Thanks Everyone-
The surgery was this afternoon, waiting in the hospital now. We should get an update from the surgeon w/in the next hour.
My back felt like crap today, so I skipped the gym. Will try to go tomorrow or Saturday. You can't help the hopeless.

The surgery went well. We got a chance to see her afterwards. Her face was all swollen, but other than that, she looked pretty good.
She was kind of awake, but the pain meds caused her to nod in and out. We're going to call later and hopefully, she'll be able to talk to us.You can't help the hopeless.

They let my Mom out of ICU this morning and put her in a regular room. We're visiting her now. She was asleep when I got here, but they had given her anti-nausea medicine, which made her drowsy.
She's pretty awake now.
They're going to try and see if she can walk a little bit tomorrow.
I did some light speed work today. My back feels notably better than it did on Tuesday. Hopefully, I'll be able to train normally on Monday. I'll have to wait and see.You can't help the hopeless.

Positive updates are positive. Oh man, she is in the hospital for Mother's Day though. Gotta give her something extra awesome like pie and a couple male strippers in her hospital room, flowers are over-rated.

Not sure what I'm gonna get my Mom. She can't eat any sweets, and I'd normally make her a cake.
Still waiting to talk to her nutritionist, so I can know what to cook for her.
I visited her today. She looked better, but was sleepy as they woke her up for various things: taking her vitals, removing her chest tubes, etc.
I'll visit again tomorrow. You can't help the hopeless.

I hear you on that one. Going through the same stuff - my mom isn't able to stomach solid foods right now so I have no idea what we're doing. Hope she is well on the mend and you can make her something nice .

My mom looked even better yesterday and was walking a bit. If she can walk up a flight of stairs today, they'll probably let her come home.
I'm going up to see her later this morning.
Slightly bad news for me- I decided to drop out of the June 3rd meet. My back still isn't 100% and my Mom won't be able to go to it. My Dad will probably want to stay with Mom since my sister's going to be out of town, which leaves me with no handler.
I'm a bit bummed, but I'd rather do a later meet when I'm better and my whole family can come. There's regionals in August, which I might do, or I'll compete in November.
I did a light workout today, squat up to 255, bench up to 165, and deads up to 275. It's humbling to have to be this conservative, but I can only do my best under the current circumstances.
Edit: The meet director is a peach. He sent me a coupon, so I can use my registration fee at a later meet.Last edited by Partyrocking; 05-15-2017 at 05:55 AM.

Thanks everyone. I'll have to take my time, but I will make it back to the platform.
My Mom was able to walk and down the stairs today. If she's feeling well at the end of the day, she can come home. We still have to do some shopping for her. I went to the class w/ her nutritionist, so I know how to plan her diet. You can't help the hopeless.

Mom came home yesterday afternoon. She was pretty sleepy, so she fell asleep once we got her upstairs.
I made her dinner, steamed short ribs, sweet potatoes, and peppers. I'll be making all of her food from now on (I was just making her lunch/dinner before).
Today, she was able to walk down stairs and walk around with me once. She needs to walk 4 times a day, so we'll walk again before dinner and then again when she needs to go to bed.
The whole family is going on a healthier diet. Less junk food. More fruits/veggies and we ordered seafood from Fresh direct. Scallops for dinner tonightYou can't help the hopeless.

Glad to hear she's home, good sign that she's healing well.
It's so sweet of you to care for her, and prepare some good eats. Great to hear the whole family is getting in on eating healthier as well, long term weight loss, and healthy lifestyle changes are much easier when you have support. Especially when the support is in the same home, and making those changes together.PRs: 95lbs/126lbs/212lbs

Cheers everyone!
My Mom is pretty awesome. She's always doing stuff for me, so it's nice to be able to do something nice in return. She was walking a bit better today, and she was gabbing on the phone like normal, so she's on the mend, slowly but surely.
Tonight's dinner, seared scallops over a vegetable pilaf.
