I've been using my EliteFTS SSB once or twice a week for the past 3 years. The padding is still in almost new shape. It does not shift during use. I am surprised that there is little sign of it flattening where it rests on my shoulders. But then, I am not using anywhere near the weight that they do at West Side Gym.
I would contact EliteFTS about it.

My goal is to have so much equipment that I don't have room to workout. I am almost there. :)

I don't yet know the answer to this question.
I will say that switching to a ketogenic diet from something resembling the standard American diet has been quite a change. There is a lot of stuff that I used to eat which I'd still like to eat, but (for the time being anyway) do not.
Fortunately, I have my wife on board. Mostly. She's hasn't gone full keto, but she's consuming fewer grams of carbs than she used to. She's making keto meals for me and is eating them along with me. Without her support, it'd be really hard. She's lost some weight too, which she's happy about.
I don't yet know how sustainable it will be for the two of us. But I'm achieving some results that I'm happy about, so that'll keep me going down this track for a while.
I would get LDL levels ( Bad cholesterol) and over all cholesterol levels checked , which (over all cholesterol) is believed to be directly proportional to high blood glucose levels or if you bring the over cholesterol down (LDL and Triglycerides down and HDL up) then blood glucose level should be down as well.
Looks like you are in the same predicament as i was few years ago (upper 30's) i..e loose weight and reduce the insulin resistance in the body.
And, as I've alluded to in a past post, I've also been flirting with blood glucose numbers which would indicate that I'm pre-diabetic.
I've managed to mostly keep things in check with exercise. Yet, despite either lifting or doing endurance related activities since my early 20s, after about age 30, my weight has steadily gone up. It's only gone up by perhaps a couple of pounds per year, but after about 25 years, that amounts to 50 pounds.
So, I'm down by 20; I still have 30 to go...Last edited by KBKB; 12-12-2017 at 09:55 PM.

I've been consuming 1 to 1.5 teaspoons of true (Ceylon) cinnamon the past few months just to keep my blood sugar down somewhat. I won't really know how successful it is until I go back for blood work in January, I can report back if you really care to know. My blood sugar in October was 104, doctor sent me back a few days later to have A1C checked, it was 4.9.
I put the cinnamon in my coffee (quarter tsp each cup, usually have 3 cups) and in my oatmeal (half tsp). There are cinnamon supplements, but my thinking is that if consuming the actual spice is effective (as opposed to something like turmeric), that seems preferable to a pill.
I've also reduced my carb intake somewhat, although I can't call it "low carb", much less keto or paleo or whatever. I have oatmeal with blueberries and hemp seed every AM, an apple or pear after dinner each day. I'll occasionally have a sandwich for lunch, but usually I have meat/vegetable for both lunch and dinner, and rarely eat potatoes or rice anymore. I've dropped from 183 to around 173 lbs. It has been almost entirely fat, based on how much weight I have been able to keep lifting. I am just now struggling to maintain my big lifts.
I'm actually less concerned about my blood sugar than I am about my LDL levels, my doctor threatened to put me on a statin.[]---[] Ivanko Barbell Crew #29 []---[]

KBKB,
If you say you are pre diabetic to your PCP then he/she might put on metformin.
I don't have blood pressure issues.
As per cholesterol, over all high cholesterol could be that HDL is high . For ex: HDL = 70 , LDL = 110 and Tri's are 140 , then over all cholesterol is 187 which seems high.
But for that person this could be perfectly normal
If you are active and still gaining weight ( unwanted) , then i guess something needs to change either you are not active enough or little bit of calorie deficit diet or combination of both.
Rod,
IIRC, 4.4 to 4.8 is "PERFECT" range but given the age etc..i would kill for 4.9.
My doc recommended liptor and I said no. After a year he agreed, no need to be on liptor
He is used to me arguing with him. But i am lucky enough to get lot of 2nd, 3rd and 4th professional opinions for free[M]===[6]▪ Mech6 Crew #35 ▪[M]===[6]

You are right, 4.9 is a good number for A1C. My doctor was initially concerned about the first round of blood work which showed 104.
I'm more concerned about keeping my LDL's lower. HDL and triglycerides are both in a good place, I just have high LDL.[]---[] Ivanko Barbell Crew #29 []---[]

[QUOTE=keyboardworkout;1537516091]Do not equate the trap bar deadlift to pulling on heavy pants, there might be a mod who asked Santa for one.[/QUOTE
Asked for what? A trap bar, heavy pants, or being pulled on?
Glad you're back. You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

A while back I know there was some knife talk here, saw Woot had a massive selection today and thought I would pass it along. I would like to get a nice foldable, any of these SOG knives look good to you more knowledgeable guys?

The SOG Visionary I or II (depending on size want/need) looks very nice. I'm not sure why the normal price is so high ($115+), but $50-60 looks very reasonable. I have a SOG Flash II (w/ Tanto blade) that is similar and it has that same lock mechanism and it's very solid. They can be a tad bit bulky for EDC, but they are Very well made.
If you really want to impress your buddies, get that SOG A01-P Arcitech Jigged Bone Knife. She's a beauty!Equipment Crew #68, Ivanko Crew #47, Rogue Barbell Club #7, Mech6 Crew #30

Buy a Benchmade. Buy once, cry once. Even though they are not expensive in the knife world. They are awesome knives and very sharp. USA made. Plus they offer LifeSharp. You can also send it in years later for a different style blade for a small fee. I love my Benchmades.

Benchmade is okay. Only one of theirs I have is a boot knife. More of a dirk or dagger actually. I prefer Emerson and Strider knives. Higher end.

A few photos from Tuesday's hike in the Seven Springs area...
It ended up being fifteen miles long and took me about nine hours to finish; I did this one by myself.

It was in the mid-thirties in the morning when I started, but warmed up into the low sixties later in the day. Having cooler temps made it a good day to do a hike like that. I brought 6 liters (two 3L Camelbak reservoirs) with me and drank all of one and perhaps a third of the second - so about 4 liters total. Had it been warmer, even that amount of water would not have been enough. (Back in May, I did a ten mile hike in which I drank all of the 6 liters I brought with me and hiked the last mile and a half or so without water.)
But, yeah, I was prepared. I had warmer clothing in case I had to hike into the night. I also had a headlamp along with two sets of spare batteries. I even brought the Garmin inReach in case I really got into trouble.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35
