Don't even know. Almost scared to go looking for it. Couldn't imagine the leader of my country starting a war on police, men and women who give up so much to serve their country. It spills over the border as well, but it's definitely not the same. Feel for all the boys in blue in the US.

Quick post. We should see anonymized vids of all citizen encounters with the police so we can all learn from the ones which go smoothly and understand the scope of the problematic ones. Somewhat serious.

Haha, that happened to me with a TV show I was watching on Prime. 2 episodes left in the season.

Winter shopping is like 1x every 5 years here lmao.

My tracking site just crashed again. It's got all kinds of piffle add stuff now. Mobile too. Went back to MFP, read new data sharing policy......

Same for another site. Can't a bro track macros without location and performance data getting shared with 3rd party vendors?

Remember those fat binding tablets? But if you ate too much fat you got the squirties. Yeah I skipped those.

I'll say what was nuts was Met-RX Thermicore back 15 years ago. IDK what it was bout it (seemed strong), as my caffiene tolerance has reached legendary prestige level and if I remember right it was not supposed to be dosed too strong on other ingredients. Did not stop me from getting hungry TBH.

Excuse me, my rainbow magic pill works just fine. I'm offended at your comments.

I like those dumb "happening" fitness routines. Dance your fat away. They're annoying as chit.

When people ask me about my fat loss, I always tell them, fix your diet and you won't need to exercise.

    Mmm waffles !!!

Had a good one the other day from a local coffee shop, the "mega" waffle, was like a 10" Belgian waffle topped with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate sauce, white chocolate sauce, warm nutella & finally a few kinder bueno bars !!!

Had that & a hazelnut latte, then went home & sat on my arse all day binge watching the entire 4th season of Game of Thrones, was a great day

Ah. that's better. I'm in bb.com black mode now. Any info on PC laptops would be appreciated. I'm thinking about switching things up again. I was strictly PC for years but that was years ago.

Hey, Kure! Have you been playing soccer?

Nitro, yeah, that was a random guy. As I panned from left to right he walked in front of me, right to left, and then he circled behind me and emerged on my right, I think. (I could be wrong.) I'm going to replicate that with family next time.

    ...

Nothing exciting to report diet and gym-wise. I'm cutting mochis out of my diet for a while. They had become a new obsession.

My parents are taking swimming lessons and my mom swam for the first time ever on Tuesday. Dad knows how to swim. He just wanted some formal training.

Re: Why obese people be obese'in

My 2 cents - It's not just a matter of willpower. Just like it's pretty useless (and insulting) to tell a clinically depressed person to "just get over it," or a person with learning disability to "try harder and focus." They have abnormalities in their brain that they are fighting against, and it is not as simple for their brain to function as if those differences didn't exist (quote and link to paper below reinforcing why I feel that's an adequate comparison).

That being said, I believe that just as the brain can adopt a dysfunctional state due to undesirable variables, that the reverse can be true when those variables are accounted for and improved upon. For instance, CBT for a depressed person, or coping mechanisms and specialized learning strategies for the learning disabled.

I feel like the reason why I am no longer fat is because of the support I had here, from my man, my friends on facebook, and constant immersion in fitness...it's my most read subject and I keep up to date with it through various means. That environment allowed me to stick with it long enough to override negative patterns I had developed when fat / becoming fat. **But I still battle with some of those old patterns, and still have to count calories every so often to keep myself on track**.

Tracking calories is one of my coping mechanisms to keep me accountable for what I eat. Obviously, that's not practical for everyone for various reasons...and they will need mechanisms that better serve their situation.

    Anyway, as for research ...

Negative associations between obesity, physical health, and life expectancy are common knowledge, but more recent studies have also shown that, on average, being overweight: (1) reduces attention, working memory, executive function, and inhibitory control among otherwise healthy participants, and (2) increases the risk of developing early onset dementia.

The current experiment employed advanced neuroimaging techniques and two different body composition measures to establish possible mechanisms for obesity-related cognitive, behavioral, and neural differences among healthy adults.

The neural systems that showed consistent associations with body composition (i.e., across multiple functional and structural neuroimaging modalities) offer a biologically plausible mechanism for reduced cognitive performance and self-control among overweight individuals. In particular, our results indicate that higher BMI and BFP are associated with increased functional connectivity, decreased regional gray and white matter volumes, and decreased white matter microstructure throughout regions and networks known to subserve cognitive, salience, and reward processing functions.

Therefore, interpreted in the context of previous research, these findings suggest that changes in body composition may be cyclically (causally) related to alterations in brain structure and function that could decrease self-control and promote further unhealthy behavior. http://journal.frontiersin.org/artic...016.00234/full

    TLDR:

They might not be able to help it because of structural differences in the brain that make it more difficult to resist excessive eating and other harmful behaviors.

I was just reading about this in an unrelated topic. But this is the main way out IMO. Wish I could remember where, I would link. Although I have a suspicion it was in a book.

You have to initially take action many times without the benefit of belief or understanding. Build some basic skills and not quit, at least for too long. Then the improvement begin to take hold. This develops some feedback you can do it and gives you more confidence. Changes to a belief in yourself and your new habits. Then refine and build on that foundation. Then as a changed person continue to pursue knowledge and refinements to your new outlook, abilities, and person.

I also agree that with the skills built that setbacks can be spotted and overcome much easier than they could in the past. Especially if you have a good support system and have the sense to use it. But we must be fearless. I think fearlessness is a big part of why some people escape the fat suit and keep it off. I mean look at all those steps you took to progress, every one of them required you too take risks, put yourself out there, and open yourself to failing, criticism, and looking at parts of your old self that probably did not make you feel good at the time.

It's a courageous thing you did.

I'm going to go post in the misc for about 20,000 posts to work off the WK feels. But it's the truth IMO.

    lol!

You have a really good point with everything you said. The fear of failure can be paralytic. Had 0 confidence and pretty much wrote myself off as FFL at one point (fat fo' lyfe). This thread though, whenever anyone complimented my progress or lifts, I got that feedback that change is possible. That I was wrong about myself. And seeing that everyone else here had been fat at one point...couldn't deny I was full of chit if I kept thinking it was impossible for me.

So, much agreed about courage...and thank you for all the support and subjecting yourself to WK feels on my behalf haha! And all the infinite knowledge bombs you've dropped...

Same for me, I just got so fed up in 2008-9 though. I had got off a ton of weight and then had to quit smoking. Evidently replacing cigarettes with Trail mix is a bad idea??!? And gained it all back +20. I got so fed up with it, and angry about it, I just decided phuck it, I'm going all out. Bought Adkins for life, and went for it like a terrier on a beef bone.

It helped that I am an extrovert, not that putting myself out there was easy. At least I learned how to work a barbell in high school and had some weaksauce training behind me. Srs made it a lot easier. Who knows why lifting weights caught my attention. Probably Rocky, LMAO, playing that theme song on the record player of peace and doing push ups in my room in 79. Lifting weights in the garage. Hitting the gym at the high school, my buddy Gus had an older brother taught us how not to kill ourselves. I was height weight proportionate then, Gus was heavy, but his older brother was jacked and tan. He was one of those guys who was a Jr but yet somehow a fully grown man who looked like he was 30. Probably had a full beard at 11 LMAO.

    My condolences, Ejnar!

MissLadyJ, I was lucky because I had a surge of hormones and long-unfelt emotions to shock my brain chemistry initially. I was off of everyone's radars for years/nowhere to be found on social media, and suddenly i emerged on a male friend's radar as this unrecognizable depressed fat person, lol. The motivation to look like my old self again was pretty strong.

I picked this up before entering the thread:

    also this!

Related static images have the caption "firenado". I didn't see the tumbleweeds all set ablaze, but maybe that happened?

    Edit:

Video of the incident. Colorado, 2014:
    https://www.buzzfeed.com/richardhjam...wXO#.haBWdw8xR

And here's a video of someone putting out a boat fire with a flyboard. I've seen flyboarding advertised around here and I've been meaning to check it out.

    ...

In the new challenge thread i posted a reminder that this chat thread is here for errbody.
