if you want to do leg extensions that's fine, but do you need to buy a cheap bench with a rickety leg attachment in order to do them? have you tried looking locally for a prone plate loaded leg extension? they show up from time to time in my area in various states of (dis)repair.

Every single leg extension machine i see on cl is over $400 and my space is limited. I live near philadelphia and when i search leg extension on CL the price is not close to what id spend .if you checked out my current bench you can see its not that great to begin with. Dont truly care to have a "great" bench. Im the only one who uses it and I've had worst benches which have always done the job. Looking to just flip my bench, use credit card pts, and at most put up $100.
Most of the time I have to move all my stuff to the wall and out of the way in a sunroom which is why I have no rack and just squat stands. I could easily just get a bench with the stands attached and lots of those have leg extenions but I have to be able to move out of the way or put in shed if wife wants. Thats how I got my plates bc u can find many of those for 50-100 w/ various plates and then just flip the bench.
I got a recommendation which I've seen a few others say as well, so im good.

My preference for leg extension is to buy a good quality home-gym/multi-gym. My Body Solid G5S is pretty decent, but I've seen decent units from Keys as well. In my area they can be had for around $350 - $500, but I got mine with a 260lb stack for $200. Couldn't pass that up.

As for what do I know...any chance u could let me know what moves u recommend
Id hate to do kickbacks when I should just do close grip bench
I never said I was going to not do squats anymore...just an option to do extensions if I follow a bodybuilding.com program. I usually sub front squats or any other form of squat, stiff leg dl, good morning when the program says leg extension/curl

you've already answered your own question though re: leg extensions. Unless you are spending the money on a dedicated leg extension machine, which you already said is cost and space prohibitive, you are not going to get a better option to do them than what you already have.
What you might want try, and you can find a suitable piece for <$200 and doesn't take much room, is a sissy squat.
Also kickbacks...? C'mon manBoomer Rep Crew #1

I'm trying to find a rack that will fit in my basement. Floor to ceiling 81.5" w/o mat. I have read others talking about hack sawing and drilling new holes into the PPR200X or GPR378, but straight cutting and proper measuring for the holes is definitely outside of my comfort zone (considering the high cost of failure). Suggestions?

the GPR378 is listed at 80" tall; it should fit just fine without any modifications.
you can always find a handyman and pay them for an hours work to cut and drill for you. that's what i did, paid them i think $50 and they did a very mediocre job. i wish i had just given it a shot myself.Domicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

The GPR378 should fit...but I don't know if he has the clearance to stand the sides up once they're assembled.
OP, I'd suggest following Dom's advice and having whatever rack you choose cut down to fit. You could pay a local fabricator to do it (would only take a little while with a chop saw and drill press) or do it yourself with a hacksaw and hand drill."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I appreciate the quick response from everyone.
I ended calling Body Solid since even on their own website I saw differing heights (80" & 82"). You are correct that it is 80". Therefore it might just work without any cutting/drilling.
I'm going to spend the day internally arguing cost over quality. I think both the GPR378 and Titan T2 short rack are capable of safely catching failed squats and benches (for me it's under 300 lbs) without damage, but GPR378 appears more substantial / solid. As for the Titan allowing me to do pullups... nice bonus, but I do have a bar setup outside my house so it's minor.

found out about them through Stasher, who i believe also has a pair. he's put something on the inside (the soft side of some velcro or something? can't remember) to keep them from sliding, which they can do if you take a wide grip....it's not a great feeling when it happens.
otherwise they're nice to have.Domicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

Any deals going on anywhere online for 300 lb. weight sets? I've been waiting for the Cap weight set on Amazon and Walmart to drop, but I don't see it happening. Last year they were $200 and now they're $384. Wish I would have got them then. So far the only cheap set I've seen is the Fitness Gear brand. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...uctId=10793623
