    Getting Lean

Anyone else notice how Col. Sanders looks identical to Kim Jung Un?

    Don’t call it a comeback.

In July of last year your pal Ol’ Uncle Gravy Veins started a previous log and turned his life around. Starting at 254 lbs and dropping around 78 lbs or so over the course of last year. But by the end of May of this year I needed a break from the constant dieting.

I have been recharging over the last couple of months and tried my best to eat at maintenance over the summer, and my weight has more or less fluctuated up and down between 177 - 187 lbs. I started a log briefly in the workout journals to track the fierce five program, but pulled my right shoulder pretty badly doing front squats with bad form.

The goal of this journal is to just shed fat and get as lean as possible, as in 10-12% body fat. I know it’s not sustainable, but what the hell. Even though I had lost a lot of weight in my previous log and looked totally different (in and out of clothes), I still had love handles and lower belly fat. This time I’m going to shred all of it.

I will do a starting weigh in tomorrow, but I ate like total trash yesterday and today so that I’d be good and full of water and glycogen at the start.

My goal is to lose 5 pounds a month or so while eating around 1,800 calories and lifting and doing some random cardio. Let's do this.
    7/09/14 - 250 lbs
    5/02/15 - 176.2 lbs
    7/31/15 - 187.8 lbs

    Day 1.

Well. I did my weigh-in this morning and came in at 187.8 lbs. I was sort of hoping to manipulate it higher by eating pizza and cheesecake yesterday, but whatever.

I didn’t have too much trouble getting back into diet mode this morning and ate 420 calories between breakfast and lunch, but then this happened when I got home from work:

Charcuterie and frou frou for dinner. I’m estimating closer to 2100 calories for the day. Not coming out of the gate too hot on Day 1 - slouching towards nirvana.
    7/09/14 - 250 lbs
    5/02/15 - 176.2 lbs

    Day 2.

It’s funny how you can manipulate your weight. I woke up on Day two weighing 184 lbs, or almost 4 pounds lighter than the day before.

I probably should’ve started this log on Monday. I ate relatively light throughout the day on Saturday, but my wife and I went on an impromptu date night and well..

    Day 3.

In keeping with the inauspicious start to this log, I was really hungover from the date night with my wife (we don't get out much) and ended up eating between 2400-2700 calories.

So I'm fairly certain that I've actually gained weight since starting this log. But I guess that's sort of the ebb and flow of these things. Feeling pretty determined this morning and am ready to get this log rolling.

I ate around 1,900 calories today and felt hungry and lethargic all day. Hooray for dieting!

    Day 5.

Taco Bell coming in hot with their Cap’n Crunch Delights. Some sort of fried pastry coated in Cap’n Crunch surrounding a sweet cream material (aka icing). I’m not sure if this is pure marketing genius or complete and utter evil. Someone eat these and report back ASAP. This is very important.

Had sort of a weird freaking day today. Ate around 2000 calories and am riding a bit of a wave of good karma. Still haven’t hit the gym or done anything remotely resembling working out/cardio since starting this log, but hey man I’m easing into it. *cracks a beer*

Listen to this and go cruise on a longboarding:

    7/09/14 - 250 lbs
    5/02/15 - 176.2 lbs
    7/31/15 - 187.8 lbs

Another quick update. Ate around 1,900 calories and did zero working out. I’m pretty much on track to do absolutely no lifting the first week of this log, and I’m curious to see how it’s affected weight loss (if any).

    Day 7.

Well, I ate reasonably during the day but then went to this chicken wing place with my family and ate an estimated 3200 calories.

To be honest, I had to take a break after injuring my shoulder and during that period lost my motivation for the gym. I've got that "I'll start tomorrow syndrome" at the moment. I will pull it together. Kind of a garbage diet log so far haha.

I did relatively little cardio in my last log but would like to incorporate it more so that I can start entering 5k and 10k races. There are a slew of them here year round.

Just have to keep repeating this to yourself.
    Everyday is a new day.

I myself have tried to get better with cardio. I realised while I can squat 80kg, I still can't run a 5k without dying.
I downloaded a few apps, the zombie 5k is my favourite lol.

No such thing as a garbage log. Ups and downs are going to happen, you will pull it together.

    Thanks doods. ^^^^^^^^

    Day 8.

Quick update from my phone. I ate a tick under 2,000 calories on day 8.

I am planning out my workouts for next week. I am planning on alternating between lifting and jogging every other day. I might have to mix this up somewhat due to the weather. In this part of Florida I think it has rained every day in the afternoon for the last two months. I'm ready for some dryer, colder weather!

I was thinking of posting a weigh-in every Friday. Although I normally hop on the scale every morning for the hell of it. With all the drinking and carrying on from the past week, I have had some crazy water weight swings (~6 lbs up and down) from eating too much salt and then being dehydrated. I will do another control weigh in tomorrow morning. I'm guessing that I am almost exactly the same weight as at the start of this log.

It just stopped raining here, so I might head out for an afternoon jog. Although it's not ideal weather conditions at 83 degrees F (28C) and with 78% humidity - yuck dood. #SwampDonkeys

    Day 9.

Ate around 2,000 calories today and decided in the early afternoon that I was going to brave the swamp-like weather and head out for a jog. I listened to nothing but Fetty Wap the entire jog, ‘ay. Goodness gracious that run sucked after not doing any exercising for three weeks+. I was slightly off Olympic/marathon pace with my 10:00/mile (ok, 10:34/mile).

I rode my scooter over to a local farmers market today and got all of this for $3. On another note, it’s apparent why hass avocados are more popular than “Florida avocados.”

I also went and played mini golf with the kids this afternoon. It really made me realize that I suck at golf. #ThePriceIsWrongBitch #YouLikeThatOldManYouWantAPieceOfMe #Oh,SheGotHitByACare,She'sDead #YouKnowWhatYou'reALousyKindergardenTeacher

Yeah man hass avocados taste way better than florida And don't sweat those cap'n crunch bites, not even that good. The regular cinnabon delights are 10x better. Keep it up man
