You pretty much hit the nail on its head there. They charge as much as they can to maintain a near 50% net income without getting under the nose of regulators.

I was thinking the same way about the 200 because they already used it in late 2000. But a lot of those cards have confusing naming prefix. They have GT, GTS and finally GTX.
I used to have GTX 285 and GTS 250 on 2 PCs during those years due to my WoW addiction having 2 accounts lol.

But it will surely make it simpler to just continue with the current naming scheme. It must be a typo on the article saying 200.

Nah, it only supports PWM fans (4-pins).

*All fans plugged into the GRID+, including PWM fans, will only be controlled using voltage regulation from the CAM software.

Very good explanation of the current situation of Intel.

    Summarized:
    > COO of desktop, mobile and IoT sections quit
    > Margins of data warehouse are going down from 50% to around 40% (BEST CASE Scenario, numbers not accounting for AMD's insane 8 channel, 128 PCI express business CPUs)
    > 10 nm yields are sh!t
    > Acquisitions of multiple billion dollar companies (McAfee one of them), throwing money left and right
    > Tried to bribe their way into the mobile device market (Hello again, typical Intel, not their first time being shady) and they failed miserably

It seems like AMD is no more the company in a slump, but Intel.

Due to insane amounts of problems with the previous post I am posting once more.

Leaked benchmarks was first assumed to be of the Ryzen 1600X, but it's actually the R5 1500 based on the TDP of 65W.

I for one, am looking forward to AMD being more competitive CPU wise. Last time I rocked an AMD CPU was the FX-53 back in like 2004/2005 which ran like a champ

I'll loose basically no IPC per clockspeed (especially since my chip is a ****ty overclocker, only managed 4.1Ghz stable because temps limit it because of how much vcore it needs to be stable), but get double core count and hyperthreading.

I need the multi-core ability since I do a lot of CPU intensive work. Would really benefit me and I'd be able to run this sonbitch for a long long time. I really benefited from the Q6600 and getting onboard with quadcores early on, I had that chip for 5+ years. Doublepoints if I an get a good deal from a microcenter on a cpu\motherboard\ram combo...

I'm not sure if I want to upgrade now. I can probably squeeze out a few more years with a slightly more aggressive OC. Curious to see what Intel comes out with in 2 years. I don't do much to require a whole new platform. I barely game or do anything special.

Someone mentioned that, but if you look closely on the second picture - he is installing realtek drivers and they have a blue background.

CPU-Z and task manager are the same in both pictures (If I am not mistaken, I got the MSI CPU-Z so I can't double check).

A wise perspective. My philosophy is to let my applications dictate my advancements. When I have to wait for the computer, that's the time I need to consider upgrades, and 10% is just not worth the trouble to me.

In the mean time, there's much better places to spend like externals and or peripherals. That new chair I've been pining after for so long, for example. With my work a set of new desk, a set of color accurate monitors are what I covet the most. Then again, I'm speaking from my working class view point.

If you've got self control, you don't need the newest and latest. I can pick up a better GPU and play AAA games at ultra settings now. Do I really need Ryzen or the current gen i7? Nah. Would it be nice to own it? Sure. Why not?

You just need to upgrade every few years, maybe 3-5 years depending on things. If you've got a decent i7 and don't do any multi-tasking and crazy video editing, there is zero reason to upgrade for a long time. IPC improvements are really going to ****.

There is a sweet spot for price\performance where you start hitting diminishing gains for every extra dollar spent, that's usually a good metric of where to get pc parts.

Basically what I said. Although people with 2500Ks are seeing the burn now due to the processor being a bottleneck with a 1080, for example.

And that SKU is what, 5 years old? And they're barely lagging behind to the fastest single GPU on the market? Not ****ing bad lol. The leap from Pentium to Core2\4 was huge, and the leap to the i3\i5\i7 series was just as big. Massive IPC improvements.

We simply don't see that anymore. Short of some massive breakthrough in graphene technology to allow much smaller processes and efficiency, we simply won't be getting huge IPC gains like that anymore without basically a revolution. No wonder people are buying less PC hardware, it's diminishing returns lol.

Not barely lagging. I've read it's a bottleneck with a 1070, too. The jump to the first gen i3-i7 was huge, like the 920 on the higher end, but the generation after Nahelem, Sandy Bridge, blew Nehalem away. From Sandy Bridge to Ivy Bridge, there wasn't much improvement, and the same pattern followed suit up until now.

People aren't buying less hardware, per se. The polling data is based on prebuilt computers, not individual parts. It also doesn't take into account enterprise purchases. Prosumer hardware purchases have actually seen an uptick over the last six years.

Another bench. All I can say is wtf if this is real.
Its up there competing at a price of $259.
I included a similar bench result for 7700K since its not included in the 1st image. It even has the result with 4.8GHz clock.

Now I feel like this is just too good to be true. Ryzen's 3rd tier card getting results like this @ stock clocks.

Pretty sure that's not what it claims to be. I caught a link in an anand thread early yesterday morning that brought up that image. Though it was originally labeled as an R7 and not the correct R5. Either a typo or a misleading benchy.
