This is why I respect you guys.

I see your Home pkg #1 more like a starter CF package with squat stands, bumpers, rings.

Now your 5x5 should be a starter lifter package. Just go basic....a rack, a bench and 300lb oly set.

Yeah that's what the 5x5 will be shortly (2 months). With an option for bumpers. We held off on carrying our own line of iron for so long because most people wanted to do CrossFit workouts, or they'd buy cheap iron on Craigslist, but we're growing to give people more options and save more.

    1) The Rep Fitness rack has 2 pullup bars (1.25" and 2") and UHMW j-cups, weight storage, and 2" spacing. It's objectively better in a lot of ways. What are you seeing as inferior to the PPR200? The rigidity and/or the front-facing pins?

    2) The bench is excellent. Look at the reviews on Amazon. Have you used our bench? I would be really surprised to hear that someone thought Rogue's is worth the price difference considering the specs are almost identical. I've used both.

    3) The Sabre bar's specs are better than the OB-86b. 28mm, hard chrome coating (if you prefer less maintenance), 150k tensile, 1200 lb rated. Where are you seeing that it is not an upgrade? It's more expensive than the OB-86 and not really meant to compete directly with it because the price reflects the upgrade.

I respect anyone that points out where we can improve and love the feedback we get here, but in this particular instance I don't think the opinion is supported by facts.
    1) For the love of God, and all things Holy, please stop saying the rack has weight storage. It does not, and IMO I would rather stack plates on the rear frame than have a peg. I also liked the subtle downplay of how gussets make the rack more ridged, I'll take that over the thick pull up bar all-day long. The only serious plus to me is the j-hook upgrade, but those can be added to any rack later on, however gussets are a little harder to add.

    2) The Rogue bench is often considered because most people are already looking at more expensive FID benches (like the Powerblock Sport Bench or REP FID bench), and in comparison the Rogue will deliver nicer quality at a lower price than those. I brought up a cheapo flat bench with the three foot design, wheels, and front handle a page or two ago. That would be my go-to over the REP, those are important features to me and the price is competitive.

    3) My experience may be limited, but I have never used a chrome plated bar that I liked. The coating on the OB-86b gives it a nice chalky feel, and doesn't seem to dull down the sharpness of the knurling. Tensile strength and 'Ratings' seem worthless in this price category, especially considering most people will handle less than 300lbs regularly, and those who exceed that are looking for better bars anyway (Rogue, AB, York, Ivanko).

Having said all that I'm not knocking REP, I think you guys are definitely putting out some interesting stuff and the reputation for items like the FID bench is growing. If you are able to keep the price where it's at with those future rack upgrades that you spoke of, then I think it only gets more competitive. If the price goes up at all, then I think most opinions here sill stay the same.

    Just my $0.02 ☺

I would love to have the PPR200X, but I have a lower ceiling in my basement (7ft). I would need a shorter rack, probably ones that are 6' but I'm 6'1 myself. Not sure what I should get or if a different piece of equipment would be better.

    Options:
    1. Have it custom cut to size.
    2. Get an shorter open top rack (can't do pullups)
    3. No need to go as low as 6' if you have 7 ft ceiling. Why would you need that much clearance? If it's for pullups, you have to sacrifice somewhere.

    What are you using now?

EDIT: I just checked the dimensions. The PR200X is 82" (under 7 foot). This rack would be fine for you.

I ordered a custom made rack and bar from a local fabricator, guy is specialized in olympic bars but the rack seemed good, nothing fancy just a basic rack but the design is very similar to powertec/powerline(flat foot, gussets, j-hooks etc) which I really like, though it is 9ga it's not very heavy(~200lbs) and I'm afraid it will tip when doing kippings/ring stuff as it is not bolted down,
So today I asked him to add plate holders which costed an extra $17/pair, hope it'll be enough

Only other options I had in my country was overpriced custom racks with **** alloy's steel, this one I got cheaper and from a more serious fabricator

in light of this thread: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=170403011

i'm considering asking a mod to edit my first post to include part of my response about not spending too much time considering the details of the rack and it's competition. not sure if that's necessary or if the OP is fine as it is. what do you guys think?

also for anyone who makes it this far into the thread:
CHECK YOUR LOCAL CRAIGSLIST FOR EQUIPMENT BEFORE BUYING NEW

yes, this is a thread about buying new, but it's MORE a thread about being cheap! it's in the title! at the least: you're looking for the same as what you'd buy new, but cheaper. at best, you're looking at expanding your budget to fit some quality end-game level equipment. ffs in the linked thread we got a regular possibly upgrading his setup!

i totally understand: craigslist can sometimes be a process of waiting, haggling, etc. but you owe it yourself to check at least once in case you can easily save a big wad of cash.

there is the rep fitness FID bench b-stock on sale for 219 plus shipping, shipping to me is 24.11

there's a plate that's ugly-welded to the front foot, but for those on a budget i think this is a good deal.

still want to emphasize that most people only need a flat or 0-90 bench, but repfitness has a presence on this forum and is pretty open about how he does business.

Legit point about only needing a 0-90 bench but that being said, there aren't that many 0-90 benches at that price point that perform as well as the Rep Fitness bench even if you don't use the decline option. The Powerblock Sport Bench maybe being the only decent contender.

Some reviews are saying that the Powerblock Sport Bench is not too stable and isn't great for larger people. Anyone has any input on that?

This thread should he helpful, my original review was in the #1 slot on Amazon for years. I did an updated review recently when I picked up a newer version of the Sport Bench. Long story short, I don't see any serious issues with stability when on a hard surface.

The PowerBlock is a great bench. My brother-in-law sometimes comes over and uses mine. He's 6'6, about 255 and has no problem with it.

don't be snarky, many of us need to store weights and bars and powerblocks on our benches...they're multi-taskers

Why? What happens if you reach the 500 number? Does a leprechaun hand deliver a pot of gold to you? Its just a number dude...dont get too caught up in the numbers.

Truthfully you'd probably have more satisfaction finding all 100 golden skulltulas in ocarina of time. And no...the boomerang glitch to obtain all 100 does not count!

Not a guarantee, but Matt/Terry will usually give a new rack for refurb price. So for new readers, it is still worth it to contact FF directly.

This has my interest, is this a common/recurring offering that FF has, or is this a rare opportunity to be cherished?

Im trying to get thru to them,

I am still not sure the additional 150-200 is justified for my intended usage. I am not nor have ever been a power lifter, and am way to old to want to entertain the idea now. I already have a Hoist V4 and simply want to supplement with barbell exercises safely. BP up to ~200, probably have no reason to be doing heavy squats with my back issues, would like to be able to do a military press inside the cage. Basically, I use my equipment for conditioning and exercise. But, regardless of the amount of weight, I want to be able to try one more lift before stopping, I can work to failure easily with the Hoist.
