What is an Eating Disorder (ED) and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)?
Common ED and BDD Behaviors- Thinking of foods as "good"/"bad"
- Restricting "bad" foods
- Bingeing, eating more than normal and with urgency, on restricted/"bad" foods
- Feeling guilt or anxiety over eating "bad" foods
- Exercising to compensate for eating something you "shouldn't" have
- Spending more than 15-20% of your day thinking of food/planning meals
- Exercising an injured area instead of letting it heal
- Feeling guilt or anxiety over missing a workout, especially for good reason (sick or high priority obligations)
- Refusal to take rest days from exercise
- Frequently passing on social gatherings to workout or eat as planned, or to avoid being around "bad" food
- Refusal to maintain a healthy weight/body fat
- Fear of getting over a certain weight/body fat
- Self esteem directly tied to weight, muscle mass, body fat % or diet
- Feelings of superiority to others due to their weight, muscle mass, body fat % or diet
