Still alive even though I was at the NYC epicenter *knock on wood*
I know our program is planning to do virtual.
I have non-radiology colleagues who were infected, and the symptoms were like a bad flu, and fortunately nothing worse. I did, however, take care of an elderly physician in our system who sadly did die from the complications.

Any UK/Aus/NZ Drs here? Surgeonbrah still around?
I'm gunning hard for anaesthetics atm; It'll be a couple of years before I jump onto the training program. Came across the first post I made on here when I started med-school and had a good laugh. Y'all ever go back and check out your posts from when you were stressing over step-1/Matching etc.6'2",220 currently

Who else is excited to be a guinea pig for the COVID vaccine???? I’m going to try to find the viral vector one.
Just LOL at paying that much $$$ for scrubs just to look “trendy”. They’re scrubs, not designer clothing.
I’m sure the “hero” nurses are who keep them in business anyways. I’m at wits end with their virtue signaling bullchit right now.Last edited by kovalchuk71; 12-02-2020 at 08:05 PM.

Nice brah, glad things are going well you don't hear that from every surgical intern.
Misc Med Crew did died this year it seems, I haven't been here in ages. Missed all the "thanks for the virus now posting from my ventilator" threads.
As much as I love this place its been increasingly an echo chamber of forever alones and basically just one big R/P section which I'm just not in the mood for.*Misc Med Crew*

Nah Fam. Program closed back in 2019, had to transfer and it sucked relearning new attendings and coming in as a midlevel resident who had literally no trust from attendings because brb program closing was my fault.

Cotdamn bro, those feels....Were you at Drexel / Hahnemann Hospital?
I'm still alive and thriving bros. Brb COVID MICU was a fukin SAVAGE of a rotation. Our program paid us to take on extra shifts. Looking for a hospitalist job now (burnt out with academia) and ready to start making $$$ and repaying these fukin loans.
TLDR; we're all gonna make it bros

I was.
Place was an urban hospital that definitely needed some TLC, but it was a great place to train. Super pissed because I actually loved it there. Enough cutting edge academia while still training with some old school Wild West attendings.
Then the whole tail insurance thing happened and I was wondering if I was gonna have to quit my job because in PA the board can require you to surrender your license if you don't have tail coverage. It was in our contract to have it and they fuk'd us there too. Luckily, court "allowed" AAHS to buy our tail insurance like they were contractually obligated to.
But yeah. Now I'm in a much more academic place and I'll probably avoid a true academic job in the future. This isn't ultimately the best fit for me.Misc Gen Surg Crew

fuark good luck brah. Going with the tried and true ufap method? Shoot for 3 blocks/day if you can. I didn't find NBMEs too helpful, underpredicted for me like many others and just added to the stress.
OB/GYN and surg rotations suck cawk srs, you'll really need to step up your confidence if you don't want to get stepped on by residents. OB/GYN especially, everyone is rude and immature, and you'll feel like chit everyday.
Do whatever you can to get your attending to let you assist a bit, otherwise you'll be stuck placing foleys and put on retractor duty for hours, though this may depend on your hospitals volume and how many residents there are to feed.
This is where being proactive helps, on busy days and in the OR, residents/attendings will sometimes forget you even exist if you don't make yourself known and ask to participate.
Try not to be too aggressive though, the shy but likable and hardworking students get better evals than the kunts who talk and answer everything nonstop imo.
We used to try to let students leave early on slow days but man there are a ton of lame gunners nowadays who actually complain about them or others being let off early thus having less time to prep for shelves, which then ruins it for everyone.
Yeah you're going to feel useless and miserable most of the time, and it'll absolutely kill your motivation to keep studying but just take care of yourself and keep grinding.lmao I was like lmao

Only a year late - standard clinic waiting time!
you gassing yet brah?
Remember - i always start timeout just before the patient loses consciousness, just so they hear me saying - 'have we got the penectomy blade ready for the gender transition surgery' even if they are having a tendon fixed...
should see the best rate rise! ha ha ha haPlastic/Reconstructive =/= Cosmetic Surgery....

Here for a laugh and to escape the grind, don't take too much of what I say too seriously.
