I haven't been to a gym in years, but when I did free weights (i.e. dumbbells as I had no idea about barbell lifts then) I'd put myself in a corner of the gym and do my exercises there as I thought I'd be safe! There'd always be someone who would hang around or I'd feel like they were too much within my personal space.
See this diagram...well my personal space 'tolerance zone' is probably double the size of the outer circle!

Paused Bench
5x55, 3x75, 2x95, 1x115, 5x2x152.5
Still struggling with keeping my butt on the bench. I changed my leg position for the 1000th time and I think it helped. Will check bar path data later. It's improving ... I think.
Paused Incline Bench

Same as last week. Hoping I can crush 4x6 next week.

Mostly referring to certain squat spotters. I'd rather have safeties, or even just drop the weight, than have someone spooning me during squats. lol. Jay spots me when I'm working out at his place, he's my boyfriend, and even he can manage to be that close. It'd be so difficult to move like that, imo.

The only time people spot me during squats is at competitions and it's much appreciated. The first attempt is a bit awkward, but after that, you don't really notice them (unless you fail). It's like having a team of shadows move around you.
Yeah, Graeter's is sold in the Northeast, so you may see it in stores. I just couldn't find Cheese Crown in stores, so I had to order it. Worth it ... although I should probably save my money for more important things. You can't help the hopeless.

I think a foam roller would be more arch than I need, lol. Then again, I've only been able to bench once. I did have an arch, it just kinda happened itself when I slid into place, and squeezed my shoulders back.

This is a baller idea. My gym has different density foam rollers, so I think I'll start with the softest one next time and as I get better at arching, use denser rollers.

It's unpleasant, but it works. If the gym you go to has multiple densities, I'd start with the softest one first (usually white) and work your way up to the black.

Why yes tiny human, I did do my squats today. lol
I heard somewhere that your arch should be at least enough space to fit your hand under, which is about where mine ends up just setting up how it feels naturally. Is that right, or should it be more? I mean, I've seen powerlifters arch up really high, toes pointed at the ground, entire mountain going on. I just figured that was a powerlifting thing though, not a general benching thing.
Nice squatting, and yay for having a personal cheerleader.PRs: 95lbs/126lbs/212lbs

It depends. For shoulder health, your hand is probably enough as long as you can retract your shoulder blades. For a maximum bench, it still depends.
Some people arch as high as possible to cut the ROM as short as possible. The problem with this though is that it usually puts your feet in a not great position for leg drive.
For smaller, bendier lifters, the trade off is likely worth it, but for big girls like me with big legs, I'd rather get more leg drive.
I still need to work on my arch, but my problem is holding the position long enough vs. getting as high as humanly possible. The foam roller helps because I can't collapse my arch during the rep.You can't help the hopeless.

Ah. that's good. As long as I'm not fluffin' anything up, lol. I find my arch is naturally like that once I've set up, and retracted my shoulder blades, and the lift feels solid, but it never hurts to ask.

Speaking of dreams I had a rather random one last night. I had a dream that I was being trained by some 'expert' in squats although his face was not familiar to me (he was pretty hot though lol). But he told me I was squatting wrong and that the bar should be resting on the middle of my neck! So, I attempt to squat using this technique and nearly fall on my butt!
Yep, I'm so glad I can fail my bench at home as that is super embarrassing!- Fallen Angel -
