are you aware that he is talking about the political outcomes associated with capitalism? That's the part you're not talking about ITT, and I suspect that is because you didn't read/don't care what the quote says. Your interest is just in detailing the meanings and nuanced difference between capitalism and socialism. That's really fun but it has nothing to do with the thread, you are just grinding an axe.
I'll ask again, do you deny that his premise proved to be true? He said that capitalism will naturally drive all political power from the electorate and into the hands of private industry. This precisely happened, this is where we are, right now.
Stop getting all juiced up about your last economics class and think about that.

It is tricky to define precisely because there have been variations of it over time, with varying levels of government intervention on the free market.
Basically there have been four distinct stages:
During ‘Capitalism 1.0’ up until the end of the First World War, economics and politics generally did not mix. Capitalism 2.0 was the Keynesian approach to economics, whereby governments had to intervene and spend to rescue economies from the depressions and mass unemployment of the 1930s.
The third incarnation of capitalism was the Reaganomics/Thatcherism era where western governments implemented their controversial monetarism policies and market fundamentalism was left with as few restrictions as possible to do its own thing. This seemed to all work rather well until the collapse of some banks such as Northern Rock (UK) and Lehman Brothers (US), which led to the last meltdown.
And now we here at Capitalism 4.0 in the post GFC era, with the one constant being the rich and powerful get richer and more powerful regardless of the system.

To answer you legit. Why would I listen to someone(Einstein in this case) over an expert? Because learning and studying is a habit that requires skills/patience/creativity which obviously Einstein demonstrated as an individual.
You could have a regular Joe wit no patience, no creativity, no discipline who proclaims themselves as a "scientist" "teacher" "what have you" .. basically a drone following the higher up's inheriting a position of importance.. i rather follow someone who has talent .. not someone who wants to make $ so they choose that as their profession
IDK man thats just my two cents -- but I'm sure you've met quite a few incompetent people in a profession they shouldn't be in whilst spending years and years in their field..disclaimer: nothing i post should be taken seriously. if you happen to be offended then i've done my job and im laughing at u

I'm not attacking Einstein as he is not trying to predict the future as some people ITT think, but rather your perception of the system today as a capitalist one as there is obviously collective ownership of the means of production today. Nice strawman though
There is no definition of capitalism here so I will define it for you: Capitalism is an economic system with private ownership of the means of production. Socialism is the exact opposite to this so that today's system (and pretty much all systems before it) cannot be defined as either capitalism or socialism but rather a mixed system as it contains both kinds of ownership of the means of production*Conspiracy Crew*

Yeah yeah, capitalism is bad, but the type of "socialism" we get is lazy *******s who want to mooch off the welfare and get everything for free while driving the whole economy down to hell. That's a problem. I'm sick of my paychecks being cut to feed some crackhead who spreads her legs for orgasm and plows 10 kids that will all grow up into a thug criminals anyway. I would be happy with socialism if everyone was a honorable person, but the sad fact is that %90 of population are a scum who cares about nothing but personal benefits while showing a middle finger to everyone else. They abuse the system. How can we have socialism in such society?

We never had pure capitalism. Capitalist economies require an absence of political power.

So according to your opinion and that of your source, you claim true capitism has never existed yet it works 100% of the time? How is that exactly? It works, we've never had it, but it works. Trust me....? That sounds a little like religeon to me. You have too much faith in something even you admit has never existed and thus cannot be proven.

It absolutely can be proven both rationally and empirically, and it existed, according to some people, for multiple centuries in ancient Ireland.
We have never had pure capitalism in modern times.
