    Soaking oats over night

Can anybody enlighten me on why people do this? I am guessing its makes cooking them on a stove quicker? if you are using a microwave will it make any difference? ie will they absorb more water and make them more filling?

The only reason I've ever done this is to actually eat them without cooking. I don't think there's any point in soaking oats overnight if you plan on cooking them.

I haven't done it in a while but I think you'd use about a 1:1 ratio of dry oats to liquid. I'd use about half water and half milk. Mixing in fruit like blueberries is good as well. Cold oats can be good during hot summers when you don't necessarily want a hot breakfast. Anyway, I stopped doing it cus cooked oats still taste better and are more filling to me. The only advantage really is if you don't have much time in the morning for breakfast.

Try making overnight oats and find out.
