hahaha done.
Yeah dude it was ruthless. Like one of those youtube bloopers where you see some poor bastard's leg snap in half and cringe but can't look away. I was in shock, but I still remember seeing girls crying and my friends all covering their faces and freaking out. My knee cap was shifted about 3 inches out of position and was just kind of floating and my femur was dead straight, but from the knee down my leg was pointed at about a 150 degree angle outwards and my foot was almost completely internally rotated inward.
Basically something like this while sitting up flat on the ground but a bit more exaggerated. The swelling and bruising 3 days later was horrendous. What shocked me the most was just how quick muscle will atrophy when it can't contract or fire at all. Within a week I saw a very noticeable difference.
I was told at the emergency room my ACL was definitely gonzo, but after the MRI results showed up and it was 3 pages long I was just like "eh ****". My biggest regret was not getting the cadaver and using my own tissue (hamstring tendon on the inside of your leg if you curl your leg back and feel that big one that hangs down). Not only did it greatly increase recovery time and pain, but it's extremely prone to cramping and I will never have that hamstring hang on that leg.
I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I'd leave physical therapy every day for almost a year soaked through my clothes in sweat with tears coming out of my eyes mainly from the end of my sessions which consisted of me being put in a private room, lying face down on a bed with my head buried in pillow, and my PT bending my leg back towards my body to increase the range of motion. I swear there were times I thought everything was going to just give and I'd be screaming bloody murder.
I did a ton of pool work and I remember the first time I squatted was about 1.5 years post op and I started with the bar and just kept doing triples until I ended up going up to 250 pounds for like a set of 10. I needed that confidence boost so bad and was so surprised that I kept that much strength all things considered. I thrashed my legs twice a week after that and was on a mission to get them back. I took a 3-4 month break from leg training this past winter due to my sciatic nerve flaring up really bad and didn't have much of a growth season going into this cut. I honestly think they looked better a year ago, at least much fuller.
Few months after training legs again for the first time in over a year.
Then I went full offseason got up to 265, trained legs twice a week for almost a year and then cut.
loved the look in these two pics...full as f*ck
Then had a 3-4 month layoff and kind of recomped and grew a bit into my diet this year. I overdieted/overcardio'd my legs at times and will definitely try a different approach next time.
and you guys have seen the current pics....so that's that.Instagram - @dan_evan1

Dude (masthead, lol love calling you this), that PT sounds brutal but I also cannot say enough how impressed I am to just like squat or even do leg extensions or curls. I would just be too hesitant and scared to even do anything with my legs. holy crap.
Grainy hardcore religious slabs of thick dense muscle. So grainy that it hurts your eyes

So I have no idea how many people are still doing this, but I have been working out hard. To be honest not dieting as hard as I would be if I was getting ready for a show, but that is mainly because I am lifting heavier for the first time in years and want to maximize the size gained.
I am still managing to gain size and lose fat. I have been hovering around 190 pounds, but definitely getting leaner.
Now there is less than two weeks out, I feel like this is the time to kick it into overdrive, though I am really through it all trying to stay smart and lift heavy (for me) and practice perfect form on everything.
Another thing which I should add is that I am doing this transformation without eating any meat or dairy. My only animal based protein source is coming from eggs at this point. I really an passionate about fitness and health, but feel there need to be more people who can inspire others to work out and NOT eat meat. I am not sold on the idea that you need meat to be big and I will use my body as an example of the possibilities which will hopefully inspire others.
