Pre-Fight Press Conference
Highlights:
-McGregor: I am going to kill this man. I'm going to slap the face off of him.
-McGregor: He is a novice in my eyes. I look at him as a novice.
-McGregor: The fighting Irish are back.
-McGregor: His facial structure will be rearranged after this fight.
-Mendes: Every person I've ever fought in the Octagon has had a reach advantage over me. This is nothing new.
-Mendes: He's cutting alot of weight. Wrestling makes you tired, and we're going to test that.
-Mendes: He's a black belt in trash talking. This has been a fun ride with this dude. But this is an easy fight for me.
-Mendes: The hype train is coming to an end.
There was some other boring stuff from MacDonald and Lawler.
Conor talked a lot of smack...more than usual. If he loses, especially if he gets finished, it will be the lulziest loss ever.

Reporter: "Some confusion...some doctors reports saying he(Aldo) didn't have a broken rib, some saying he did have a broken rib, there seems to be a feeling that the UFC were trying to force him to fight with a broken rib. Can you clear this up?"
Dave Sholler (UFC P.R. shill): "So let's start here...Jose's health and safety was always number one, and it always is with all of our athletes. Any rumors or social media you see that say we're forcing Jose to fight are categorically false. The bottom line is, there were difference of opinions in the x-rays and scans that were looked at."

Super pumped for this fight card, there's a guy from my hometown on the prelims too. I'm pulling for Conor because I think he's good for the growth of the sport. I've always been a fan of Nick Diaz and Chael, but Conor takes trash talk to a whole new level. He's backed it up thus far, but I'm curious to see how he would react of he loses Saturday. Got to admit that at the press conference today Mendes looked frustrated at times and not all that confident. I think Conor is already in his head. The million dollar question is whether or not Conor will be able to stuff the power doubles. I just can't see Chad taking him down and maintaining control from the top the entire fight like he says he will.

Holy chit Conor has the most annoying persona I have ever seen. He should win this though IMO
Also, after seeing this presser, I know everyone would have complained had it been Nate but dam, can you imagine those two talking chit back and forth? Talk about lulzy. Those two yapping at each other would have been fantastic

I'll try to sum it up as short as I can. Conor's unorthodox style is going to be a huge deciding factor. If Mendes can keep control of the middle and make conor work from the outside, I really like his chances at forcing conor into a mistake for either a big counter(like Lamas) or getting a nice double leg takedown. If Mendes can get conor on his back and keep him there for more than 5 seconds(he is a slippery fella and very quick at getting back to his feet), I think Mendes will win just by grinding away at him. Around half way through the 3rd round Im expecting Conor to start gassing out, mendes will get a takedown, then take his back in a scramble and seal the victory.
If Mendes cant deal with his standup style(which I can only assume is an absolute bish to try and prepare for), Conor will finish him within 2 rounds. Once the 3rd round starts, and every minute the fight continues after, I honestly think the scales start to tip more and more into Mendes favor. If Mendes can get this fight to go into the 5th rd(even if he's taken the worse end of it so far), I'd be shocked if conor even has fumes left in his tank to survive. I just rewatched Aldo v Mendes 2 and feeling a bit more confident in my reasoning for my Mendes pick tbh.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Absolutely no way can you say Conor is the new Jones.
With Jones, anyone with experience in MA could see he was mad talented from early on. He absolutely dominated opponents from the get go and faced guys of a good pedigree earlier on in his UFC career (Bonnar, Vera, O'Brien, Hammil although he got DQ'd) and dominated them.
With Conor, there are still question marks. He hasn't fought anyone of note so far or anyone with any real pedigree. At least when Jones was going for a title shot, he had fought guys who had been around the top of the division previously. McGregor hasn't really done that and this is the first fight he's getting that I would expect him to struggle with.*Hit by a bus and survived crew*
