I think the first DUI should come with mandatory 6 months in prison and 1 year of suspended license after that. 2nd DUI should be 15 years in prison. Too many people drink and drive, which tells me that the risk is not greater than the reward, so the penalties need to be increased.
I have no fukin tolerance for shiitheads like you who drink and knowingly get behind the wheel and put the lives of innocent people in danger.NJ • 732

Tbh... For your first time DUI lawyers are pretty much useless. At least in Illinois. The courts pretty must always give you court supervision for your first. Expect a **** ton of alcohol classes blowing a .24.. Also I had to get an interlock device for a year... Sucks and also embarrassing, but better than the alternative of not driving.

um whaaattt? I know many people who can drink 8-10 beers and still be good...while someone has 1 and is all over the map.
Blood alcohol readings are outdated...they don't measure the drunkness of the person..
IMO after you drink @ the bar you should (under supervision) take your car for a lap around the block. If you are good you drive home, if not keys get taken away

I am not saying what he did is right and should be defended. You are making that part up. Read my posts again. I am saying that we are no better. Everyone in this thread has deviation from traffic standards, yet we are all pretending to be better for some reason. It is moral superiority complex. Narcissism at it finest. Hope you feel better about yourself cause someone else did something........

I don't know what state you're in, but best case scenario in california is mandatory 30 days license suspension, a fine, Sr-22 insurance, probation and a bunch of classes. Hopefully you've learned your lesson and won't do it again. That whole ordeal was a huge eye opener for me, and I'm pretty sure I was the only first timer out of all the people in my classes.

in my state anything over .08 and you lose your license on the spot for a year, get community service, and take a class. Anything over .16 and you are also required to have an interlock installed that you have to blow in to start your vehicle. You get to pay to have it installed, maintained, and taken out at the end.

Texting is worse than driving drunk
Not getting into the details because on mobile but look it up
Glancing at your phone for even 2 seconds while driving 35 mph you travel x amount of yards essentially with your eyes closed
At least if you had a few beers and drove considering you were watching the road it would be safer than checking a text for 2 seconds
And let's be honest when People read "driving drunk" they assume the person was annihilated
Not always true, most of the time they just blew over the limit which could have been only a drinks in a short amount of time and they were still congzinent
Hardly enough to really cause any danger but still charged as a dui simpley for the breathalyzer*no crew* crew
