Didn't look like at my USAPL meet it was a deadlift. Felt really stiff till 545.

Jesup might be a good option. Save my OHP. I know lifetime warranty.....but still.....don't wanna use it with bands and I have no issues dropping a deadlift if it feels off.

I actually do think he has some sort of growth hormone disorder.

He is over 6' but has the proportions of a dwarf. Actually a bit like Josh Morris...

And his hands are ridiculous.

Much more than 500 and you get a pretty good whip out of a texas power bar, though. They use a less stiff material than the comparable spec power bars.

Just watched my meet video.

545 no whip. Very minimal bend.

590 bent a little more but stiff off ground.

Yeah, this American armwrestler Jeff Dabe has even crazier hands, and he said he underwent a lot of tests and doctors couldn't find anything wrong with him.

But big forearms gonna forearm....






I saw a thread where an arm-wrestler had pictures taken comparing his hand size with both Cyplenkov and Dabe, and Dabe's hands were bigger. Crazy thing was, they've been like that since he was born. Baby pic:



Dabe has been pretty much undefeated in all the regional comps he's done. I haven't seen him do many high level competitions. I saw Bagent "beat" him once, but if you follow arm-wrestling, you know that about half of Bagent's wins appear to be him just jumping the signal and starting before his opponent is ready.

Didn't feel called out. If you're competing in USPA 100% of meets should be using a deadlift bar so you should contact either the meet director or Steve Denison directly about that.

Just contact the meet director. No need to bring the president of the federation into it.

Steve is pretty involved in what's going on. I agree that the meet director is the first step, but I think the fed. prez would want to know

Train (at least mostly) with what you'll be competing with on the deadlift. If you train for the whip you'll perform badly on a stiff bar. I think there are benefits to the reverse, but I wouldn't train with a deadlift bar for stiff bar pulling.

Just rest but if you must really insist on going, some light squats wouldn't be a bad idea.

Steve is pretty involved in what's going on. I agree that the meet director is the first step, but I think the fed. prez would want to know

He's involved, but he's also a busy guy. I direct USPA meets and a ton of lifters go over my head to ask Steve simple questions that I could have handled. All he does is forward the email to me so I can answer it. This introduces an unnecessary middleman and delays the question from being answered.

8 weeks is a long-ass time to get ready

unless you're really weak, in 8 weeks you won't get enormously strong(er), but getting ready to hit 3 singles at the best of your capabilities? definitely enough time

any of you that hook grip. Do you do it more like the left side grip or the right side one in this picture?



I have always tried to do it like the right side but I don't think I have big enough hands for that to make sense and should just grab it like the left side does. Is that a standard hook for people with not monster hands?

in a tiny sample size I've been able to get decent feeling grips with the left style just basically grabbing the top of my thumb only
