    So it is officially eight weeks from next Thursday until black belt assessment. I am really putting in the hard yards and trying to work on those little niggly things that are still apparent through my karate (e.g., knees moving when in stances). I'm convinced with a bit of work each day I can fix them in time. The knee moving has definitely improved since I really started working on it, but still need to work on it more. Convinced it is more of a glute strength issue than anything.

    Yes, it took me awhile. LOL

    I am a bit excited but also nervous. Really feel like the clock is ticking and still have things to work on before assessment. But I'm determined to fix them!

    So Tue and Wed are my PT days. My PT happens to be one of my karate Sensei's so we do a lot of training that aids my karate. On Tue we did a lot of core/glute work including planks (i'm still on my knees because I can't get my back flat yet), lunges and squat/rows. Also did lots of kata. Tonight is senior training so only did some light stretching/practiced a few moves this morning. Was nice to have a bit of a rest this morning - Tue/Wed I'm out of the house by 5:45 am for training at 6 LOL

    Had tournament a couple of weeks ago - picked up two silvers. I only missed gold for kumite by 1 point which I was really pleased about considering I am not the biggest fan of sparring. It's more of a bit of fear of being hit in the guts and being seriously injured with all the stuff that has happened to me. I will post a pic of me with medals once I remember how...LOL

    Last night's training session was a bit of a blah. I was really off in terms of technique etc. Sometimes I think when I'm that tired mentally, I really should stay home to rest rather than push myself to train!

    It's so hard to figure out what is better. If I don't go sometimes I second guess myself, and sometimes going doesn't work either

    Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while. Life has been really busy with training and work. Assessment is only 4 weeks away, so am training really hard. Will try to catch up with everyone over the weekend Having a rest day today and have schedule a rest day for Sunday as well. LOL

    Definitely feeling a lot better than yesterday. Friday is always my tired day after late night training. I find it really hard to wind down, especially after an intense session. With a month out, I really need to plan my strategy regarding rest, etc. I think this week would be a good week to back off a little for a few days (e.g., another rest day tomorrow). Then I can get back into a few weeks of intense training with a 'deload' in the few days leading up to assessment. Any suggestions/feedback would be much appreciated.

    That sounds solid. If there's a day in there where you're extra tired throw in an extra rest day, srs, people don't do that enough. Do you have time to take a quick nap ever?
