After lots of thought I've decided to dump all my savings in 2 stocks with strong history and good dividends. The way I see it either the market crashes and we're all fuked or I'll have a nice stack of cash in 10-15 years. Will update in 2026 with results.

I'm calling 2016 as the peak for oil inventories. They're at off the chart record highs (not seen in 86 years) so starting 2017, they'll begin a decline until oil is obselete as new technologies and innovations take its place.

Oh for sure its got quite a few decades of usage left, but I'm just saying demand will be fairly low in the future. And oil inventories will never be as high as they are right now, oil reserves have peaked in 2016.

Lol.. I know you're joking, but that would be less of a surprise to me. If we are speaking lifetime, I could see innovation that makes oil close to obsolete in 50+ years. Implying oil will be obsolete in the time frame of any of our investment theses is another statement entirely.

That's the laziest investment strategy I've ever heard. I hope you get rewarded for your lack of effort.
Haha I'm long JG indicator was tripped again with that post lol.
Oh well it sounds like he's doing well. I'm not sure how since he's almost always a market bear in almost all facets.
All time peak ... Ummm no! For now maybe but emerging countries will be using more and more oil in the future and will have to have additional reserves. I don't see electric replacing oil any time soon and you forget that energy is only one use of oil. As the world population increases, we will see greater oil consumption, until such a time where there is a foreseeable end to the reserves in the ground. By that time you'll be paying $1000/tire and $100/galMy $0.02 is worth $0.03

I read that Tesla overall produces more CO2 emissions that normal fuel petrol cars, and considerably more nitrous dioxide, sulphur dioxide etc emissions, because 30% of US power generation is still coal . In addition to taking more energy to build these cars.
Stats like rustle the electric car retards so fooking hard.

^ Making the battery which powers the Prius is more environmentally damaging than building and driving a truck. I hate Prius drivers too.

I would never buy an electric car but some people love them. I see Tesla's all over the place rich people love them and Tesla got over 200,000 deposits for model 3s. I think we need to see longer range or a way to swap batteries out as easy as filling up your gas tank to bring electric cars more market share.

Gonna try and get back in sub $31. I might cave and get in sooner. Depends what news drops. If they get a disappointing news update could see $28 again with some panic. Sold at what I considered overbought territory; most of the time a stock can't sustain a 20% rally over a couple of hours. I think it will stay down until late April when the updated 10k is released at which point it will go back to 50+ if all goes as planned. I think I'll get back in where I want to though.
Edit: preparing a put for tesla. I just realized that only 200k cars from a manufacturer are allowed the 7.5k tax credit. Also the model 3 gonna cannibalize higher cost Teslas. Not to mention the cash being hemorrhaged to set up. They are gonna have to raise more money through debt and equity so I expect a poor quarterly report. 263 as we speak now is waaaay overpriced Musk tryna keep the shorts down but it won't work I will tell you thatLast edited by woodbarry; 04-06-2016 at 10:59 AM.

it was actually $130, it bought me 2 30.50 calls for april 16th.
just sold all 4 of my 30 strike. been hemorrhaging money from gm shares so its good to make that all back.
i'll hold the 2 30.50 calls for another week or so. you arent in the money yet with that june contract but it has gotta be up significantly. just looked it up, 50% up now?
edit: i should read before i post, you sold your position.Last edited by Gothwaite; 04-06-2016 at 10:59 AM.

P/L on that?
People quickly forget that what you use is not what WAS used. I've never looked at a carbon footprint for 10yr car lifecycle with daily use. It would be a very interesting paper. Gas vs Electric (and yes I'm talking about all the way back to production of both utilities)My $0.02 is worth $0.03
