I am 40 yo and started lifting recently. At 5'8" my arms are 16.75 inches flexed. Is that a good arm size?

That's too general of a statement. 16.75" is good if they are all muscle, defined, etc. My mother has 17" arms but no muscle... just saying...

This is just one of the reasons I hate the tape measure method of tracking progress. Aside from the fact that fatceps are indistinguishable in measurement from muscle, how can you be sure that you are measuring the same way every time without actually having lines tattooed on your body? We're looking for incremental changes here as progress comes slowly, and we're going to trust a method of measurement that may be invalid if our instrument is just a few degrees off from the last time we measured?
