Lmao. I picked up a couple cheap bullet smokers a couple months ago and combined them (along with a few more pieces) to make a much more useable smoker. Did three racks of baby backs for Xmas Eve and will do a couple chickens this weekend, since it should be back up into the mid 50's/low 60's by then.

Had this happen once last year. I lit some charcoal with a starter brick at the bottom of the egg thru the vent door. This actually lit the residual charcoal in the egg above the grate. The egg got warm enough and opened right up.

Another article I found said it was ~$500k for the 1000W version in the video. The 50W version is around $50k.

    Professional restoration territory only.

Yikes! - That's pricey. I'm trying to imagine what sort of work one might do to get the 1000W version to pay for itself.

It's a price point that only the US gov't or military will consider. So they'll sell hundreds of them

Very high-end auto restoration is the only thing I can think of and even then the ROI would take a lot of volume and time. I'm sure there are some very niche / specialized industrial businesses that could justify it. But, that's not a world I'm familiar with...

The page associated with the link you posted earlier mentioned shipyard use. I'd guess that the cost of repainting a ship might be quite high and being able to strip paint quickly so as to reduce time in dry dock would be very beneficial. It may well pay for itself for that application. I'm wondering too if it might find uses in the aerospace industry.

i saw an episode of deadliest catch where they were overhauling a ships' engines. they cut the hull to get the engines in and out and then had to strip every inch of the inside via media blasting to repaint it once the old engines were out.

im guessing this is nice because theres less cleanup and potentially less hazardous? or something

still i want one for my plates and bars
