Hey man, I'm sorry to hear. I'm sure you'll do well in the SOAP (or even reapplying if that's your preference). I will say though that many Anesthesia programs, even top ones, go mostly by score alone and will look past a lot of personality deficits. In your case, given you said you applied broadly with your 250/251, you just might have a red flag in a LOR. There's got to be something that, after having interviewed you, committees looked back on and became concerned.
Of course this could just be siht luck...but damn man, I'm pulling for you. Good luck broski, let us know if you need any help navigating the waters (though I don't have personal experience with SOAP)

I did get a surg prelim spot so I'm good for a year. Hoping to get one of the remaining anesthesia adv spots. If not, I'm gonna re-apply during PGY-1 to a lot more places than 22.
But holy fuk you don't ever want to be in the SOAP brahs. By far the worst thing I've ever experienced in my life.
But man, things are apparently getting harder to get into. Apply broadly future matchers even if you have good stats. Don't get burned like I did.MD 2019 Crew

my friend is a GI fellow in miami and apparently they are big there. nothnxjeff
glad you got it figured out man. No hate, but did you have any disciniplinary chit on your record? The two guys in my class who didnt match and fully expected to had scores way higher than the average for their specialties and good interview skills but both had some professionalism things on their record.
Good luck to everyone matching tomorrow. I am super excited and nervous. Doing family but ranked a lot of top tier programs out west...and im from AL. Fingers crossed.Misc MD crew (2019)

Happy for you bruh. Yeah I didn't even know what the process was like, since I assumed it happened to like 2% of people - but then I saw like 20% of my class didn't match and I read up on what actually goes down, looked God awful. ****ing crooked ass broken system that can potentially leave people with a wasted 4 years and hundreds of thousands in debt.
These scum bags will keep making new medical schools though while the number of residency spots stay the same + IMG increases. It's a joke. Saw people with stats much better than mine (yours included) getting screwed over.#FreeCryptoBandit

Yea man it was awful. ERAS was down on Monday to about 3pm Tuesday so a whole SOAP day was lost. And with all the medical schools popping up all over the place, residency spots are going to get harder and harder to get with more people getting screwed. But there a fuk load of money to be made with it, so I don't see a change anytime soon.

1 - Have 2 different personal statements
2 - Be careful about applying to programs at the same institution
3 - Have separate LORs for each specialty and that you meet the LOR requirements for each program
4 - Rehearse pre-interview day which specialty you're interviewing so that you don't fuk up
5 - ???
6 - Profit

Sup medbrahs, tooth mechanic checking in. I know this isn't really a free medical advice thread but I feel like I'm in a serious (to me) situation and could really use some help from anyone with experience in the field of sleep medicine and/or fatigue. It doesn't matter to me if you reply here or PM me, I'd be seriously grateful to anyone who chimes in. Of course to anyone who needs help from me in return I'm more than happy to look at anything including photos and radiographs to answer dental questions for you or your family. Like many of you I really hate the way the current medical and dental insurance systems are set up and just want to speak with an experienced physician and skip all the bullcrap that insurance makes you go through (I'd even be more than happy to paypal any of you for a phone or text consult, just message me about it).
Brief backstory:
>Be me, 29 years old, dentist, pretty laid back life not a whole ton of stress.
>Constant underlying difficulty in life being a state of what feels to be chronic fatigue (like that feel when you were up late and had to wake up super early and only got like 3 hours of sleep). Eyes super heavy and red and the feeling seems to NEVER go away.
>Was a college athlete, very low BF %, still stay very active.
>Did a sleep study in dental school to try and address the issue. I've been able to push through and persevere in my career by what feels like sheer force of will, overcoming the constant feeling of needing to sleep or rest my eyes. Sleep study results showed significant apnea while sleeping on back, prescribed CPAP.
>I find that I'm intolerant of CPAP no matter what facemask or nose appliance I use, intolerant of dental mandibular advancement sleep appliance.
>I honestly don't think apnea is the issue. I only find that I snore while sleeping on my back and seem to sleep soundly when on my side or stomach. Sleeping partner confirms no snoring when on side and back.
>I'm a super laid back, low anxiety person. I don't feel that my fatigue stems from underlying anxiety.
>I've cut caffeine, go to bed very early now to try and maximize sleep (get 8-9h regularly). NO MATTER WHAT, wake up feeling like I just got hit by a truck. Doesn't matter whether its a week of sleeping 6h or a week of 12h. Same result every single time.
>Used sleep trackers, they tell me my sleep quality is often very high.
I'm getting kind of desperate to be honest brahs. Some days I feel like life is just really terrible and I just don't want to face the world when I feel like everyone is concerned about how fatigued I look.DDS 2017

I'm open to anything. I'd be happy to give D3 a shot although I'm somewhat skeptical it will solve the near crippling tiredness. I've never had bloodwork done before so I would also be very open to doing that. Over the years of trying to pinpoint the cause of this problem I've made sure to try various dietary changes and I currently eat a relatively balanced diet of lots of protein, carbs, vegetables, fruit, etc.
