This is going back about 8 years, but Im not exactly sure at which part of my acceleration run the cop saw me. I was traveling through an area of town that has 3 sets of lights. Typically they break up traffic pretty well and its almost impossible to make all 3 lights if you stop at the first one. Well, with a 500hp+ viper I assure you it actually is possible to make all 3 lights.
I made it through the final light at a pretty high rate of speed. All of a sudden this cop comes out of no where on a motorcycle and rides up my ass with lights flashing. He keeps screaming at me to pull over, but I technically can't because the road has a massive embankment on the right side with no shoulder. If I pulled off the road I would have ripped the front of my car off. So when I did eventually pass the embankment he was super pissed I didn't smash my car up to get over immediately when he got behind me. So first he started yelling at me for that, then the acceleration through the lights, then he says I ran the last one and I should be arrested. I told him I wasn't sure how fast I was going and misjudged my speed. I apologized as I agreed my acceleration may have been a bit excessive. He made me wait forever as he took my stuff (license/registration) then told me he was just going to write me up for a red light, but if he sees me again driving like that again I would have hell to pay.

Little update -
Have court next week but lawyer received the discovery information from the trooper yesterday. He did not provide video though.
Said he clocked my friend at 114 passing me and me at 107.
To be honest this surprises me but clipping along at 100 isn't so hard I suppose.
Assuming that's true I guess I'm just lucky he didn't take me right to jail and impound my car. Continue wishing me luck Brahs lets hope my spotless driving record and rugged good looks help me out here.Best Lifts S/B/D

Don't know if it's been mentioned or not. Virginia, reckless driving is >20 mph over speed limit or anything over 80 MPH. Classified as Class 1 Misdemeanor with possible fine of around 3500$ and jail time, also 6 points on license. Good luck OP, my wife just got one on family trip to NC for turkey day for 86/70 Reckless and has hired lawyer. F*ck Virginia.

^ musta missed the update they clocked me at 107 on radar.
BUT I'm not posting to you brahs from Jail so there is that! Every mile an hour over 95 is a possible day in jail in Culpeper
Amended charge to regular old reckless.
$2,500 fine
90 days restricted license and
100 hours community service.
Doesn't sound like that great of a deal but according to everyone there, clerks, deputies etc got a heck of an outcome.
Goodbye spotless record. Goodbye 5 positive points. Could have been worse though
They'd had some guy in there doing 118 who got 23 days and a host of other stuff.Best Lifts S/B/D

God damn bro, you sure you couldn't have done any better or is Virginia just like that? I've heard of guys on the SVT forums and everything getting 100+ tickets knocked down to like $500 and nothing else.
Fastest I've ever done was 149.. If I would have continued for 1/4 mile more I would have been sh*tcanned.

damn wtf them charges are harsh. My driving record is **** probably had 25 tickets and half for speeding. I have not gotten a ticket in 4 years now though, never drive my car anymore.
I am really into turbo ****. Turbo bikes and turbo hondas. I have raced on the street for money for quite some time in the past. We never stopped for cops in the middle of the night. They would not chase, police departments here are not allowed to chase bike at all, like most pd's. But they follow, because bikers are mostly retards that think they need to go 180mph to outrun a police cruiser who wont even hit 100mph to follow you.
Anyways in high school I got pulled for wreckless if I remember correctly, or maybe careless. Cop says doing over 100mph. No insurance, no registration, and no licenses. towed my bike and ticketed for multiple ****. Also had bs plate on the bike.
Got everything dropped except a fine like $150
Racing again in detroit one cop chased and I left him but about 10 cops soon came out of nowhere, doing 140mph in the middle of the night on tight roads luckily escaped without any trouble that time.
Another time doing 140mph on a 40mph road, cop chased from distance. I ran and mile down road turned into what I thought was a sub, ended up being a dead end street. Turned my lights off and parked it. A minute later red and blue behind me. Got car towed and wreckless driving, drag racing. Sucked car got towed. Put in holding cell had to call taxi. Later court date and got deal for 2 points and $150. Not bad I guess.
Have alot more stories but involve alot more illegal activity lol. Crazy times. Never run from cops never worth it.
Other day I was tuning my car for winter, I was doing about 120mph if not more and slowed down, When I hit about 100mph in the left lane I see a cop in a charger in the right lane and slammed on my brakes. Car is not registered and insured. I only drive it once every few years. As soon as passed I knew he was coming. Luckily he had to go someplace I swear I looked into his eyes as he took the exit.

So basically you are looking at:
- The fine
- Another $1,500-3,000 total over the next 3-6 years on insurance depending on your carrier and coverages
- 90 day restriction (assuming it's either a "course of work" restriction meaning can only drive to work and like go to the grocery store, gym, etc while en route -or- can't get another moving violation in that time or a heavier penalty will be enforced)
- 1 day per week for the next 3 months to fulfill comm. svc. requirements
- Attorney fees (if you did end up using one)
Honestly...is it really worth it? Might be time to look into doing track days with a local club or autocross to get your rocks off. I'm no angel. Was nailed doing 133 in Oregon some years back. Thought I was going to jail for sure but luckily had a massively cool cop and only wrote me for 77. And I understand, had a '68 SS Camaro and doing 120 felt like nothing so letting your speed get away from you is easy if you're not paying attention.
Hindsight tells me though, that money and time dealing with this crap would be better spent on brake pads and spare wheels/tires for hitting the track. Yeah, it could have been worse but what you did get hit with sucks balls pretty hard, too.No Cliffs

Yeah Va is rough for traffic. And even more so on its own residents. Alas, what can you do? Sounds like I should move to AZ.
90 day restricted and some community service isn't the worst thing. More upset about the 100 hours. My time is valuable.
My insurance should stay relatively even. I'm paid up through August and given my history I'll have no points on my license after the fine due to my positive points and took a defensive driving course. So not too worried there.
The 2,500 is a real kick in the nuts though haha. I make good money so it's certainly not life altering but there goes half the better halfs Christmas presents.
I already do high performance driving events, track days etc. I used to race motorcycles in CCS. Is it worth it doing this on the streets? Of course not. Do I normally drive like this? No. Buttttttt it happens.Best Lifts S/B/D

Its crazy how different the laws are in different states. A friend of mine had the speedo wrapped on his 300+ HP Monte Carlo in a 40mph zone and passed a cop going the other direction. He just pulled over before the lights even came on and ended up getting off with a 15 over ticket. Couple hundred bucks and a few points, but nothing in comparison to your situation.

OUch brah, that's some pretty steep repercussions. Glad you didn't end up in the slammer though.
About 6 years ago I got popped for a wreckless driving + endangering the public. 6 point ticket in Michigan with mandatory license suspension + fines. Paid a lawyer $500 and he got it dropped to careless driving which was 3 points and only a fine of $385 if I remember right. VA sounds strict as all hell!If you can rely on your ability, you don't have to worry about reliability.
