    Biceps

    Dumbbell Concentration Curls
    - 1 x 05 - 30.0 lbs
    - 1 x 05 - 32.5 lbs
    - 1 x 05 - 35.0 lbs
    - 1 x 05 - 37.5 lbs
    - 1 x 03 - 40.0 lbs
    I'm back to my max weight/reps for these. They feel good...forearm still isn't happy, but not causing any type of soreness afterwards so will keep moving forward with these.

    Barbell Drag Curls
    - 1 x 17 - 50.0 lbs
    - 1 x 09 - 50.0 lbs
    - 1 x 09 - 50.0 lbs
    - 1 x 09 - 50.0 lbs
    - 1 x 09 - 50.0 lbs
    Was thrilled to get a PR with these...I think it was a couple reps over my last PR. Of course that resulted in the rest of my sets not being as strong.

    Chin Ups - Bicep Focused
    - 1 x 11
    - 1 x 05
    - 1 x 04
    - 1 x 04
    The first set were full ROM...bring my shoulders to the bar...but the speed was much faster. The remainder of the sets were same in the sense of bringing my shoulders to the bar in order to get full ROM with the biceps...but then a very slow decent focusing on the contraction of the biceps.

    Chin Ups
    - 1 x 13
    These were regular good old chin ups at my normal pace. The fact that I was only able to do 13 after the bicep focused chin ups was a good sign...means I hit them hard.


    Notes:
    Well really wanted to get in some abdominal work as well...but that wasn't in the cards for me last night. About 30 minutes before heading to the gym I heard a loud noise...sounded liked a car drove into the side of the house. Dogs went completely nuts. So I checked around the outside of the house and couldn't find anything that may have caused that sound, so I thought it was maybe something off in the distance. Well it wasn't until I was in my car getting ready to head to the gym, that I learned what was the source of that noise...one of the springs for the garage door snapped. And I didn't realize that until I tried to use the garage door opener which ended up jamming the door, so I couldn't even manually open the door. So managed to find a company...they said they would contact their service department and I would get a call back either during the night or in the morning. So went to the gym and got in a bit of a workout.

    Did get a call this morning and the guy came and fixed the door...so my car is FREE . Managed to also get to the grocery store for some real sudafed...the stuff online is true, regarding everything you have to do to get it. But I'm hoping it will work so I can get some relief. Figure I'll use that for the next few days to get me thru Christmas and then stop taking it to see if I'm over it or if I need antibiotics cause it is a sinus infection.

    Chin Ups

    Was increasing the ROM with my Chin ups. Seems my forearm is finally okay with me going down all the way. Then bringing my shoulders up to the bar. With today's chin ups, I held the top of the rep for a couple seconds which meant I couldn't get in as many reps. Not to mention hard given the setup.

    Pull Ups
    - 1 x 03
    These weren't too bad to the forearm, but given the pull up bar is basically a barbell on hooks...it is too easy for it to turn during the pull ups and makes it too hard. Figured I'd save pushing the forearm with pull ups with a better setup

    Dumbbell One Arm Row - Targeting Lats
    - 1 x 10 - 20.0 lbs
    - 1 x 08 - 25.0 lbs
    - 1 x 08 - 30.0 lbs
    - 1 x 08 - 35.5 lbs
    - 1 x 06 - 40.0 lbs
    Can definitely feel the difference with these in my forearms. Felt discomfort in the beginning until the forearm was warmed up. After that, it was only towards the higher reps. But added some significant weight to these. Couldn't do that before due to the pain.

    Dragon Flags

    Still can feel that I have an abdominal strain. Lower left abdominal area. As long as I limited my ROM, I could do these. So will have to continue to take it easy until it heals. Did mess up my back with these though...hopefully that will be okay tomorrow

    Haven't done these in so long that I wanted to see if I could do them. First few reps were a little off, but got back under control. Definitely gotten to the point where doing a leg raise into a hip thrust finishing in a shoulder stand is easy

    Elbow Levers on a Mat - Feet Elevated

    - 1 x 01 - 15s
    - 1 x 01 - 15s
    - 1 x 01 - 15s
    - 1 x 01 - 15s
    Was primarily focusing on getting more height. These weren't bad...just have to learn to get more confident holding them in the same position rather than struggling to balance

    Hanging Leg Raises into Hip Thrust

    - 1 x 05
    - 1 x 05
    - 1 x 05
    Did these. Hardest part was my hands still were sore from pull ups with the other bar. Certain bars aren't kind to hands.

    Notes:
    Well finally made it back to the power lifting gym. Got there and found out they were running the lights with a generator. A tree fell down and damaged the power lines. No big deal...until the generator ran out of gas. So was probably there only for an hour. Decided to go to my regular gym on the way home. Was really surprised with how quite it was given the time of the night. Typically it is a lot more crowded at that time. Then again, guess people are already traveling for the holidays

    Really noticing some nice progress with the forearm. Certainly getting stronger and tolerating a lot more than before...substantial a lot more. Hoping that maybe in a month, I'll be back to doing regular pull ups.

    Don't know when I'll hit the gym tomorrow. It is open until 6 PM...so should be able to fit in some time. Planning on doing Triceps/Legs . Not sure if I'll go to the gym on Friday...the gym is open, but I will have to be up to visit the kids at around 12 PM...so don't now if it is worth it and what I would even do.

    Bench Press

    Wasn't planning on doing regular bench today. I was planning on conserving my energy for a CGBP PR...but had some extra encouragement to hit 140 lbs before next Wednesday, so I wanted to give it a shot. It was a struggle but I got it up. Was soooo happy afterwards...couldn't stop shaking.

    Close Grip Bench Press
    - 1 x 12 - 55.0 lbs
    - 1 x 01 - 95.0 lbs
    - 1 x 01 - 105.0 lbs
    - 1 x 02 - 115.0 lbs
    - 1 x 01 - 120.0 lbs
    - 1 x 01 - 125.0 lbs
    I screwed up and thought there was more weight on the bar than there was. After I did that, figured it was too late to try and do bigger jumps and go for 130 lbs. So kept the increments low and since 125 lbs didn't feel that good...wasn't going to go for 130 lbs.

    Reverse Close Grip Bench Press
    - 1 x 11 - 95.0 lbs
    - 1 x 11 - 95.0 lbs
    - 1 x 07 - 95.0 lbs
    - 1 x 07 - 95.0 lbs
    - 1 x 07 - 95.0 lbs
    Got in another rep...but that did take some of it out of me the last 3 sets. The third set...my setup was awful which I think made things worst cause correcting that was quite taxing

    Cable Rope Triceps Pushdown

    - 1 x 12 - 30.0
    - 1 x 12 - 30.0

    Haven't done these in a while...been keeping tricep work to primarily pressing but decided to add these in. They didn't bother my elbow...or at least I didn't notice

    Bulgarian Split Squats

    - 1 x 05 - 45.0 lbs
    - 1 x 05 - 47.5 lbs
    - 1 x 05 - 50.0 lbs
    - 1 x 05 - 52.5 lbs
    Think next time I'll need to start playing around with holding two dumbbells rather than one

    Single Leg Extensions

    These are getting stronger little by little.

    Standing Calf Raises

    Did these the proper way based on that video I posted from earlier in the week. Definitely makes this a lot more difficult. Granted, I'm not very coordinated with them but doing it this method makes them twice as difficult if not more.

    Hinge Push Ups

    These were bugging my left arms so I stopped at 3 sets.

    Stair Master Calf Raises
    - 10 minutes

    So happy about the bench. After that, could barely focus on the rest of the workout...but still got in a good one. Got a few more PRs which was good and Bulgarian split squats are going pretty well. Hoping that will help get me a bit more quad definition.

    Thanks. Christmas was as best as can be expected given everything that was going on. Just a lot of things happened with really poor timing.

    Christmas

    Well Holiday's don't seem to be going well for my family the last couple years. With my sister being in the hospital for Thanksgiving 2014 after falling off the roof...well this Christmas delivered even more.

    My brother inlaw's father was omitted to the ER due to heart issues and had triple bypass surgery on the 18th. My father was omitted to the hospital on Christmas eve with his 4th bout of cellulitis. So my niece and nephews were very bummed this Christmas cause both of their grandfathers were in the hospital on Christmas. I did take my niece and one of my nephews to see my dad on Christmas day after lunch and their other grandfather came home yesterday and they got to see him tonight. My dad will probably be released in a few days after the antibiotics have taken care of the infection...but he is going to have to do something so he doesn't have this happen for a 5th time. This could potentially result in him losing a leg. And then to top it off, the kids were over at my place last night for a sleepover and they came upon a puddle of urine on the floor that was bright red. Turns out Blue had blood in her urine. Really freaked me out cause it was a similar situation that was the beginning of the issues with Rex that started 2 years ago right around this time of the year. Called the 24 hour vet to see what they recommended. They said as long as she was acting normal, to just monitor her and take her to her regular vet as soon as I can. So did that and got to the vet early this morning. They didn't notice any tenderness, they didn't feel any masses and there were no crystals in her urine sample so the figure it is just a urinary tract infection. Was so relieved to hear that, so just have to give her some antibiotics for the next two weeks. Kind of glad the weekend is almost over. Fortunately with all three situations...everyone will be fine, but quite a bit overwhelming especially for the kids. Hopefully next year will be better.

    Wanted to see what I could do with these. Haven't really figured out what my plan is after hitting 140 lbs so I just wanted to see what I could do. Wasn't planning on hitting 140 lbs since I consider that a definite max...so wanted to at least get 135 lbs. Managed to get it, but could definitely tell that I haven't recovered from the 140 lbs two days earlier.

    Push Ups

    Wanted to see if I could get in a max. Just have to be careful about keeping my back straight. Hard to do that with these since it makes it easier for the feet to slip.

    Was bored so wanted to try these. Didn't hurt my hand this time...think I could have beaten my max, but didn't want to hurt my hand like last time.

    I can tell when I'm doing these right cause my calves are burning and cramping up at 8 reps.


    Notes:
    Pretty good workout...was a little off though cause it was on Saturday instead of my typical Sunday chest day. Didn't get in as much leg work as I wanted to do since I had to pick up my niece and nephews for a sleepover and my niece was already texting me asking me when I would be there.

    Not sure what my plans are for with my bench. I was thinking about going back to doing something like 5/3/2...but my shoulders seem to really prefer singles with heavy weight and higher volume at lower weight. I'll have to give it a bit of thought along with figuring out some goals for 2016...New year coming means need to make some new goals.

    Got the entire next week off with the only goal I want to achieve is my bedroom painted...but realized I can hit the gym during the day rather than having to wait until the night. Not sure what it will be like earlier in the day during the week but I guess I'll find out tomorrow since I want to go there before evening since they are talking about freezing rain. But at least can get back to my normal routine...shoulders on Monday.

    Went to the gym early cause they were forcasting freezing rain this evening. Was surprised to see a lot of the evening regulars at the gym. Was really happy with how well the handstand push ups went. Just seemed to flow today better than ever before. Was bizarre, but hope it continues. Did a bit of abs, but tried to do stuff that wouldn't bother my back cause right now it is a bit off and going to the chiropractor this morning didn't seem to help it much. Will have to foam roll later.

    As for the bigger weight jump...they were good and bad. I definitely needed them to save energy for the heavy lift not to mention had I found 135 lbs to be difficult before attempting 140 lbs, it would have messed with my head. But what I did notice is that the more reps I do with a heavy weight...the faster my decent gets. So by doing less, I find the heaviest attempt's descent to be incredibly slow. Bugs the hell out of me cause I can't seem to get past that...the slow descent happens with weights I know I can handle. And it is only the last 3 inches where the descent slows down. It will be a nice smooth descent and then snail...it is like I'm thinking way too much and concentrating on making sure it touches (not that I have an issue with it not touching). Don't know how to get past that one.

    Don't know why, but when I got to the 40 lb dumbbell...my right arm went on strike. Went lower...but my arms decided we were done with this exercise.

    Barbell Drag Curls
    - 1 x 13 - 50.0 lbs
    - 1 x 10 - 50.0 lbs
    - 1 x 10 - 50.0 lbs
    - 1 x 10 - 50.0 lbs
    - 1 x 10 - 50.0 lbs
    Didn't want to get a PR with these, but rather the focus was to get all sets with a minimum of 10 reps.

    Didn't get as heavy as with the previous attempts...but it seems that if I neglect doing this every week...my forearm regresses a bit. Could have gone heavier, but didn't want to fight people for the other dumbbells since that area was getting crowded, so decided to try to burn out my biceps with the 12.5 lb dumbbell. Forearm didn't care to do that many.


    Notes:
    All I have to say is that I really need to stop neglecting my obliques. DOMS in less than 24 hours and is still going plus holding onto some serious water. Side bends seems to always be the exercise that hits them best for me...so have to do that at least once a week. But it is awful. LOL. Was talking to a few people last night and the one guy was joking around and I couldn't help but laugh...it HURT!!!

    My arm workout may have been effected by the fact that I'm trying to paint my bedroom...so that is probably affecting it a bit. Normally would have done legs today...but this week has got me all over the place since I have the entire time off. So decided to push legs until Wednesday...then back / abs on Thursday and Triceps / Legs on Friday (or not...).

    Still need to start figuring out what goals I want for next year. I know benching 135 lbs for reps is a big one even though I don't like doing many reps with the same weight with bench. Would love to get a muscle up but don't know if that is going to be obtainable especially given the equipment limitation. Will have to give it some though.

    I had a guy who doesn't normally lift with me spot me the other day...he laughed at me and said my descent was painfully slow lol. (Jokingly, he's a good guy). So if I could give you advice on how to fix it, I would, but you've seen my videos. Slow descent, grindy ascent. What's speed?

    I think the slower descent is kind of comp mind...I think ppl are used to going slow so the judge thinks it's a clean rep and they pause long enough, but actually, the quicker descent gets the faster press call. That might be a stretch but I think having a clean rep is always in your head if you do compete.

    So sorry to hear about ur dad being sick for the holidays...hope he's doing better. And Blue hoping for the best there too.

    Happy to see u both gonna make a run at the bench comp. U two gonna bury me! But I will hope for third or the participation trophy.
