It's odd first few days when you cut out all the easy cals isn't it? Pity the hunger always catches up at some point though. I'm hunger free for the most part, unless I'm doing hours of physical work, or the occasional depraved ravenous 10:30 PM "Oh fuukc I better not blow this diet" moments.

Yep. As for protein, any meat you want whether it's seafood, chicken, steak, pork. Animal fat is embraced rather than avoided, especially if organic / grass fed and all that. In fact, you have to eat much more fat and protein than in a normal diet to compensate for omitting carbs, and also end up eating significantly more fiber. All the good stuff that fills you up. Idk how people clean bulk with restricted carbs!

Lawd yes...I forgot how hard it is to fill in calories without bread / rice. I almost don't mind the hunger catching up because my workouts have been brutal on such low cals. Hurts my ego to have to hold back in lifting as well. Not looking forward to those late night moments you mentioned! Will have to go to bed early like a good girl . My step dad treated the kids to dairy queen yesterday and offered to buy my food...wasn't even tempted. We'll see how long that lasts haha! Bet it will be something like a grilled cheese that ends up making me fold...

I'm the same way when I'm on a serious cut. This 4 week shred has been fun, but i'm glad to be in the final days. I look forward to peanuts and pb soon lol. I've actually had no cravings, and my diet was pretty much like yours MLJ, but i can have SOME carbs (even though today i'm allowed 47g, i ate a bowl of oatmeal, and my shakes take up the rest lol). Ironically, Today is the first day where i felt like i had no energy during cardio (50 min on the stair master). I've literally played a sort every day to save me from having to do steady state twice a day lol. I think the supps helped a bit, as well.
I liked this program a lot. I probably went out to eat like 15 times and only had water lol. I'd just eat my meal n the car before going in. The hardest part was probably my month family potluck, where there is just soooo much food and desserts.. but i had my steak and sweet potato and called it good. Yesterday i hit 199, so that's another yearly milestone knocked out the way.

Paleo diet FTW. With one cheat meal a week. It's, by FAR, the best way to lose weight. At least for me.

Shall I post pics of all my primal meals this week (I take in dairy and cheese btw)?Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;

i decided im not going to ever go strickly healthy all the time and letting myself have my craving when really needed. Not just as an excuse. Im in my second day cutting here but my body MUST have carbs.
Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

Fastest way to get me to binge and gain back all the weight is to take away a food group and add restrictions to my diet. Apparently I'm like a 2 year old. LOL I did a diet called Fat Flush back in 2005 and lost weight super fast (came back and then some though). No sugar, salt, yeast, flour, dairy. Here's what I could eat.
2 eggs, 10 oz protein, 2 whey shakes, 2 fruits (not banana, pineapple or grapes or melons), 2 svgs of Flax oil, 2 servings of flax seed, unlimited veggies (no salt though) and 8 oz of unsweetened cranberry juice diluted to drink through the day.
^^^^^^That's it. Lasted about 1 1/2 years on that. Hence why I'll only ever follow calorie restrictions now. I'd much prefer deciding for myself what to cut out.
Week 7 of my diet break coming up....I think vacation weight and TOM weight will come back off by Monday.
And my son is leaving in 27 days for college....Where's the gif for the sobbing mom who thought she was ok with it but really isn't???
Cardio today...hitting the canal for the view.Kristen

@Znik...the cookies would take a while to get here so I would be losing until then at least LOL! My man and I massacred those cookies last time. It didn't take us long at all to gobble them up, so at least we dealt with the damage in a few days
This. Although, I will be eating regular potatoes as well and things like buttnernut squash and yams. I have allotted myself around 120g of carbs. And tbh, I didn't fully cut out dairy. I'm still eating Greek yogurt (although, full fat and plain) and I'm going to pick up some raw milk today.
Btw, have you tried grilled cheese on a foreman grill? So good...
I have decided I might allow myself Chipotle once a week to keep me in the game. lol
Mmmm, banana cream pie. Happy birthday to your daughter . How old is she now?
I guess it works for me because I did decide to voluntarily cut it out haha. I've been reading some very intriguing things about subjects such as tooth decay being caused by lack of nutrition (A,D,K,E specifically) and grains / sugars in the diet. So this is kind of an experiment for me in many ways to see if it improves my health in certain areas. Plus, the nature of the diet itself usually leaves me feeling full, get plenty of fiber for bowel movements despite cutting, and I really do feel great on the diet. I have questioned grains in general since reading The Evolutionary Discordance of Grains and Legumes in the Diet - http://www.beyondveg.com/cordain-l/g...gumes-1a.shtml, and after reading about studies on the content of the diet of indigenous peoples who don't suffer from the diseases and illnesses modern society is plagued with.
Think the catalyst for me really want to look at my diet was after reading a study that found when examining burgers from popular fast food places, "Meat content in the hamburgers ranged from 2.1% to 14.8% " A large portion of it is also ground up bones, cartilage, and all kinds of nasties (including bugs and even feces ). Immediately regretted the fast food binge I've been on lately. I rather just make a burger at home, usually tastes better anyway, srs. There are some interesting recipes for 'bread' made from coconut and almond flour...going to make some this weekend and see how they compare.Last edited by missladyj; 08-08-2015 at 09:06 AM.

Ha if you find anything interesting to make with coconut flour let me know. Its odd to bake with, really a sponge and will dry out a dish unless you go heavy on the liquid. Ive still not fully got the hang if the stuff, but popped for a bag a while back from costco. Stuff smells amazing though, but not strong flavor.
She's 19 now. About to start sophmore year @ college.
Survived yesterday without going full potato.
I have nor foreman grill which is sad, as they seem to be hard to find OG quality now.The most important aspect of weight training; whether for the athlete, bodybuilder, or average person is to better ones health and ability without injury. - Bill Pearl

Keep hearing that it is difficult figuring out the right ratio with coconut flour. Must have got lucky the first time I tried because I made coconut / almond flour cookies with dark chocolate and it was delicious. And yes, it smells amazing! I actually found a coconut oil that actually has a slight flavor of coconut...but ofc it is organic / extra virgin so pretty damn expensive. This is the recipe I am going to try as hamburger buns:

I saw a recipe on the back of the coconut flour package for wraps...might have to try that out as well.
Mirin' Lunch?
Grilled pork chops (with a sauce I made from olive oil, soy sauce, garlic powder, and dried rosemary, basil and cliantro), kale mix with avocado cliantro dressing, topped with pumpkin seed and dried cranberries, and fried egg + tomato

eh, tbh I don't really have one. I just mixed dried herbs in olive oil, brushed it on the pork chop and threw it on the grill, flipping it when it looked halfway done and brushing it again. The salad came from a pre mix and I just put the dressing I liked on it. The egg was cooked in a pan with the yolk popped and diced tomato on top

Hey all. Quick check in. The Internet connection on my phone is pretty bad where I'm staying. Pages often fail to load. i can see MissJ's lunch right now, tho. Looks hearty! And I've been keeping up with the thread during the day. i wrote to people at one point but my battery ran down.
Loved dat baby, Muzziechik. Our proxies were so cute! Look at me being all frantic in that gif; look at you!
Ejnar, roger that. Maxing! I have to wash my clothes at a laundromat when I'm here. I usually bring along candy or cookies to get me through tasks like that, lol. Told myself not to bring anything and I didn't. Didn't die either!
When Znik and Kure start bulking again we can all climb up on their backs and hide out there.

Amazing day yesterday. Saw some coastal areas hat I'd never seen before. Had lunch at the perfect picnic spot in the shade of some trees In a park overlooking a beach I'll post pics later. Ppl set up an arbor for a wedding where I sat after I left. Met a really friendly guy who said he would have given me a tour of a members only club but he had to go and sail in a race that was about to start. I was sitting near the club and had asked him about the building when I saw him emerge from it.
...
Some people at my old gym have asked to keep in touch through ********. Guess I need to get on that tyme. I'll be working out there off and on through October.
Just scrapped the rest of this post. More later.start where you are

I hear ya! I hope you know I wasn't knocking what you're doing. Not everyone has disordered eating like I had for years which caused weird things in my brain to happen regarding regular food. And my all or nothing attitude didn't help. I'm all for finding one's own path.
And ya. Ewwww on the fast food info. I never do fast food. I just don't like it and never have. If my husband drags me to fast food I insist on Wendy's because they have chili and baked potato. If at Mcdonalds, I cry....and have yogurt or salad. I just hate it. I used to like the apple pies but what happened to them. They're awful now.
Do like Cosi though...does that count as fast food or no?
Rest day today. Workouts are so fun right now with food. Wrapping up week 8 today of break.Last edited by kmac1196; 08-09-2015 at 04:14 AM.
