Leading up to the draft with how hyped up Mcaffrey was I knew there was no chance he was falling to 14. I was hopeful for Corey Davis though pretty surprised he was taken so early. Mike Williams and Ross going top 10 was unexpected also.
Dont know much about Barnett but consider these stats vs. Miles Garret:
Garrett vs SEC opponents (career): 12 sacks 23.5 TFL (22 games)
vs Ranked opponents (career): 6 sacks 14.5 TFL (10 games)
Barnett vs SEC opponents (career): 29 sacks 42.5 TFL (24 games)
vs ranked opponents (career): 10 sacks 19.5 TFL (10 games)
Vs. Common opponents
Derek Barnett - 12 sacks (10 games)
Myles Garrett - 5 sacks (12 games)5/23
Bench - 250
Squat - 300
Deadlift - 365x2

I don't like the pick.
I like Barnett, and he was mocked to us in a few drafts.
However, every signal one of those mocks had a combo of Allen, Hooker, or foster going before him. So are we supposed to believe that a combo of Howie and Douglas (I'm not convinced he has any say at all in final decisions) know more than some of the best minds in football? Given Howie's track record? Absolutely not. This has reach written all over it and now we're gonna face Allen twice a year for quite some time. I hope for once we got it right.*****Eagles/Phillies/Flyers/Sixers*****

Yes
Classic case of insane athleticism vs relentless pursuit / technique
See who wins out in the end, but so far Barnett is putting up the numbers.
Just saw some highlights, when he does get those sacks, it's like he just killed a man on the field.
Barnett/Jernigan/Cox/Graham
that's pretty scary.
Eagles don't play single high much under Schwartz and that's the only thing Hooker is good at. Hooker is awful at tackling and tackling matters in the secondary in his scheme. They maybe coulda tried something with moving Jenkins back into the slot and fill a CB slot, but we have the highest paid safety duo in the NFL, and McLeod is very solid.
D-Line at the end of the day still matters a lot more, so I am not mad at passing on Malik Hooker.
We needed a good pass rushing DE bad, but Jonathan is better suited as a 4-3 DT or a 3-4 DE. Either way, a bunch of teams passed on Allen as well because apparently he has some serious issues with his shoulders, no cartilage in one of em. And look who picked him up, if the redskins didn't do it, he probably woulda fell more. Same thing with Foster, it wasn't just us passing on them.
OJ Howard maybe legit argument there, but I am content with Ertz as our TE given the upgrades at wide outs to open up the middle for him more. So that wasn't a pressing need either.Last edited by Slamt; 04-27-2017 at 10:22 PM.

Cool with the pick. You aren't going to go anywhere with a weak defense

if Mixon and Cook are there when they pick in round 2, do they get one of them?

I really want a CB in round 2.
Maybe Brian Hill as a RB in later rounds.
Honestly, I think you can plug most running backs in and they will be fairly effective if you build a strong O-line. The Broncos were doing that in the late 90s-early 2000s. they had a new 1000 yard rusher every year that would do nothing on other teams.NDSU Crew

We're a few picks away and the teams in front don't really need RBs aside from a couple. Good chance Cook/Mixon will be on the board
I'd definitely take an all pro CB over an all pro HB. CB is pretty deep in this draft, there will still be value on the third day.
The Bronco's back then had a good o line but it was more about Shanahan's zone blocking schemes. Look at what he did for Alfred Morris in WAS, then look at what happened to Morris once Shanahan left★☆★ Full-Time Philadelphia Eagles Fan ★☆★

I love the jones pick, but the eagles sending out the widow of a fallen soldier? That was absolutely predetermined, they handcuffed themselves from ever taking him.

Digging the picks so far. Now let's get an RB. Like I said before I'd prefer Brian Hill at this point.

Nope take a CB every pick, RBs are a dime a dozen. They passed on Mixon who was a difference maker.
Now? Focus on the future. Douglas believes CB is the second hardest position to play after QB, so take as many as you can. Bolster the defense, they're going to compete this year. Sign Jamal Charles as a bridge gap and take a RB next year. This draft needs to address the secondary.Last edited by BenadrylBandit; 04-28-2017 at 11:01 PM.
