I love my SMP quartz as beater. It's been through a **** ton, always there when I need it and it can withstand almost every situation you can find yourself in (not so much the case for my vintages ehehehe). Mine is at least 10 years old now, never polished, and still looking good (imo). It's the watch I whip on when I don't have time to pick others, no need to set the time, just on and go. It's the watch I pick when it's ****ty weather, SMP don't give a fuk if it's sun or rain, it do what it 'posed to do. You can now still get them fairly cheap as well, especially if you don't care about B&P (it's a quartz, so value/collectability doesn't matter as much, besides the quartz hasn't been faked, so no need to worry about buying a fake either.
My smp has been through a lot, and it still looks fresh as ever https://instagram.com/kabaclyde/"Kabananga is believed to be the leader in penis-size to wealth ratio (ala crazy/hot scale) with 3 inches ahead of other prominent CEO's." ~ Time Magazine

Is that what a quartz SMP would cost, about 2300? I live near an omega store. I know they are way better quality and the seamaster is one I really want one day.
How well do they retain value?
I'm putting most spare money into safe investments. If the watch would depreciate too much, I may consider it.yolo

Seeing as I may be buying another watch (whether its from Yush or not), my GF and I now have a pretty substantial collection growing. I need a watchbox. In my mind im envisioning a mahogany one with glass window on the top and the small cushions in slots for each watch. Anyone have one or know where to get one of these? Ones i was seeing were like $600...

You paid $400?
Were you just lurking the chit out of watch recon?
Also do you guys recommend getting the papers and stuff? Or does that not really matter. I mean I'm really just looking for a SMP that is real, will run for a while (how much are repairs/battery replacements btw?), and will be a daily beater.yolo

wristwatch newb here. saw a deal in my email for an ingersoll watch for relatively cheap. how chit is that brand? watch looks nice imo, but i have a feeling you guys will rip it a new one. just looking for something nice, neutral, not showy, for a cheap starter since i accidentally left my old watch on a girl's nightstand a few months back, and she moved to chicago

Lol no, I bought it used 3 or 4 years ago, no box or papers. I had a deal with the guy for €400, but when I was about to leave to him, he called me, saying a lot of people inquired about box and papers, and since he didn't have any, he asked me if €350 was ok (which is/was about $400). So there I was, about to drive one hour for (back then) one of my grails for a really good price (they went for €600-800 all the time back then), and he asks me if I want it even cheaper. "Hell yeah!" and off I went. It's been with me ever since
I always buy below market value, some way below, including many of my prime pieces. It's a matter of patience and watching the right markets, although I think in the US, you'll usually have to pay more since many of the markets are bigger/more global and people are more price-aware. I bought mine from a one-watch man, who just bought a new one and had no use for his SMP anymore, with no real clue of its current value, he just knew what he paid back in the day."Kabananga is believed to be the leader in penis-size to wealth ratio (ala crazy/hot scale) with 3 inches ahead of other prominent CEO's." ~ Time Magazine
