You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I'm under the impression that no one is capable of doing anything right these days.
I'm trying to work with my supplier to get the right materials for the house. The last order was a SNAFU.
I'm trying to get my tile/flooring quote down pat. It's totally FUBAR.
The current flooring quote is SNAFU, I'm only quoted for a 3rd of the flooring.
I am waiting for the rack quote, but assuming it'll be SNAFU.
My old Yukon Fitness Power rack was a better product than the monstrosity I'm trying to train with. You better believe that this is the last rack I'll ever buy.Crews: Ivanko Barbell Crew #52, York Barbell Club #95, Equipment Crew #59

been on both sides of this once when a plumber installed the wrong sized boiler in my basement and I had virtually no heat for a sub 0 week in Pennsylvania winter with a baby in the house while they ordered in the correct unit. I've also been the one to show up at a jobsite with the wrong furnishings(office lady mixed up orders). I don't want to even think about doing an entire house.

I've been contemplating selling my rack and matching bench for a couple years now.
As much as I love the design, it (along with the matching bench) is way heavier than I really need. My wife has a hard time moving the bench in and out of the rack, and I rarely use the telescoping and incline functions. We could actually get by just fine with an Ethos rack and quality flat bench. It would also fit in well with the black/red theme I have going down there."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Honestly, if I hadn't moved in 2012, I probably would have gotten mech to make me some uhmw j-cups, a few other things & called it a day. That 3x3 rack I had did everything I needed. For $1339, it's a pretty damn good rack. Beats the living hell out of Rogue's 2" spacing b/c it has 1.5" throughout the bench area.
I'd LOVE to add a half rack. I almost went with a half rack over a 6 post. There were a few training issues I ran into that actually required a 6 post.
The ineptitude is just impeccable. If they can screw up, they will and they will do it in a ball of glorious flames & failure. I'm surprised most structures still stands based on the "standards" of workers these days.
I'm glad it's not just me, but it sucks that others have to suffer through the same BS.
I've been fortunate to have the time to babysit these guys.
My plumber is actually good. My house is wired like an commercial building, so all breakers are 20A, all outlets are on a separate breaker form lights (so lights can't trip a breaker when you're pulling max load). Exterior was made from 2x6s instead of 2x4s (significantly stronger), web joists instead of standard joists (still stronger, I can run wire, even now with the drywall up). A lot of the money put into the house was improving the structure. Even with all that, the gables were not reinforced at all. Yours truly had to go up there, reinforce the bracing during a hurricane, then the gable walls were additionally reinforced with closed cell foam to ensure nothing shifts.
If I told you guys all of the stories, I'd have a book written.
I do recall watching the guys digging out the foundation for post tension pulling knives on each other. That was a day in the life...Crews: Ivanko Barbell Crew #52, York Barbell Club #95, Equipment Crew #59

This is groundbreaking...really.
Every once and a while, you have the opportunity to be a part of something pretty special and unique.
For the last 17 years, its driven me crazy that there is a lack of good swim training facilities in Colorado Springs (Olympic City, USA) for teams, fitness, water polo, etc. Initially, it was because my wife and I had a hard time with access for ourselves 2-3x per week. Then in the last 5-6 years our kids started getting into competitive swimming. Seeing your kids enjoy the sport, but in conditions and facilities worse than what I experienced from the mid-70s to early 90s (which were far from optimal) gets you thinking about what's possible.
When we switched our kids to a new local team in town a couple of years ago, I started talking with the head coach about this. No surprise, he had similar concerns and thoughts but he really wanted to do something about it (coach-owned team and growth is limited by facility availability). This led to the coach pulling together a group of like-minded individuals with relevant industry experience and ties or backgrounds in competitive swimming.
Net-net: after 2 years of research, business planning, corporate development, city approvals, re-zoning, iterations on the design, countless iterations & meetings with banks, the SBA and private investors, we officially broke ground on a ~30,000 sq ft., PRIVATELY OWNED, world-class training facility.
Highlights include: a 25m by 25y Myrtha competitive pool for training (google it -- this is used for the biggest competitions), a separate warm-water lesson pool, viewing area, lobby, locker rooms, video room, meeting space, and offices on the first floor. On the 2nd floor is an on-site physical therapy office and facility (already leased), more locker rooms, a ~3500 sq ft STRENGTH and CONDITIONING area.
We held the official ground breaking ceremony last weekend (the actual dig started a few weeks before that). Here are a few pics:
And one from earlier this week just prior to the first pour:
When opened, this will be one of only a handful of team-controlled training facilities in the country. Most are simply outdoor concrete pools (cheap, easy). This one brings all the training elements under one roof (water, strength, video instruction, PT/medical, etc).
Amazing what you can accomplish with a group of motivated, like-minded people under good leadership. I'll provide occasional updates as the build goes up. I'm sure there is a keen interest among folks here on the strength room.[]---[] Equipment Crew #73 []---[]

Thanks Dom! It's been an interesting side project. Lots of people contributed in different ways to get it to this stage. Can't wait for it to take shape.
Re: kids. Yeah, it was a bit discouraging to see your kids in facilities worse than what I had 30+ years ago. Fortunately, enough like minded folks saw the same problem and were willing to do something about it. For the last year I've also been hearing about it from my wife as the pool they use during the school year is 40 mins away and not in the best part of town. This is much closer, easy to get to, and in much better part of town. So, lots of motivation to get it done.[]---[] Equipment Crew #73 []---[]

The flash floods were about 80 miles north of us.
Flash floods are very common this time of year during the monsoon season (July-August). We had .69" of rain in 20 minutes last night. Considering we only get 7"-9" of rain a year, that is considerable.
Doing anything in a narrow canyon during the monsoon season is just plain stupid. The ground is hard packed dirt and rocks and all that water has to go somewhere.
There's always a bunch of videos on the news of helicopter rescues of people stranded in washes in their cars this time of year.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #53 ▪█─────█▪
