    Science addicts here?....

    I'm one....especially archaeology, astronomy.

I stumbled upon this http://www.nowykurier.com/toys/gravity/gravity.html on a guitar forum (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/bad-dog-c...ty-things.html)

I don't fully understand how to use it yet but it looks interesting enough to putz with.

To keep up and feed my neurons I go here...all science topics are available if remotely interested:

Excellent....now I know who's brain to pick if mine is misfiring on these knowledge quests.
I'm a music/geology major from the late Pleistocene Epoch and fear I'll die before I know everything. (wink)

EDIT: hope it can be a good tool for your class.

I really enjoyed the college path and was playing in a band at the same time while expanding my mind in other ways....ahem, cough.

Teaching 6 graders seems a bit oxymoronic to me so I commend you for your patience and perseverance.

    Oh boy....lots of drama.

BTW, I meant to put a smileycon after my comment on your "patience and perseverance" but you'd quoted me before I'd noticed.

Cool....another site filled with brain food.

Back in 1987-88 or so I had subscribed to a pub called Science News.
A great weekly rag of about 15 pages or so and I loved getting science discoveries/updates weekly.
But....after about 7 years I had them stacked to the ceiling.
    I don't have them anymore.

Now, it's far easier on the trees (I've grown quite accustomed to breathing) that we have the webz access so satisfy one's curiosities.

Thanks for chiming in and I'm on spread.

    OK....I believe you.
So many science subjects to ponder and brainstorm on.

    On another science note:
It seems we have partial eclipse occurring today just prior to 15:00 PST.
I may have to get out a paper plate with a hole in it as suggested.

I try to understand Quantum Mechanics on occasion, but I just don't think my mind is flexible enough...

    Eg, Quantum Entanglement:

a physical phenomenon that occurs when pairs or groups of particles are generated or interact in ways such that the quantum state of each particle cannot be described independently – instead, a quantum state may be given for the system as a whole.
In an oversimplified definition, measurement/observation of one particle will influence the other particle.

This picture is experimental proof of said entanglement:

Image on the left was painted by lasers that passed through the cat image.

Image on the right was painted by lasers (photons) that were split from the above mentioned lasers but never passed through the feline image. Kinda like twins knowing what each other is doing without being in the same room. And it happens instantly across infinite distances. Einstein did not like this...called it spooky...also kinda says speed of light is not absolute.

In the words of Richard Feynmam, " I think I can safely say that nobody understands quantum mechanics."

Not entanglement, but that post did prompt me to dig up this picture (which I had originally taken for Caturday):

    Top of the mornin'....

Yes...I did try to see the eclipse using the two paper plates process with a hole cut in one of them.
I couldn't get it to work, I"m sure it was user error, so after 10 minutes I gave up plus it was a bit hazy so that didn't help.
    I'll check out your photo.

Ha...Eb is not my best key.
Hope you had a safe trip.

That vid provides quite the 'perspective'.

The more we learn the less we actually know.
I guess that's what keeps us interested.

No biggie....I try to rep all that comment with civility in my threads (unless I'm on spread) and never expect anything back.
My only presumptuous expectation is to wake up above the dirt again tomorrow.

    Thanks again....do carry on.

I hope all goes without hitch and we don't encounter any hostile comet rock monsters.
