I got one when I was 20 (dumb fuk thing to do). My aunt is a lawyer and so I asked her if she would represent me. She told me that there is no need for one since you can ask for A.R.D. and they will grant it to 99% of the time with or without a lawyer. I live in Pennsylvania and haven't had any previous charges so your situation may be different though
Get A.R.D. get the classes out of the way, and for the love of god stop driving drunk. I wrecked into a pole and split that thing in half man, it's no joke. Had I not had my seatbelt on I wouldn't be typing this out right now. You are driving a machine of death to begin with, show some responsibility

I really don't know anything about the margin of error. Usually you blow more than once in a 3-5min time span to get a good reading, though. I do know as long as the machine has received it's scheduled calibration and the logs of said calibration are correct, the results are going to hold up in court.
I should add that (in my state at least), the results from the portable breathalyzers that the cops carry aren't admissible in court. If you blow over on the portable unit, they take you to the jail where the Intox EC/IR II machine is and you blow again, and that one is admissible in court.Last edited by da2ricky; 09-13-2015 at 08:13 PM.

I got one over 4 years ago while in Germany. Lost friends, couldn't get in apartment I was suppose to stay at, it was 6 am and starting to get light out, thought o was good etc. got pulled over on way home blew a .18...had been drinking all day, was just saturated. Fuked up my career a bit but bounced back. Just take cabs now, it gets expensive but much better then the alternative. I also live by a bar I can walk to. You can recover, learn from it and don't do it again.

I got mine downgraded to wet reckless, I was told to blow three times and blew .07 .09 and .08 all within 15 minutes. Didn't know my rights at the time, and I agreed to have blood taken and that showed below legal limit as well. Still have 7 years of zero tolerance probation though. If I get pulled over and have any alcohol show up its an automatic dui and the wet/reckless will be upgraded to dui.

Miscers in here saying they would never drink and drive probably have done it before without even knowing. Ever gone to a party, got hammered, stayed the night, and left early in the morning? Good chance you were over the legal limit.

Lmao just no. In ym state if you refuse to blow I believe it's an automatic suspended license for a year on top of anything else. Well I had a dui last year, blew a .1 and hired a lawyer, he got the judge to sentence me to pbj and all I had to do was take some classes, mva suspended my license for 60 days (except for work and alcohol-related classes, so I could still drive when I needed to) and unsupervised probation for six months. I did my probation, and my classes, and have no conviction on my record.
Tell me how that's worse than mandatory losing your license for a year at the very least, and theoretically being convicted anyway? I would definitely get a lawyer if I was op

You are defending him by negging people scrutinizing his choice to dui in the first place. I'm not making that up and it's as clear as day. That is also a massive assumption to claim that everyone deviates from the traffic standards, even if it were true, dui is a major deviation that costs people their fuking lives which you don't seem to understand the gravity of. Criticizing OP for drink driving and having a moral superiority complex are very different things. Hope you feel better about neglecting road rules while driving because "other people do as well".

Well you were dancing on the line of legal so I'm not surprised you got off with a lesser charge. I was charged years ago and I blew a .09, .07, .07. The trooper decided not to charge me but the magistrate charged me anyway. It got dropped in court but it still cost me quite a bit of money. Lesson learned, I don't drink and drive at all, ever.

TFW you have a Commercial Driver's License. Like .04 and you lose your CDL. Can get pretty close to a .04 from taking NyQuil last night.
My cousin had to have that interlock thing installed, for awhile I didn't think he was gonna make it. Had probation from DWI, had to work to satisfy probation, got in his truck one morning after a night of whiskey and cokes and truck was not going anywhere.
If I go somewhere where I'll be drinking it better be somewhere I can throw up a tent. Otherwise it will be oh hi, here's a gift card, congrats on your whatever, see ya laterDon't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Live and learn OP. I sub contract work out to a guy that is just finishing up voluntary jail time after 3 DUI's in 6 years. He just got his license back but with 98764625654 conditions attached. Prior to that he had to hire a driver just to drive him around for work. He made about 50 calls to different insurance agencies and nobody will insure him. Finally one company did and guess what his rate is for third party liability only ($2 million coverage)....

I got a DUI for falling asleep in my car with it turned off in a CVS parking lot, when my parents kicked me out for retarded sht when I was 18.
Wasn't even drunk. Had gotten wisdom teeth removed a few days earlier, and was on low dose vicodin for pain.
Me being naive and not knowing anything about the law, let them do a blood test on me. Boom DUI. Oh and the dogs shredded the seats of my '08 G35, and ripped out the console panels.
Would have hire a lawyer but I didn't have $4k to spare.
Couldn't get a license for two years after that,
BRB had $600 cash in my wallet, bailed myself out like a boss.
