Evan Centopani allegedly assaults gay asian in the gym (srs. not joking)

Taken from ********. This is a legit guy who's into fitness and is a decent lifter. Not a troll account in any way. He's also a homosexual asian dude, if that is relevant to the story (Evan Centopani is very conservative if I recall correctly).

I've always suspected Evan of having mental problems but this is pretty messed up if it went down as described below. Evan is deleting comments on his instagram relating to the event, a strange thing to do if he's innocent and has no clue about wtf this whole thing is about imo.


"Warning: This will be a relatively long post about how I was physically assaulted today by someone who I used to look up to since I was 15-16 years old.
So my good friend Alexander Najar and Ryan Tanner came to visit me today in new haven. We went to the powerhouse gym to catch a workout in together. We decided to head over to the deadlift station to do some deadlifts. Next to us, no one but the famous (in the bodybuilding world) Ifbb pro Evan Centopani was deadlifting and barbell rowing with his buddy Daniel Noccioli. After a few sets in, a guy came in behind us to wait for a spot to use the bar after we are done. In the middle of our workout, Evan came over to yell at us...

"If you guys are dicking around, let the guy do his workout!". We were obviously baffled since we were actually working out while Evan himself held up the bar for even longer than we did. Being courteous, we wrapped up and took all the weights off the bar and let the guy use our spot to deadlift. Annoyed, I was complaining that we had the right to use the spot as much as he did and that we were still in the middle of our workout. Overhearing me saying that, he came over and yelled at me "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY? YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS HERE." He preceded to SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE, PUSHED ME AND CHASED ME OFF THE GYM. He threatened to punch me in the face and yelled at me to leave the gym while saying that I had no right to be there. I paid my fees. I signed my rights to be there. I did not violate any laws. I did not once touch him. I walked out of the gym. Called the cops and reported him. I am not pressing any charges but I could as well have pressed one.

To think that I used to look up to him when I was younger. That I was inspired to be like him. That I even took a picture holding his hand. I was more than disappointed but actually appalled by his behavior. Not to mention that he came after me, the only non white person there at the scene. While I can't say that that is why he came after me it was more than likely the case. I will never in my life step foot in that place again but it was for sure one of the most disgusting behavior I have ever seen from someone who should be representing the sport of bodybuilding. I used to think that bodybuilders are misrepresented with people calling them meatheads and jackasses, but at times like this, they might be right after all.

Attached is a picture of me shaking his hand freshman year hoping to one day be like him. Oh how could I have been so wrong."

I highly doubt Evan hit him.

What probably happened was this guy and his friend were all "goo goo eyed" watching a pro bodybuilder train...and not really training themselves. Just wasting time. I would have done the same thing as Evan did and told them to train or move on.

He is just butt hurt that one of his idols called him out...and with social media he needs some big story to tell.

I'm sure there are security cameras at the gym.

I would like to hear the whole and true story....seems a little stretched to me

I'll be out at the Super Gym in 2 weeks and be able to train and talk with Evan...I'll let you know if he punches me

Evan seems like one of the most relaxed pros around. We are only hearing one side of the story, but would be interesting to hear the other side as well and actually find out what happened.

Some average club no serious players would want to use a court for doubles (old mans game IMO), me and my training partner would not leave the court when we were training and would have come to blows over it if needed. As future pros we had a more valid reason to use the facilities and others should out of respect have waited for us to finish.

Evan is in the same position, he is an elite athlete and he deserves some respect. In gyms if I always gave priority to a bodybuilder training for a comp and gave them the resepct they derserve.

I some how doubt the offended party followed respect protocol and he seemed to run his mouth off from the report.

Even should not have slapped him but yelling at his for lack of respect is ok.

Pawan (the guy who's story this is) is a serious lifter himself. Obviously not ifbb type pro, but definitely well-versed in training and knows what the hell he's doing inside of a gym and has competed.

Physical assault is not something to be taken lightly. You don't just slap someone who you feel has wronged you. It's a crime, welcome to functioning society.

So if I train at a mainstream gym and pay a membership and there is a Pro who walks in, I have to pack up and get off whatever he wants to use? Not me. I will do my workout as I normally do. I won't ever dick around about it and text while leaning on the squat rack et., and I will wrap it up as quick as I can but I sure am not leaving out of "respect" for some self entitled bb who thinks people have to drop their workouts just because they want to use an area that you are working out in (that you are paying the club to use).

Jay Cutler, Levrone, other Pros et., used to train late night to avoid these issues. No people, no problems. They didn't walk around demanding people get off equipment because they are Pros and need to work out. If it is that big of an issue for a Pro, open up your own gym or get an exclusive membership at a high end professional athletic/training facility.

I don't think just because you are a Pro you can walk into a mainstream gym and expect people who are paying to use the equipment and not dicking around, to immediately jump off every piece of equipment you want to use just because you are a "Pro".

I have no idea how this whole Evan thing went down, the Asian guy maybe was dicking around in which case it is understandable to say something but I till don't think he should have slapped the guy, just my opinion.

You were (as Evan) no more entitled to anything more than any other paying member. Don't like it? Get a private training facility.

I'm sure the story isn't exactly how this guy is telling it, but if Evan acted like a douche it shouldn't be that surprising and people shouldn't be making excuses for him.
