What impact is that?
Do you mean in a greater sense, like, if the local team is good, people will travel to see games and spend money while they are there? Not that that really applies directly in this case since it's the last home game of the year for anybody regardless. So people should care to a great degree how good all of their professional teams are so that more people will come to the city and spend money? And get money from sales of merch and get money pumped in from theft err taxes to construct mega stadiums and the like?

Bars took a hit (this is New Orleans, so this is actually a large part of the economy. We take our drinking seriously, lol). I can't speak for other places in the country, but we are professional celebrators. People would be going out to drink for the next 2 weeks. If you think this means bar owners, it effected the staff as they were going to get more hours at higher pay to deal with larger crowds.
We also love to eat, so grocery store sales will be down (meat, beer, chips, salsa). Local pastry shops selling saints themed king cakes, cup cakes, etc will take a hit. Local owners of fast food will take a hit, specifically pizza & fried chicken. Not that I care about the owners of franchises, but people working there will get more hours to deal with the influx of orders. The added income is welcome at the minimum wage level. The list goes on and on.
It all adds up.
Down here, when the Saints do poorly, there is an economic hit. It's not a recession, but it takes money out of people's pockets in the service industry as people are unhappy & not willing to spend money (IE party).
I can't speak for other places, but New Orleans thrives on this sort of thing. The economic boom we got for small business from winning the superbowl helped significantly.Crews: Ivanko Barbell Crew #52, York Barbell Club #95, Equipment Crew #59

For some people it's also great time with kids/family rooting for your team. I love to play sports but don't watch a ton however the times I've had watching my University in Football and Basketball with my kids (whether on TV or at the game or at a tailgate) are some amazing memories that we have.
For people like my kids and me it goes beyond the game.{5'7" and under #1}

You speak of lost revenue in new orleans...peanuts compared to what happened over the past month with a people not getting paid. Whats the economic impact of that? How many billions?
Again, its a game. Unless you work for the NFL...get over it. Drew breese isnt coming to your home to pat you on the back.

So a lot of locals will be saving money they would otherwise waste on alcohol and crappy unhealthy excessive food like chips and salsa and fried chicken?
Two sides to that coin.
I wonder how many drunk driving deaths will not happen there as a result...?
Isn't it kind of hard to complain about the local team not generating enough interest and entertainment when they had a winning season that included two home playoff games? That's a way above average year, eh?

FFS just stop man.
People in the US have been starving and in poverty long before this shut down and you're posting on a forum about workout equipment in a thread that's designated for misc chatter. you're just trolling and i'm done with it.

Both of these are irrelevant conclusion fallacies or a red herring. Neither "argument" has anything to do with the actual topic at hand and is distracting from the point. Learn to refute an argument.

My buddy runs an Eagles tailgate group for home games but they also pick one or two road games to travel to each year. he does a complete package - airfare, hotel, the tailgate, and usually they have some kind of after party at bar. He's been doing this for years.
So the Eagles played the Saints the first year they were home after Katrina - apparently the Saints were having trouble selling tickets back then and they kept trying to get him to buy season tix instead of just the single game and he had around 200-300 people coming. Apparently they made him a really great offer and with the Saints having just signed Drew Brees and showing potential to be good, he finally bit - had to take a load out to pay for that many tickets.
But sure enough, they got good. hottest ticket in the NFL and he owns a couple hundred season tickets. I think he said at one point he could sell a single ticket for what he paid for the season.
It made him a millionaire - quit his job, runs his tailgate full time with two full time employees.
The tailgate is so big the NFL knows who he is - the Eagles invited him last year to come hold the Lombardi.
Expanded to running bikini calendar (which I still think is just an excuse for him to throw huge parties for his friends). Spends quite a bit of time down in the tropics fishing - in fact he also runs a charter off Jersey with local strippers (local Philly, Jersey strippers are horrible) - those are always a hit. You know they all get paid at the end right? Even those not working - it's like a vacation but you have to wait till it's over to get paid.
And listen - I hate NFL as an organization, I think if there is an evil corporation in the US, it's the NFL (and it has nothing to do with players kneeling during the anthem) but c'mon.
It's like why do we chant USA at the Olympics? the athletes don't care about us - but it gives you a sense of pride in your community - nationally at the Olys and locally with pro sports.Boomer Rep Crew #1

I get what you're saying, but I don't see how it's relevant.
As well, people here live to eat. Trust me, I would know, lol. We have almost 1300 restaurants in a city of 400,000 people. Almost all serve alcohol. People will just eat more and drink more. It's not like people here are the pinnacle of fitness, at all, lol.
https://www.thekitchn.com/the-drive-...adition-241670
We have 5 of these bad boys here, so if you want to drink and drive, we make it as easy as humanly possible. I'm not saying that's a good thing, lol.
Also, it just means there will be more drunk driving among New England & Rams fans. It transfers. Arguably, there's more fans for those teams, so it's just shifting where drunk driving occurs, right?
That also still has nothing to do with economic implications.
I'm done with the discussion, lol. Have a good one.Crews: Ivanko Barbell Crew #52, York Barbell Club #95, Equipment Crew #59

So does all of the revenue you talked about from buying chips and salsa and alcohol and fried chicken. It all transfers. Arguably, with more fans for those big market teams, there will be more overall economic 'gain' from the fans' expenditures, eh? Just, shifting it. So why make such a hyooge deal about the economic etc ramifications when it's all a wash or if anything better since they are bigger fan bases?
People who don't work in restaurants in these 2-4 cities in question DGAF if people go to restaurants more in NO or if they go to restaurants more in Boston. We really, really don't lol

So I finally decided to bolt down my 30" 4-post Rogue Monster rack after using it ~2 years free-standing (with weights on the pegs, I'm not a barbarian). HOLY SMOKES I forgot how wonderful it is to have a rack that doesn't flinch. I didn't take any completed shots yet, but here's an in-progress shot before the drilling. This job is so easy with the correct tools. I used a "Bosch Bulldog Xtreme Rotary Hammer Drill" and it ate through concrete like it was butter. Good times.

When your rack doesn't move, you can be so much more aggressive with the weights. It's a blast!

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

They are a smart crew.
I have the template bundle and the knee rehab program...the latter helped me a lot as I was getting ready for the surgery I had a couple weeks ago.
Looking forward to working w/Derek once I mend up a bit more.
The rift between them and SS/SSOC is pretty interesting, at least from an outsider’s perspective and as someone that respects all three groups.
It seems like relationships in the coaching world tend to go south, quickly and frequently.Last edited by JohnCuster; 01-23-2019 at 06:32 PM.
No more "crews" or brand tribalism, unless Mech wants to make me a 1in hole, 2in on center, Open Top Rack w/stainless posts.

I hear ya. They're just horse stall mats, so it wasn't TOO painful. If this was really nice rolled flooring, no way. Ha. And I haven't moved the rack from that location in about a year so I was pretty set on its final resting place. My wife still thinks I'm crazy for cutting the mats, but that's just par for the course I suppose.
