Unhappy How much protein powder should I take for my size?

I just bought natural whey protein powder and it's been a few days of me using it and I'm having problems... I've been doing two scoops with 8 ounces of water (that's the directions) and drinking a shake after my workout and before bed... I'm 23 almost 24 but I'm extremely small!!! I'm 4'11 and about 87 pounds. I've been experiencing a lot of gas and now... The runs!!!!!! I'm using the bathroom a whole lot these past few days and it seems like it's getting worse. Am I taking to much protein for my size and what do you guys recommend I do to change this? I really don't want to waste my protein powder... I want results though!

You only need 0.8 gram protein per lb. In your case that's 70 grams. Try to get that from whole foods.

Ditch the protein powder because it's upsetting your body.

As much as I don't want to I think that's probably my only choice, BUT if I continued to take the shake what do you think will happen?

If that really is the cause of your GI issues, why would you even consider it? There is NOTHING magic about whey.

70 grams of protein is nothing. A bowl of GY for breakfast and a piece of chicken/beef for dinner and you're there.

You continue to get gas and the runs OR your body gets used to it and you'll feel normal.

    Both options are possible.

You could also ty taking less at once, 1 scoop twice a day, or even 1/2 scoop; less in one go might allow for the bad effects to go away if your intolerance is only minor.

Personally, I recommend not drinking more than 2 shakes daily, get the rest of your macros from whole foods, most people don't even take more than one and eat enough food.

You can be certain that results from a whey shake will be no different than those from a steak.

I want to give it one last try! I'm hoping my body gets used to it and it starts to feel normal. But what exactly does a protein shake do for my body/workout?

I turned to the shake because it's hard for me to eat sometimes and that's probably why I'm getting thinner! With my workout I thought it would be easier to take the shake and get the protein I need

You are getting thinner because you need to eat more food, not a shake.

A shake will do nothing special, nothing at all; eat more.

Read FAQs here, get your nutrition and program in order, don't expect anything special from added shakes. Shakes in the absence of solid nutrition approach and training (neither of which you even mention) is the best way to get the results you want.

Was going to start a meal plan while taking the shake. I'm kinda discouraged now... If the shakes doing nothing for me then there's no point in me taking it! I thought it would also give me a lean body... Idk I just started working out and I don't really know what I need to do! I was told to get protein powder

A shake is just protein, nothing special.

And whey is very satiating, which makes it harder to eat enough calories. People who take whey have been shown to consume less calories. Therefore I suggest you eat real food instead.
