I'm cleaning out my garage of the last of the gear flipping era stuff. I need to buy some pins, including locking pins for a bench press bench. I also would like to replace 1" set screw collars on a Rogue GHD. For four pins and four collars, I'd spend $100 at Full Circle Padding. Way too high. Any better priced parts out there?
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

You mean unistrut or telestrut (i don't know the difference)? It's basically what all the non-drop-in racks look like anyway...should work.

it did work well sort of I need to space it out from the wall with 2x4 instead of 1x4 because my 3x3 monsterlite accessories don't swing in perfectly but I got the posts free and paid $7 for lag bolts. I just enlarged every 3rd hole with a step bit in 2x2 steel.

    Congrats.

With a great-grandchild at only 65, you're very likely to see another generation.

Wonder what percentage of people live to see a great-great-grandchild?

Very nice, 7 weeks ago my youngest daughter got married, then 2weeks later my eldest informed me I was going to become a Grandfather for the first time.

2019 is turning out to be an momentous and expensive year.

Thanks fellas. I'm thrilled to have made it this far and if I can keep a clear mind I'd like to think, without anybody rushing, that I might see a great-great grandchild.

My daughter was at first not happy about it, doesn't like to think about her age. Of course she got past all that and is now the doting grandmother.

The bid will go much higher towards the end. Some bottom feeding muppet will purchase them to flip for a $100 profit all in. Thats some serious cash when you're picking half smoked cigs off the ground to smoke.

Also, the few regulars that still post here will probably flame you for posting about auction sites. They're still under the impression that no one has the internet and no one knows about these sites where you can purchase equipment. They're still using the classified section in their local newspaper to find deals.

Seriously though, look who posts anymore. Most of the regulars are ghosts. I still question why I even bother trying to talk sense into members. A colossal waste of time...which is the reason I rarely post. Same old crap, different day on here. Nothing worth seeing anymore.

Alright crew, not a huge fan of wading through the board for programming so I'm looking for some suggestions. Been off lately (took a nail deep into my foot while removing my father in laws kitchen floor, coaching two baseball teams then a twisted ankle on the same nail foot.

To kick things back into proper gear I'm thinking of a new routine. Prefer powerlifting routines but wondering if there is anything that is a good hybrid powerlifting/bodybuilding routine.

I have no plans to compete in anything and prefer the powerlifting side of things just for my own enjoyment but would like to try a new routine to get a fresh start after a couple bad weeks

After a few years of 531 I’m currently on week 9 of Brian alsruhe’s 4 horseman program. It’s pretty different but it’s really kickin* my ass and my conditioning gains are going through the roof. Probably going to run it again after the current cycle

Yep, anything from Brian Alsruhe is great, though you Really need to be mentally prepared... The conditioning aspect is no joke. You will get PLENTY fit. I know SK is a big fan of Brian's "giant sets."

I like Barbell Medicine's stuff, but you generally have to pay to get their templates (they have one for hypertrophy).. they also are heavy into RPE, which not everybody is into..

Google "Montana Method" for a nice two week % based powerlifting template (4 days per week) from a really smart dude named Hanley over on Exodus-Strength.. Lots of guys have had success with it in the past year or so since it was created. Just do some biceps curls after and you'll be fine.

SK suggested some of his stuff a year or so back to me I tried to do it but in my restricted gym space getting the giant sets in proved to be a real challenge. I may have to revisit it now I have a bit more space. I always slide back into 5/3/1 though and am working at or near my tested maxes so I should have some decent strength gains one of these days I decide to get froggy and test something new and special.

just looking out for you here but with the history of hurting your feet maybe you shouldn't kick off anything and just start gradually? All joking aside I'm curious what you start and how it works out for you.

Not sure how widely regarded he is on the boards, but Steve Shaw structures and does powerbuilding routine assessments too and works with the available equipment you have in your home gym (example accessory equipment limitations).

Most of his content is free and frequently talked about on his channel Massive Iron on Youtube, but I also landed up getting the Massive Iron e-book and later on paid for a workout routine assessment from him because of some of my workout equipment limitations in my home gym, goals and wanting to try something new and less stale than my old routine.

The new routine I got a few months back from him was pretty solid and I can PM the assessment I got if anyone is interested (although different people and goals might vary according to their answers to his questions during the assessment if anyone goes that route themselves), either way just throwing in another suggestion.

I haven't been doing those giant sets. I've restructured and I'm actually restructuring against to get in more hypertrophy work.
It's great for conditioning, I will say that.

I don't watch wrestling anymore since I was younger, but just came across this random video of Matt Hardy's custom home gym which can be briefly seen towards the end of the video, although I'm sure the regulars with their home gyms make his home gym look like a joke lol...

I just finished watching it. I enjoyed it, though it would have been nice to know how the season 3 cliffhanger was resolved. That said, so much time has passed (mostly for the actors), that it made sense to do it the way they did.

I also watched "Chernobyl" recently. I enjoyed that one too.

Gents (and lady) ....hope you all are doing well. I dropped off the lifting map for a few years, moving around with the family and such. Thankfully I kept most of my equipment, though downgraded my rack to Titan. Settled out west in North Cali, and have put together a small garage gym. Just wanted to drop a note of thanks to everybody on this board for their knowledge and encouragement to buy quality equipment. I'm happy to say that the equipment that survived the moves is doing very well, and I'm glad to have it. Just starting to get back into lifting now and in the process of rebuilding.

There are a couple of pieces that I have on my list. The next item I'm going to buy will likely be the XPO trainer. Figure I can use it and have my sons use it too, since it's autoregulating. And I'm missing a set of dumbbells, so will be on the lookout for some ironmasters ( I know they just had a sale but I wasn't ready to pull the trigger).

Take care folks, and stay strong!

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?
