I wonder if they're gonna create a story alternative that allows Aeris to stay alive? Aeris death was the first time I shed tears for a videogame. I was like 10 back then.

As far as the game itself, I hope they don't use a modern FF battle system and that we just have a flashier ATB instead although looking at the videos they seem to apply some KH/modern FF battle system instead which is rather disappointing. FF7 was the king of ATB and I honestly just don't think real-time combat can replicate the feeling that you get when you press omni-slash and just watch the animation. Speaking of omni-slash they need to keep the sound and look of it. Anyway, using a modern combat system is a disservice to the original. Why would the arguably grestest game of all time have to adopt to modern standards, shouldn't it be the other way round? That's the difference between Square Enix and Squaresoft. One company is following trends while the other set trends.

In general, I just don't see Square Enix showing the love to the game that Squaresoft did. Even 18 years later you can't just help but feel astounded by the work that went into the storyline, gameplay, graphics and sound...no copypasta except the world map, every soundtrack fits the area perfectly, the atmosphere is literally once in a lifetime material. I think that instead of following what people think is good the developers should do their own thing like in FF7 and show us what's actually good. After all they're recreating the GOAT game so shouldn't the GOAT game by definition be completely different and better than most games?

Apart from that a few shallow ideas. Aeris needs to have her extreme waist-hip ratio of the past, Tifa should still be rocking GGs, Cloud needs more size (he looked incredibly skinny in the vids) and Barrett needs to be even bigger with a blockier face and lose the glasses.

Should've taken the lighting returns system or xiii-2 system and modified them to fit ff7 then.

That system was really coming into its own except for LR only having 1 character.
Just spruce it up so all combat happens on the field and bring back summons.

No need to get rid of ATB.
