Good day, went 9/9 despite no PRs.
Also had to save a guy in the warm up room when he decided to just max out in there for some reason, first time ever seeing that.

Larry is a monster. Totaling 10x body age. So that 242 no wraps record should be stagnant for a while now. Went from Pacifico in 73 at 2080, to Green in 2014 with 2083.
Then Rivas broke it early this year. Then Larry broke it at BoB3, only to have Andrew Herbert take it an attempt after Larry in the same meet. Then Tee Popoola broke it with 2099. And finally Larry Wheels emerges as King of the 242s with 2171 which is a huge improvement on the record, and not just chipping it up like the previous ones this year.
JP totaled 2358 no wraps. Almost broke Ray's brand new record too.YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/NorthStrongSC

A couple years ago I said Larry was the biggest freak in the sport and would have a world record someday. Hope he moves up to 275 now. Really have no idea what the kid is capable of.

Only watched about half of the bench attempts, but yes some of the commands seemed really fast.

Some of those benches were basically touch and go.

Lifted friday night at a USAPL meet in San Antonio. Push/Pull with the choice of a token squat.
Only did this meet since two of my friends were doing it also and as a way to set a qualifying total for mens nationals next year.
Well, nothing went as planned. I was probably the most beat up and least prepared for this meet than any other meet prior. I knew the total was gonna be decently tough to hit but manageable given how i felt.
My plan was to a hit a raw squat in the low 5's, bench in the low 5's and pull whatever i needed to get the total which was 1670 for 120+.
Turns out this meet was small and ended up only being us three, a few randoms, and a large team of lifters from a middle school. Therefore it was moving at the fastest rate i have ever witnessed.
About 6 weeks ago i popped my right trap badly on a deadlift. So i have done no squatting or pulling since then. Had very little confidence.
Smashed a fairly decent 518 token squat. So i was already set up for the total.
At this point the meet is moving so fast, that i literally pull off my knee sleeves and have to start warming up for bench. My roommate who was planning on hitting a big shirted bench had to switch to raw since we had zero time to warmup. I get in a ****ty 315 to set the shirt. Jump to 405 for a 1 board. I end up timing out of my opener of 451. I retake it for my second. Moved fast off my chest but slow at top. At this point im thinking that there is no way im getting the total so i tell my friend to pick a 3rd attempt for me. He chooses 496. I actually managed to press it all the way up but got called on a slight dip near lockout.
This means that i have to pull over 700 to get the total. lol.
So im already not too confident in my pull given how my trap/neck is feeling. Open with 584. Moved to 628. Then for a stiff bar PR of 661 which moved really well. I got the lift but something popped real bad in my neck at lockout.
Had i gotten the bench, i would have had the total. Im actually slightly relieved because this would mean that i would need to start training for mens in few weeks and my body needs a long time to heal up.
I dont even want to think about picking a meet until the end of next year. Maybe i will be healthy enough by then to qualify for 2018 or just set a big total.

I wonder how much he has to cut to get to 242s. If it's not much I think he has more to put on the platform as a 242. If not, then yeah the 275 no wrap class is kinda wide open right now I think. Zahir is the freakiest 275er going, but he's always in wraps, and he might be done with 275s for now.
275 no wraps might be the new frontier though, seems like it will be the easiest total record to break for the next while, just like the 242s was for this year lol.

They put you guys on a time clock for that small of a meet? Ive done all USAPL meets here and they never do that, then again Ive only seen like 2 geared lifters ever at them, but they're all done by 4-5 even with 100-120 lifters.
Anyone in here with intermediate/advanced strength levels successfully cut 30-50 pounds and manage to keep most of their strength? Going to do that over the next few months but don't want to lose a big amount of it.

This meet was a friday night meet that started at 6pm and lasted 3 hours tops.
Everybody was raw except us. Also they ran two platforms which really screwed us. Made no sense but these middle schoolers were new and hitting 20kg to maybe 80kg tops on bench and pull.
Not what we were expecting but we rolled with it.529/380/650 (1560@293 raw)

stefanie cohen broke the 123 total record and broke the squat record by 1lb with 370, unsure what she totaled
her progress in the 2016 calendar year alone is just insane, she started off with a 370ish deadlift and just did 440"classic Miscer dilemma...

That sounds really annoying. I hate when there's no time to warmup. If I was just training in the gym it would probably take me longer than 3 hours to do equipped squat, bench, and DL. I wonder why they held it at night, seems like a terrible idea.
What do you think is up with your neck/trap on DL?

Any of the fam interested in some 2.5m THPs / Sig golds?
Going to be just competing in IPF affiliates now so the 2.5s don't do me any good. 1 pair of THPs is unused, one was used a fair amount but still in good condition. One pair of sigs unused and one is barely used.
Will sell them for cheap.YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/NorthStrongSC

Election day broke the fam thread.
Make fam thread great again pls.
Seems like the powercast will actually have some interesting guests the next while. Larry Wheels, Ray Williams, Greg Panora and probably Donnie Thompson. Looking forward to those.YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/NorthStrongSC

IPF Worlds starts on Sunday. I'll be there Friday and Saturday for the 84/84+, 120 and 120+. Hoping Liane can hold off everyone in the 84's and Joe can make a run at the top of the 120+ on Sunday. Should be fun to watch in person either way.
Also, got in my squat suit for the first time in about 7 months. Only took 230kg for a double, but my spine is mostly still intact. So that was cool.
