Hey guys! I am Alpha Pro Nutrition’s newest rep and here is my first contest!
I made it simple and fun for everyone. Just post a photo of a gym that inspires you. It could be your own personal gym with a few pieces of equipment, an amazing fully equipped facility with ‘state of the art machines' or a grungy old school hole in the wall that screams brutal hardcore workouts!
Post as often as you want and extra points will be gained for originality, frequency, creative photoshop skills or any cool story that may go along with the pic.
2 lucky winners will receive a full 30 day supply of UPLOAD® ! Contest starts today and ends Sunday December 13th.
The contest is open to everyone worldwide. Past winners OK. Good luck to everyone!

So I work out at a no frills gym. It has a dedicated weights/machines and cardio section with no classes or extra rooms aside from changing/shower rooms. All staff members avidly workout and none of them are salespeople trying to get you to sign up for a membership.
One caveat for me though, is that the gym doesn't have any microplates, so this is my solution:
These are my personal set of improvised microplates. I picked these up at some auto car part shop, and 2 rings equal = 1.25 lbs, for a total of 2.5lbs when loaded. The reason why I have them in a bag is because the gym is a 24 hour gym, and has had issues with theft of weights. So to not confuse other gym members with me taking out and putting weights into my bag, I put my microplates in brightly coloured bags (which conceals what is inside the bag, and also helps to load them on to the barbells) so no one gets the wrong idea.*COUNTRYMIKE APPRECIATION CREW*

This promo strikes a bit of an emotional chord with me. My favorite gym closed just over a year ago and I don't know that I will ever find another place like it.
*Not affiliated with the Powerhouse chain of gyms
It was a tiny little hole-in-the-wall joint, second floor of an old warehouse, tin roof, heater set to only kick on when it went below 50*F in the winter, no AC in the summer. It would commonly be over 100*F with NC humidity on top of it in the summer. The gym had been around since '76 and with the exception of one or two pieces of machinery, nothing was newer than at least 20 years old, most was even older. The carpet had over 40 years of sweat soaked into it. The machines were all chain drive instead of cables. Many of the pieces were handmade.
That place had a very hardcore and dedicated following. I can't count how many times I saw someone walk up the stairs, look around for about 5 seconds, then just turn and leave. There were no cardio bunnies, no bros, and everybody there was working towards something. There was a very "going to work" type attitude there. Once you got up the stairs you knew what you were there for. Everyone worked hard and was really cool with one another. It was like a family. The walls were covered with photos of both former and current members. There was a true legacy of what had taken place there over the years.
The wealth of knowledge in that gym was almost overwhelming. Many of the members had been training in that same place for over 30 years. There were former state, national, and world champions that could fill you with advice for decades. In all, towards the end there were only about 30 regular members of the "evening" crew. A few folks came during the day, but never many. In all, I probably saw less than 10 women ever come more than once. Only 2 or 3 ever became members.

I've trained in elite and hardcore gyms all over the country from the famous ones on the California shores to the East Coast Mecca and none of them will ever match what the Powerhouse was to me.*MFC*
