Long rambling post ahead, you've been warned.
There are good, proven bases out there on forums (like SC forums) that you can steal. The advantage there is they generally won't have a fatal flaw that is easily used to defeat it, and it saves a lot of time. Disadvantage is that any base posted online has been defeated, probably multiple ways, and there are probably videos or step by steps posted online about how to do it. Perhaps anybody active enough to know where to find that information would figure out how to beat it anyway though...?
There are a lot of factors to consider in building a TH9 war base. Things the good bases have that, if you make your own, you should incorporate if you can. You MUST have useful double giant bombs. Surely you are aware about double giant bombs....two giant bombs next to each other between defenses (in such a way that hogs are almost surely going to path over both at once vs triggering them singly) somewhere within the base where it is difficult to pre-trigger them. At TH9 you should probably have two such sets of double bombs. They should not be close to one another or close to the edge of the base. They also should not be close to the archer queen.
Speaking of the AQ, she should be hard to get to...not be right next to a set of double bombs...and preferably not be right next to an air defense, or at least only by one and absolutely not semi-close to two air defenses.
Wizard towers placed where they do not cover air defenses is a plus.
Don't worry about putting your TH absolutely centralized or trying to stop a 2* attack. Getting 2* at TH9 is not terribly difficult and you must expect that almost any clan out there will be able to 2* any TH9 war base no matter what, preventing 3*...or at least making 3* very difficult requiring a skilled attacker with high troops and heroes...is your goal. The TH makes a great meat shield though it has more hit points than anything else on the map lol
A lot of people put their skeleton traps near the TH to distract troops/heroes when they get there, but that seems like a "prevent 2* mentality, and it's really all but impossible to prevent 2* at TH9...I think I like putting skeleton traps close to the AQ. Any attack that doesn't kill the AQ is at serious risk of not getting 3*, that's where I want a distraction that buys my defenses/heroes more time, if possible. I have not put all of my skeleton traps on top of each other either, even though 8+ skellies all coming out at once seems like quite the force, because they can be poisoned. When using a poison-proof clan castle the attacker may simply poison your skeletons, especially if they are using hogs.
Most people put their air mines one each by their air defenses, or if they think they know which air defenses an attacker will go at first, put two mines at each of those, or even 3-4 mines at one. But almost always the air mines go by the air defenses to try and hit lava hounds but not balloons. Air traps on the other hand are placed where they will hopefully hit a pack of balloons but NOT get soaked up by a lava hound going to/between air defenses.
Spring traps generally go between defenses for hogs, but with surgical hog deployment a log of springs can be bypassed if they are between perimeter defenses...
Storages should probably be in range of defenses. They have a lot of hit points (DE storage especially), it's kind of silly IMO to put them outside of defensive range and be totally free. IDK why so many people out there seem to do that.
You don't want the clan castle to be easy to lure, but there's no such thing as an unlurable clan castle and virtually any CC at TH9 can be lured by ~3 hogs, or a combination of ~3 hogs and balloons, so I wouldn't go crazy trying to make the CC lure hard at the expense of other factors. For example, teslas have the most DPS of anything (that can hit ground or air targets) at TH9, to me it seems wasteful to put a tesla unprotected by itself outside of the walls just to jack with the CC draw. They don't exactly have a lot of hit points.

Couple of months from max th10 defenses, heroes finally to 20/20, and finally learning to 2* th10's fairly consistently. The learning curve for attacking th10's is real, much moreso than the jump from any other TH level to another.

Of course, if I could go back in time I'd have waited til heroes were 20/20 before going to th10.
That said, if a person's strategy and execution against a decent th10 base sucks, heroes that are higher by 10-15 levels won't make much difference. Nail the strat/execution, and the difference in hero levels won't be overly noticeable if a person is just shooting for 2*.

I'm talking realistically achievable heroes through manual farming, not people gemming lvl 40's or abusing their little chinaman for months on end to achieve them.
Again, high level heroes provide a definite advantage, not denying that. But they're needed more for clearing th10's than for 2*'ing them, which is all most clans realistically need to do to win against their average level of competition.

Awwwwwyaaaaaaa
Glad we could come together to get this back up, missed you *******s.
Posting base to show dat dere progress. I'm not going to jump to TH10 until my heroes are at least 20/20. It will depend how many lavas I get done by then. I would like to finish the inner core and the upper and lower storage/wiz tower compartments with lava walls, if that makes sense. I may wait until my heroes are at 25/25 but I don't know.
My defenses have been maxed for a while now, lab is also maxed minus DE spells, don't really give a fuk about doing those. BK at 18 and AQ is upgrading to 18.
MFC's record is also 178-36-3 We're pretty close to hitting clan level 8, dat dere donation limit of 8. Not bad Jeff.
Fuuuu I thought I was making good progress at TH9. When are you going to jump?Misc Firearms Crew

lol ty, probably gonna stay th9 for a good while longer upping queen. I've been th9 since like last summer but was inactive due to school, then active this summer and about to go sorta inactive again. I'm not in any rush to up to th10 since thats like a whole new game of farming grind. Just going to do a few raids a day for DE, I use superqueen so I get about ~2.2k+ a raid.

Mirin first page. Strong start
Idk. I was 20/21 when I went to 10 and that was all natty. 30/30 would have been realistic in another 20ish weeks. And tbh I wish I had stayed th9 until have waited for that since th10 war/farming just isn't as fun as th9.Eat Right. Lift Heavy. Be a Fat Manlet.
