Jim Hellwig competed in the Mr America contest and wanted to become a pro BBer, prior to getting his break in wrestling. Here is an email that Warrior sent me in 2011.

My off-season routine in the early-mid 1980s was Squats and Deadlifts on Mondays and Thursdays, Chest and Back on Tuesdays and Fridays, and Delts and Arms over the Weekends. At this time I was Incline Benching 495 for 4 reps, Barbell Rowing 405 for 4 Arnold/Haney style and I would clean a 360lb barbell, press it over my head, sit down and press it behind my neck six times. 700lb Squats.
On the road in my wrestling peak, I trained seven days a week, sometimes twice a day, fast paced workouts, usually hitting Chest, Delts and Arms every 3rd day, Back and Legs on the other days.
In the 1970s on my way up I was using a 20 rep Squat program with pullovers and powerlifting work.

If anyone wants a cringe, here's TUW's VHS workout tape.
The scary part? In the 90s, nothing looked kitsch or weird about this at all. THAT's how fast the world changes, people.
We're dodging more ninjitsu attacks than Flex Wheeler. We're ducking more bullets than George Farah. We're facing more death than a kid leg pressing at Branch Warren's gym.
You can't stop us. You can't hold us back.
IFBB brahs über alles.
