I wear mine to the gym/work.shooting etc probably 4-5 days a week on a nato. and its fine, little hair lines on the side of the acse and a tiny knick in the edge of the crystal but for the most part its plenty durable. i like it better than the skx only because it doesnt sit as high off of my wrist.

Sounds like it's due for service. But to make sure, did you wind it or shake it to get it moving?

If im not mistaken COSC outlines standards set at -4/+6 for tolerance of a COSC certified movement. which obvi would be +18 after 3 days, or -12 after 3 days. sounds like yours was out of spec slightly at 20 sec/3 days but not by much.

Love that blue mako tbh, the shimmery blue dial on that watch is the best blue dial on any watch under 500 bucks imo.

Glycine is a decent brand right?

$230 for a ETA 2824 movement seems like a great deal to me. Am I mistaken?

Here's the watch I'm buying unless you guys talk me out of it.

Yeah, I was doing the calculations and was coming up with similar numbers. I mean if it's off by a minute every month that's not a big deal but I was just hoping such an expensive watch would be able to hold time to the second for at least a month.
And how would I wind it? It's a mechanical co-axial chronometer with just one crown to set the date/mins/hours, and the He escape valve that doesn't have any timekeeping purposes.

Even if a COSC certified watch was off by more than 2-3 sec a day I'd be upset. 4/6 is the standard, but if you are pushing the ends of that, you're getting shafted. New Rolex standard is 2/2 if I'm not mistaken.

Not a mechanical watch on the planet that will do that. If that's what you want, get a digital watch.

How are you storing it at night? Before you go to bed the next few nights try the following:

Set time second perfect, place the watch crown up on your bedside table or wherever, assess it in the morning.
Do the same again with crown down, do the same with it flat on back.

See which one loses/gains the least. If nothing helps then I would take it back to the AD and get it sent off to be regulated; it's out of COSC standards so will be free.

I got lucky, my Sub legit gains no more than 1 sec a month, must be regulated well but also I always have it crown side up on my bedside table, seems to keep time extremely well.

So it's +/- 12 seconds per year? I'm calling BS on that. Via watch U seek crew:

"With the exception of the Seiko SD which is electronically regulated, there is no one mechanical watch model which is consistently as accurate as any other. The best you can do is a COSC certification, which puts it within -4/+6s on average. Note this is not guaranteed, just on average. Obviously exceptions occur often, as many lesser movements can be more accurate than that. Bottom line, if you need accurate, get a quartz. If you get a mechanical, it will perform within its specified range, which is way less accurate than a high end quartz."

There's a debate whether the Seiko SD is indeed a mechanical at all.

The crown should unscrew and when its in the irst position, when it is just unscrewed but not pulled out at all you should be able to rotate it one way or the other (probably clockwise) and it will wind the movement. Im with you tho it should be closer within tolerances

Do the same again with crown down, do the same with it flat on back.

See which one loses/gains the least. If nothing helps then I would take it back to the AD and get it sent off to be regulated; it's out of COSC standards so will be free.

I got lucky, my Sub legit gains no more than 1 sec a month, must be regulated well but also I always have it crown side up on my bedside table, seems to keep time extremely well.
this, the position its being stored in has effect on the time keeping.

While I want a watch to tell time within its specs for sure, if my life depended on anything to an accuracy of a few minutes per month and or I had to place it a special way to get the most accuracy from it at night, I wouldn't wear a mechanical watch.

It's fine, I have no reason to lie about the accuracy of a wristwatch lol. I'm sure it gains some days and loses others, I can tell you i haven't set it in around 6months and it's between 5-6 seconds fast.

Also it's really not that difficult to place your watch a certain way before bed, although not ideal, id personally get it regulated

I get it man. as far as accuracy goes i think if i relied on everything down to the seond i would just wear a g shock with the satalite reset everyday so i know it would be dead on, but im similar to you in that if my watch is within a minute of accurte its livable for me.

I don't know about it being a lie, more likely how you measure it is my guess. I don't believe there's any mechanical watches you can wear on your wrist that are +/- 12 seconds per year or even close to that. That's even pushing it for a quartz watch. Just sayin' brah

Some take dat chit to the level of OCD. Any quality mechanical will be very close these days unless it's running well out of spec.

Got my blue Mako MkII and mounted a Strapcode 22mm "Razor." I'm really pleased with it. Should have got it it much sooner. It killed my interest in a blue-dial Bond Seamaster.

Here's the bracelet. It's also Amazon Prime.

These watches basically do a one dimensional random walk. It's entirely possible that someone sets his watch, wears it every day and one year later it is accurate to the second. Doesn't mean it will be as accurate the year after, or the month after, or even the week after. But it's possible.

Hey guys, I don't know if anyone who used to post here still does but I haven't posted in almost a year.

I'm trying to sell my Orbita 3 watch winder. It has a drawer with 4 spots for other watches and room for other stuff. They run like $2k new. Link here.

Dan Henry 1970s: a true compressor case diver with a Miyota for $250.

    https://danhenrywatch.com/products/1970

But why did it have to be 44mm case with 24mm lug spacing???

eRumors say that a smaller version will drop by summer.

jeep need maintnance or is that the latest hobby? Kaba still posts, as do a few guys who have posted on the last page busch, evade, reighning blood, bigrangs etc. There was a little shake up over dudes being accused of posting fake watches, one put up proof of his pieces, the other faded into oblivion. for the most part tho same posters tat ive been seeing for the last couple of years just slower moving, i assume guys have been married, moved intio positions at work with less free time etc.
