People here walk/run in the early morning, dusk or even at night because it's not brutally hot then. I'm used to seeing a good number of people do that. That's actually not strange at all in warm weather States.
People don't walk around much up there or something? lolCrews: Ivanko Barbell Crew #52, York Barbell Club #95, Equipment Crew #59

I finally saw a bear in the wild a couple of months ago at the Outer Banks. There is Gator River National Wildlife Refuge just over on the mainland from where we stayed, it has one of the biggest concentrations of black bears in teh country. My wife and I went at dawn and saw 3 of them.

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I just saw an article about plague carrying fleas in AZ...
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...of-the-plague/
The article mentions Navajo and Coconino counties. I and several others in the crew (or who participate in the crew thread) live in Maricopa county.
I had investigated the possibility of our cats getting fleas several years ago. My understanding was that it's rare due to the low humidity here. Apparently, fleas need somewhat humid conditions for the eggs/larvae to survive.
I guess those northern AZ counties are significantly more humid than central (and probably southern) AZ.
Anyway, those of you who live in AZ, but perhaps bring your dogs (or other pets) up north to escape the summer heat might want to be aware of this.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

We're there any other equipment brethren in the path of totality for the solar eclipse today. We had 1m21s of totality. I honestly wasn't that crazy about it beforehand but during the process it was quite exciting. It started to get dark and the temperature fell about 10 degrees during the eclipse.
Unfortunatley I suck at taking photos and don't have the proper equipment to photograph an eclipse.[II]---[II] Equipment Crew #49 [II]---[II]

eclipse is pretty neat. i didn't get nearly as excited as some people i know, but i had some solar shades and took a look at it. i'd be lying if i said it wasn't a little exciting.

We got 98.57% obscuration, was pretty weird/neat. Totality was only an ~85 minute drive in normal traffic but man I didn't want to find out how traffic would have been today with two small kids.
So, moving equipment between houses. What should my game plan be here? It will likely be a month or maybe two to the actual move no way to know yet, but Rogue RML-490, three 7' olympic bars, rackable curl bar, trap bar, hundreds of pounds in bumpers including comp style, hundreds of pounds in iron plates...we're paying movers and they will probably have to be the ones moving most of this. What are the best options for protecting the bars and bumpers from moving/movers? I likely won't be able to shuttle stuff back and forth on my own or anything.

Just a partial eclipse for those of us in AZ. I checked it out when it was supposedly at its maximum. My wife had constructed a pinhole viewer - with it, we were able to see that it was partially obscured. It didn't really get that dark though.

My 4 year old daughter was inside and I told her nothing (no glasses, no temptation to look at it, no totality) and she started telling me the sun was going down. It was weird, the light level was as if the sun was just setting or had just set, but it was coming from straight up, and it felt so much less hot than it had earlier in the day.

I've just noticed that keyboardworkout has been banned.
I hope it's not permanent. I've learned quite a lot about kettlebell training from him. More recently, he told me (us) about doing timed brachial hangs for fixing shoulder problems. (Basically, you hang with your shoulders relaxed from a pull up bar with your hands gripping the bar facing outwards as if you were about to do a pull up.)▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

Man ******** just sucks lately. Non stop annoying posts about racists, Confederates, transgenders, SJW drama queens, and Trump defenders. Although I did get a chuckle out of the Trump eclipse jokes. Need to start listening to NPR again.
KBWO got banned for a week.Last edited by RemainDieHard; 08-21-2017 at 07:57 PM.

how much will movers charge to haul it? if you have some friends that you can pay with beer or drugs or sexual favors, i think a good option would be to rent a uhaul and a storage unit and spend a couple days hauling **** (one day for moving it there, another when it's ready to go into the new house).
if not, you might consider PODS. i think it's pretty expensive, but having it delivered would be very convenient if it's going to be you doing all the moving.Domicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

It will probably be me doing all of the moving. Haven't heard back from the one moving company we hit for a quote, but then without knowing the exact dates and if it's a straight shot without wait time between leaving this house and moving into the next one I can see a quote or even estimate being difficult.
I think I might just plan to get a storage unit and start putting the boxes we already have there, and then the rack and other stuff...just do commercial gym for a little bit scheduling to lift will be harder and all of the annoyances etc but well A/C in GA in August eh?
I may be able to move the stuff in my huge SUV without a u-haul there are a couple storage places quite close

When we moved a couple years ago, I moved the entire gym by myself. I took the rack apart, but the rest of the pieces (lat machine, preacher curl, ghd, leg ext/curl, vkr, benches) were moved fully assembled. Took 4 trips, iirc, with the vast majority of it done in one night...but we only moved across town.
You can probably do it in a couple trips if you're just moving plates, a rack, bench, and a handful of bars. It'll suck, but I think you could do it in an evening with a rented or borrowed pickup...depending on distance from one house to another."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I drove a half-hour south to get about 2'12" of totality. A cloud moved in just after totality ended. The whole event was amazing. Temperature dropped about 9 degrees and the dimmed sunlight was weird. I expected it to get darker than it did during totality. We could see stars in the sky, but there was still a lot of light at the ground.

I brought a bunch of equipment home in my Suburban, but it definitely took some finesse to get certain pieces in/out without destroying the interior. One of the hardest ones was a selectorized BodyMasters standing leg curl machine that I moved almost completely assembled.

Ive recently moved. Are you using a reputable national mover or something else? I didn't trust movers with my vintage York or Mech6 equipment due to time and effort it would take to get them replaced. But they moved everything else w/o damage. Rack, GHD, C2 rower, IM bench and dumbbells, couple barbells and SSB, fan, weight trees all without incident. Tell them not to tear up your ****, moving companies move fragile stuff all the time. No reason they can't move some weights/equipment.

That's quite a feat
IDK who we're using yet. Never even used movers before. First look is Two Men and a Truck, we seem them everywhere all the time and wife knows some who used them, Google shows they are pretty big/national (41 states).
I want the space cleared up as much as anything as I try to manage stuff tonight. So much easier to organize and pack and clean up to show well without so much **** all over the place

I drove down to Madisonville and was dead on the centerline for maximum totality. Placed a white beach towel on the ground and got a poor quality phone video of "shadow bands".
I stopped at Dynabody on the way down. Didn't find anything to add to the gym though.
Afterward, I drove south to Hiwassee Dam just because it is somewhere that I had never been. That was the perfect place to watch this eclipse. Some dude brought a two telescope set up and had the biggest, most professional looking camera that I had ever seen before. Beautiful scenery, no traffic, very close to the centerline, and bathrooms 50 feet away. That dude had it well thought out.Last edited by deadwoodgregg; 08-21-2017 at 09:12 PM.
