Nothing spectacular today. I just went into the gym to get movement going. I traveled Wednesday last week. Took off Thursday. Then found out it was Double XP weekend for Black Ops. So I mentally unplugged from weights til today.
Ordered some new gear though. Will see how it all feels.

Alright cats out of the bag!!
So I had in the past done a lot of research on the Bulgarian and "Squat every day" programs. And considered running the peaking version of it. Mainly cause of form issues plus I'm so damned tired of being scared of the ****ing squats. Been squatting this week and I will admit it's interesting enough. Will start updating better next week.

Low Bar Squatting
360
420
480
525
420x2x3
360x6
Haven't low bar squatted in forever. Figured try it again with all the new knowledge I've learned about it. FYI don't lower then pins on set up. Huge mistake. Was 1/4 squatting weights out and was kinda a throw off.
The huge jumps were intentional. Need to get used to them. 525 looks like a grinder but it was bad positioning and you can see my left leg wasn't really being.......used. Wasn't a 1RM for certain as I ripped out. I like the slower control descend with low bar.

Bench Day
Whey Your Plates Edition
260
300
325 (grotesquely pinned)
325 (switched out plates)
315x4x5 (Slingshot)
225x10 (raw)
So if you've seen my videos you have noticed lately I have these steel drum looking plates. They always feel heavy. I've never cared to weigh them. I know they are heavy but when I compete it's a surprise when it feels "lighter". Since I started squating and deadlifting with two of them I figured why not bench with them like that. Ever since I've done that my bench warm ups and every thing has been WAY WAY OFF!! And you know 10 pounds in bench can feel like 50.
So 325 pinned the **** out of me. So I grabbed a random plate and..........
Not to surprised. I'll start using these plates to start stacking.

Low Bar Squat
360
400
460
Moved slowly AND my left arm started acting up. Like pain and pain. Jokes on me.....apparently the rack height Monday was right. Adjusted height. Worked back up to 460 and wasn't gonna push it. Hit 460 for 3 singles.
Then I loaded the bar up to 675 and did static lockouts just to shock my body.Last edited by JRMoore82; 03-10-2016 at 05:58 PM.

Oh hello! You probably thought I was dead. Well maybe a little on the inside. But I took some time away from the inter webs and video tapping.
Training has been interesting. I've been loading up all those steel drum plates and training with them. Just cause they feel heavier than ****. But now I have one final week to go and it's time to get the openers all figured out.
Come to find out the on my meet day there are only two flights. Should make for an interesting day.

I <3 Type!!
Squat
300x3
390x2
480
475x3x1
405x2x3
315x5
Sumo
135x3
225x2
315
405
465
505
555
Still trying to locate a squat opener. Leaning towards 495. Not always comfortable with the high weight. You'll see in the video how set 2 goes ****ty on 475 but the 3rd is fine.
I've been eye balling 555 for a deadlift opener. Figured ok, do a full leg day workout, 3 minute rest tops between each pull, no ammonia and see how it all goes. Went pretty well actually. Still gonna do rep work tomorrow but figured if I could reasonably get 555 today then should be good for the meet.

SUMO
Up to 555
465x2x3
405x2x5
Went up to 555 and the last part of the lift was gonna turn into a grinder so I put it down. Considering I did that fast test yesterday to it I'm not worried about it. Went into today figuring it would be a rep day. Form is coming along. Patience at the start is hardest part for me.

Oh dear god no! That would be a disaster!
It's on the 3rd. So yesterday was in a sense my last deadlift day. I have to do some pulls on Thursday but just singles.
I'm trying to be very careful lately with the too heavy thing. I put 525 on my back Monday for a squat but wasn't 100% sure I'ld hit it. Which is why in my video you see 480 then 2x475 was because I progressed the lift and could see it was gonna be too taxing. Other reason why yesterday I got 555 past my knee easily but lockout started to grind so I put it down.
All I got left is
Wednesday Bench (Heavy)
Thursday Squat (full training)
Friday Sumo (singles up to opener)
Saturday Bench (doubles)
Sunday Squat (opener)
Tuesday Benxh (opener 2x1)

Yeah man, but still, you've got to be careful with that sort of weight. Any slip ups there, and you could put yourself out.
Also, full CNS recovery is super-duper-incredibly important. After all, I want you to be completely fresh for the meet so you can rock it.
Then again, I don't know much about meet preparation.
I am pretty confident that you'll swing this bad boy home with their weight you're putting up, though. You're literally almost at 600 squat.

Trust me I'm still figuring it all out myself man. Granted this is my second meet. ive seen a lot of different opinions on how to prep for it.
The general consensus is
Deadlift 10-14 days out
Squat 7 days out
Bench 5 days out.
This seemed to work well for me last time. My second and third squat attempts were weights I had never tried before and I hit them. Deadlifts went better than expected as well. So it's the only experience I have to work with so far. Granted that was a 460 squat and a 550 deadlift.
No missed reps last two weeks of training. Honestly that's been the hardest part for me. Putting 525 on my back and rerackong it because I wasn't 100% sure I would nail it was a bitch. I probably stood there for a good minute just to walk away from it.
The only goal I will probably hit at my meet is my 600lb deadlift. My highest squat MIGHT be 585 and that's certainly not even something I'm dead set on.
And I'm not meaning that to even be a negative remark. Truth is ever powerlifters first goal is supposed to be to PR their total. That I will crush!
Sorry for long explanation.
Sup man! You got lots going on yourself so it's more than understandable!

BENCH
250x3
305
325x3x5 (slingshot)
260x3x3 (paused)(raw)
Again. Bench is easily my lift that scares the **** out of me. I've deloaded it a bit and am slowly working into an opener. 305 is way to easy. So Saturday we shall see.
Flexability is definetly up though. I can get a good arch and leg drive without a belt. Go me!!

Rolled out of bed fasted and still sore. Loaded up the heavy plates
SQUAT
Hit a 505 (face plate value)
405x3x3
Then did bench immediately
BENCH
325
355x3x1 (slingshot)
285x2x3 (raw)(paused)
Still have panic attacks at 325. This is absolutely insane. I've hit 335 for reps before and now that the meet is next week I can focus past 325. It's all mental I know it. But oh wel. I have a plan. Attempts posted soon.Last edited by JRMoore82; 03-26-2016 at 04:21 PM.

Bulgarian Peaking Method Thoughts (Squatting Everyday)
So I did the squat everyday thing for peaking making 495 my minimal. With such a variety of opinions I figured I would give it a go to squeeze out some extra poundage before the meet.
I found it to be the opposite and actually a bad decision. 495 has beenmoving slower. Going into this week my legs are still fried and I have two days to rest. And I haven't touched a weight since Monday (and that was bench).
I've also had a sinus infection now and I was 2 lbs over my weight class which really would have been a concern but
- I need to eat to recover now
- my main main objective was to pull 600 this meet. A higher total with that in tow. So I will probably be in the SHW class this time so I don't die.
For me I won't do it again. I saw no benefits to it. Even if I hit 545 (which is now my 3rd attempt selection) it isn't worth the stress my body has been under for awhile. And this is coming from someone who deadlifted 4x a week for months on end.
