That's good news about the job. Yeah that's scary to leave your comfort zone but you gotta think long term, if you'd be making more and hopefully like what you're doing then jump on it!
Have fun with the bike ride! When I was in college I didn't have a car for a while so I rode my bike every-freaking-where. I'd leave on a Saturday morning, ride all day and explore towns I had never been to, and came back in the evening. Once ended up in Amish country, that was pretty interesting.

Yes, even without better pay, long term I would be much more marketable. It's hard to get out of psych. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE psych, but if I move to Ohio, where I'd be moving to doesn't have psych. I need to have some skills that are more marketable. Granted, if I get the job I'd probably stay until I get to keep the employer match to my 403b. Not sure how long that is. Wouldn't surprise me if it's 5 years.
I lived on my bike growing up. Case in point: the metal break was on backwards so it rubbed against my thumb. I'm allergic to metal. I was on the bike so much I was breaking out from it! LOVE biking!!
Speaking of Amish, I'm driving in today and my car has a camera so when you have cruise control on, when it detects an object in front of you, it automatically slows down. It does NOT detect the horse and buggies. Not good! Glad I was awake.Me vs. Me: Lifting with UCTD: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=170084343

Week 26, Cardio 1
My poor legs are SO out of shape! Went out biking and talk about feeling the burn! Definitely need to bike more back home, even if it's just on the bike trainer. I just biked around an area park, not much on the actual bike path itself. I wanted to get an idea of how far it was so when I walk to take pictures, I know how to prepare.
That being said, I was planning a 20+ mile bike ride tomorrow. We'll have to see what my legs think about that in the morning!
24:25 minutes
3.6 miles
7.5 av mph
114 calories
127 av HR
164 max HR
Hoping to hit the gym tonight after a picnic with the family. It will depend on how full I am after the ice cream I shuold be able to get something in though.Me vs. Me: Lifting with UCTD: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=170084343

Wow not good at all! That's a pretty big object too. I'm assuming it wouldn't detect a pedestrian or guy on a bike?
Always impressed people can get their HR up so high on a bike. My leg feel like they just can't move any faster at some point and my HR stays pretty low for it being cardio. I hope your legs forgive you tomorrow, haha. Whenever I jump back on my bike after a long time I swear I literally sprain my ass. Waddling for days.Current PRs:

Dunno. Not sure how to test it either. I'm more concerned about the deer. I purposefully tested it with the Amish buggy. I saw it and wanted to see if the car would slow. It did not. Kind of sad. They are rather big.
Not sure how I got it up so high. Maybe the slight hills? I'm also really out of shape. I haven't done cardio consistently in YEARS!
Legs are holding up so far but my butt is definitely bruised from the seat. Worse thing about biking is the butt bruise.Last edited by SophieM; 06-29-2017 at 05:18 AM.

Exciting stuff in here with the interview and your trip! And biking... that's a lotta biking
Yeah, those car cameras definitely have their issues. I remember a story in the news not long ago of a guy driving a self-driving car who got killed when it drove into the side of a tractor trailer that was turning in front of him. Turned out the camera couldn't tell the difference between the side of the trailer (pure white) and the distant sky.

Not sure the 20+ ride will happen LOL. Legs are fine today but butt is definitely bruised from the seat. We'll see.
Even with the camera, I do still try to pay attention. Not gonna lie though, it has saved me a couple times.
I think Baltimore has those bikes. Not that I would ever bike downtown Baltimore, nor do I live down there. Where I live is just too hilly to bike. Will definitely have to get the on the bike trainer more even though it's not really the same. It's closer than the bikes at the gym.
~~~~~~
I think all the lack of sleep is catching up with me. I couldn't make the gym last night as I was completely exhausted. Picnic ended around 9 pm and I was having a difficult time staying awake. Got back to the hotel and crashed. Feel like I still need more sleep too. Torn between actually sleeping more vs getting out and doing things. Currently leaning towards eating breakfast and trying to get in at least another hour or so. Then get out and enjoy the day.Me vs. Me: Lifting with UCTD: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=170084343
You people and your extreme cardio fitness. I'm always huffing on a bike. Can't get my heart rate up on a walk, but running and biking make me feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. But yes, the butt sprain is real.
Ouch for sure.
I can get my HR above 200 running. Well, that's what the HR monitor says anyway. At that point I feel like I'm going to pass out, I'm seeing white dots, etc. I try to stay below it.
I did try to sleep during the middle part of the day. I'm hoping to sleep well tonight.Me vs. Me: Lifting with UCTD: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=170084343
Now back at the hotel. There may have been other things I did, but I don't remember. I'm tired. Not used to so much cardio. Need to get in my squat workout tomorrow and hopefully go for another bike ride if it isn't raining.Last edited by SophieM; 06-29-2017 at 08:10 PM.
Week 26 - Cardio 3
Well, I got in my "long" bike ride, though it wasn't as long as I had wanted. Just not in shape enough to bust out 20+ mile rides at the moment.
There's two different sets of data as once I got to where I was going, I made a pee stop, took pictures, etc. I tried to take picture on the ride back but have yet to look to see if they actually turned out. Nothing like biking and trying to take pictures!
Out
5.74 miles
38:25 minutes
142 max HR
Back
Bike rides are no joke. Mad respect. It's worth stopping into a bike shop and getting your bike fitted or optimized if you haven't already. You can buy something cheap with high mark up for the effort and give them a five star review for taking the time. A well fitted bike can give you twice the power for half the effort as a stock one.
I'm just out of shape. I'm not even going to blame the bike. It's the same bike I was riding 20+ miles round trip to/from band camp when I had anorexia. I'm just out of shape LOL. I also don't ride at all outside in Baltimore. Until I move back to Ohio, not worth spending the money, which I don't have anyway.
Still gotta get a workout in today somehow too. Considering the bike ride and then hitting the community pool since the hotel hot tub was closed, not sure leg day is going to be very pretty though!
Currently exhausted from the heat and debating on a nap.
Edit: I slept instead of going to the gym. Still exhausted. Have a 5K in the morning. Maybe I'll get in the workout sometime tomorrow. I might just wait until Monday since squat day is Monday anyway. Kind of late to be doing it now. I have been hitting legs hard, just not lifting wise.
Edit x2 - And, I got the job. So many mixed feelings. I know the smart thing to do is to take it. Just have to get a few more pieces of information first, like shift differential and whether I can still go on vacation in September.Last edited by SophieM; 07-01-2017 at 04:50 AM.
They were not Hungry Man dinners LOL. Just little Michelina's and Stouffer's lasagna. I did go out to eat at the Mexican restaurant here. Also got one of my huge super burros to go so I have it when I get home.
~~~~~~
I walked the 5K today. I did it in slightly under an hour which was impressive. Ended up walking with two other women. It was nice. Weather cooperated.
Long drive back to Baltimore in the morning.
Edit: Stats from the 5K walk

Congrats on the job offer!!! And great job on the 5K, too! You have now officially done 3000x more cardio in the last week than I have done in the last year. I should probably be ashamed of that
^^ Oh yes, totally this. I once watched a guy at a meet get completely confused by the multiple ring markings on the bench bar. He put one hand on the correct ring on one side, then loses track of center and puts his other hand on a different ring that is off-set like 6" from the one he should have used. As soon as they handed him the bar, it tilted to about 20 degrees and the whole lift went downhill kinda fast from there. So I guess when it comes to ring markings, it could be worse... you could be that guy.

It was pretty!
Eh. I rarely do cardio. That's probably more than I've done all year too I don't even consider biking cardio. I love it. Not the stationary bike so much, but real biking.
I've almost done that. There was only one set of rings but they were MUCH to wide. I was clueless as to where my hands should go. I ended up switching bars. LOLMe vs. Me: Lifting with UCTD: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=170084343

Week 27 - Day 1
Back at it in this miserable heat. Pretty happy with the workout. I had a good phone call with HR right before, so I'm sure that helped things.
Squats - Cannot wait until after this meet to work on form. Form felt good on the 55 lbs set. I don't think it was horrible towards the end, but definitely doing more of a good morning than I should be.
55 lbs - 5
75 lbs - 3
95 lbs - 1
95 lbs - 1
95 lbs - 1
95 lbs - 1
95 lbs - 1
95 lbs - 1
DB Bench Press - Felt pretty good. Glad I didn't push the first set once I got to 8. The last two were definitely not as easy as the first!
25 lbs - 8
25 lbs - 8
25 lbs - 8
Trap Bar Deadlift - No clue where I'm "supposed" to be with these but didn't want to push it in the heat. Not to mention I had been drinking water and didn't want to spew it back up either
155 lbs - 8
155 lbs - 8
155 lbs - 8
Step Ups - Nothing interesting here.
8
8
Abs
Cable Crunches
50 lbs - 10
50 lbs - 10
Captain Chair Knee Raises
10
10
Kettlebell Swings - I couldn't find the one I wanted so had to go lighter.
25 lbs - 15
25 lbs - 15
Job Update: So, the phone call with HR went well. I found out differentials for shifts. Differentials included, I'd be making almost 25% more per hour than my current job (A little more than $6 per hour)! I also asked about the cruise, to which he said it shouldn't be a problem. I did email the manager and she responded that it's not a problem at all.
You'd think that'd be the end of it, right? Wrong.
I met with my supervisor's supervisor at my current job. Apparently, the nurses are getting a salary adjustment this month. She meets with her supervisor, which is the director of nursing, today and will try to give me a number so I can make a more informed decision.
I told her that I was still leaning towards taking the other job, just to get more "medical" experience which will better transfer to a job in Ohio when I move. Not to mention that I seriously doubt the pay raise is going to come close to what I'll get at the other job. I also made clear that I would definitely stay on as occasional, and the requirements for that aren't bad at all. Just 4 shifts a month and one weekend.
So, maybe by the end of the day I'll have made a decision, even though I basically already have.Me vs. Me: Lifting with UCTD: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=170084343
