Nice article. I enjoyed seeing all the pics with a description. I remember when a lot of it was acquired, piece by piece. You have a great gym, AttyGuy.

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I wouldn't. I had a chance to win the 5 and 10 lb good dumbbells on ebay the other day. I passed. Too rich for me. I only have about 500 in my 0.25 to 75 globe collection. My 0.5 to 100 roundhead set is free many times over.

Dave did a great job and it appears I got a side mention and nod in the article too which was cool of him to add in there.
Thanks, man. I started here nine years ago with a PowerTec bench press rack and some crappy CAP plates. I learned a lot from this forum and from IH (until the old lades and I couldn't get along anymore.) Dave's a solid guy. I have a lot of respect for him.

It's never complete. I sold some plates recently and I have to go up to NJ to see Gene soon. But, as far as stuff I actually use, it's probably complete. I do have to get rid of the treadmill. I don't use it anymore, and I want to move the Peloton into the gym.

See, I'd consider your collection of stuff to be kind of like a museum as well.

awesome bud! I love seeing the more detailed pics. York stuff just doesn’t pop up with any sort of frequency in CO to make a go of getting a solid collection. But I think I NEED one of those York split sleeves! I like having mostly American made stuff as well, the quality is just next level. Was it another forum member who took the pics?

Congrats on the feature, those were definitely some nice pictures taken of the AttyGym a while back. Has everything stayed the same since then or have you bought other stuff? I know it's been quite a while since those were taken.

Edit: And HOLY CRAP, I was 25 years old when I started posting here!

HOLY CRAP, I was only in my 40's when you joined!

I have a Peloton now and added Boombell kettle bells, plus the late Dr. Ken Leistner sent me some photos to hang on the wall. Oh, and Mech6 sent me some sweet stuff...
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Atty, the gym looks great.....I've seen bits and pieces of it in pics around here, but I don't think I've ever seen the whole thing before.

The Peloton comment caught my attention too.....one of my coworkers loves hers. How do you like it? Do you find that you actually use it? I've occasionally thought about getting a used spin bike, and then using the Peloton app. Would I be missing anything important if I went that route?

You lose the actual interaction with the trainer and the ability to "compete" with the others in the class.

Thanks! On spread, as usual! Sounds like I need to consider just a spin bike and not really worry about the apps unless my wife would be interested in riding, in which case I could see the actual Peloton making sense. She would be much more into the "social" aspect of the whole setup than I am.

We have two spin bikes with bicycle computers that track speed and cadence and a road bike in a Kinetic "Road Machine" stationary trainer with Inride sensor and Wahoo speed and cadence sensors,.

Depending on your spin bike program, app, or video, the cheapo bike computer might be sufficient. A cheap Sunny spin bike from CL for $100, a $20 computer that tracks cadence, and a mount for a smart phone should be all you need to get started.

If you find that you really enjoy it and are using it frequently, then reevaluate your budget and see where and how you can improve the experience.

I like the Peloton. The bike is expensive, but not on the upper end of similar spin cycles. It's the monthly fee that kills you, although having meditation, Yoga, and strength training adds value. I find the spin classes very motivating. I really like them, whether live or on demand. For strength training, I'll go with male trainers, but for anything else, I will only go with female trainers, especially on the cycle. Visual appeal is a factor, no doubt, but they are much, much more inspiring and motivating.

If you get one, wait for the holiday sale. The shoes are okay, but you may want to buy your own from a brick and mortar store to get the right size. The earphones suck and the heart rate monitor is practically useless. Put money into a better heart rate monitor and high quality ear buds or headphones. Get the extended warranty too.

If your gym has a large screen tv, you can mirror or cast your Peloton feed. It's worth doing. If your TV is not set up or compatible, get an Amazon Firestick.

Off shoot topic..... anyone have good wifi experience? I've got a house (main router) and barn (wifi access point) that are a separated by a bit of distance (no obstructions). Wifi in the barn is only generally picking up 1-2mb/s speeds which freezes my Firestick Live TV feeds. I'm currently using some Unifi/Ubiquiti products with mixed results..... slow barn coverage and one part of the house drops signal from time to time. Some are Unifi AC some are Mesh units, I've added a directional antenna to one of the Mesh units but haven't permanently mounted it yet. Let's estimate 250 feet between the house and barn with access to windows in both buildings.

I've got some ethernet over power line devices still at the old house, but I'm not sure if they can reach as far as 250 feet or if the house and barn are connected with electric or if they both just meet at the electric co box in the yard. Just looking to see if anyone has any recommendations to get stronger wifi away from the main source.

i believe you can make a directional wifi antenna quite easily and cheaply since you have line of sight

If you have the pocket, run some conduit from the house to the barn. There are a bunch of different devices you can play with to broadcast wifi at a greater range, but my guess is you'll be disappointed in all the above.. If you want it done right, run an ethernet cable and connect an AP inside the barn.

You can rent a trencher and have the trench dug in no time...or you can do it yourself if you're an animal.

Seen the commercials, seems like a popular option for cardio these days. I'm about to fire up the old P90X plyometrics DVD myself, as I try to get back into my routine and ditch the spare tire I've worked up this winter. Can't beat that DVD (and free), if you can survive the full 45-50 minutes it's something to be proud of!

    Unitard of course

Thankfully I kept the ripped versions when I sold the original disc's, P90X is still the program that started it all for me. Hopefully it will help me get back into decent shape. Haven't peaked or been happy with my lifting in a couple years now
