I was thinking exactly the same about those 3 bolts. I can only assume that there is at least some short central spindle taking the weight and those bolts are just to clamp it back to the flange without bearing any real weight. Would be interesting to exactly see how it is constructed.

Meet Mrs. Johansson
Mrs Tyra Johansson - the lady who made the decision to manufacture the first ever Eleiko bar in 1957.
The history of the Eleiko weightlifting bar began at a small factory in Halmstad – a factory that manufactured electrical products. In 1957, the supervisor Mr Hellström, who worked on assembling waffle irons, received permission from the managing director, Mrs Johansson, to produce a sample weightlifting bar. As it happens Mr Hellström had a fervent interest in weightlifting, a sport which at the time had big problems due to weightlifting bars breaking all the time. A bar of a special, hardened kind of Swedish steel was produced, as well as metal weightlifting discs. The knurling of the bar appropriately received a waffle pattern.
Check out the odd long barreled dumbbell below Mrs. Johannsson's knees.()---() York Barbell Club #67 ()---()

Oleksiy Torokhtiy visiting the Eleiko factory recently... Most of it is in English, from around 1:40
I´ve seen a few Factory visits before but this one shows some of the new facilities there in Halmstad. Beautiful location right on the beach.

The old with the new! So when were these plates sold?
Yes, I like this "Ă–PPEN" deadlift bar a lot. It feels balanced. The knurling is great, like their competition bars. It's a cinch to load and unload plates. It makes me wonder why someone hadn't thought of it long ago.
Yes, loading a 50kg plate to an empty bar will tip it.

Noticed a bit more oxidation on my powerlifting bar today. I get used to having a dry basement all winter and I haven't wiped down the bar in months. I've had this bar maybe three years and the white 'ghostlike shadow' appeared the first year. Done that on a couple places; only on the smooth parts of the galvanized shaft.
Today I saw this, the faintest bit of rust.
Wanted to kick myself. I'm terrible about maintenance.()---() York Barbell Club #67 ()---()

The Competition Powerlifting Bar is bare steel with chrome sleeves. The current Performance Powerlifting Bar is chrome with chrome sleeves. My older Performance bar is galvanized with chrome sleeves. I don't know when they changed the makeup. I only noticed recently that they had when I was looking hard at getting the XF Bar.
I've only hit the rust with an oiled rag and a plastic bristle brush. Did that before I took the picture. I'm not too bothered by it but I'll work away at it sometime.()---() York Barbell Club #67 ()---()

Thanks, I feel like the only thing that kept me sane during the pandemic was building my home gym. I'm very thankful I was one of the lucky ones who had a job and some extra disposable income while everything was closed. The idea was to not go back to a commercial gym and approach things from an investment standpoint, it's worked out pretty well so far.

Yes indeed. I actually picked up some Eleiko XF bumpers (6-45s and 2- 25s) this month and they might be my favorite plates I've ever purchased. They are easy to handle (not slick), and are SO quiet when deadlifting and oly lifting. I'm using a very quiet bar (American Barbell SS Oly Comp) and they are a perfect match. The inserts on the XF bumper are perfectly smooth too so glide on the bar nicely. My last bumpers, Rogue Urethane, had a rough metal insert which sounded terrible when putting them on a bar and annoyed the crap outta me. Yes, the XFs have a huge width, but I can always throw on some metal 45s for deadlifting when needed. I really dig that I can take these XF bumpers outside too if I so desire. Free shipping made these things CHEAP! Very, very pleased with them.

Nothing new, but I was just browsing the Eleiko outlet shop and saw a curious item...... someone in the equipment forum NEEDS one of these...... not me, but someone. I had no idea that such a product existed, but I guess it makes sense for those big boys pushing the big weights and striving for records. Watched the video, pretty impressive if it works.

The only comment I have on this, after having purchased a few new Eleiko bars over the years, is the knurling where it stops and starts is not always as nice and clean as other companies (like American Barbell). On all of my Eleikos, there was some feathering off on the knurl, which just didn't "look" as nice as a sharp stop. As far as the knurl feeling like it should, I was never disappointed in how the knurl felt when I purchased my "Sport Training" Bars and then my 'weightlifting training" nxg bar.
That being said, I've loved all the Eleiko bars I've owned as far as quality and actually use. I don't currently own one, but would buy one again in a heartbeat.Equipment Crew #68, Ivanko Crew #47, Rogue Barbell Club #7, Mech6 Crew #30
