It's hard to keep track of what I've already posted and looking back through old posts, all of the pics take too long to load. I don't think I shared this yet because I haven't finished, but I'm probably not going to for a while either lol.
I started putting new interior in my Custom S. I dyed the dash until I can spend the $1000 for a new one. New carpet and door panels, Braum seats. I need to paint the column and get a new steering wheel
The dash was already cut for a radio, so I made a trim plate, and put a head unit in it
I put a bunch of insulation under the carpet
I put a head liner in it, but it was winter time, so I was waiting for warmer weather to stretch it and glue the edges, but then I went back to work, and still haven't glued it
And since I was doing carpet and a head unit, I put an amp and subs in it.
I think water is getting in the trunk from the body seam under the tail lights. That's why I put the sub box on 2x4s. I need to fix it and put something on the rust. All the metal is still pretty solid, but it's got some heavy surface rust on it

Of the 24 I've bought since getting home in Aug, this 00 Yukon XL was the first. $1000 with 300k miles, and a bad transmission. It was too nice to part out, so I put a good trans in it that I bought at a pull it yourself style yard for $200 a few years ago and now don't have a use for. Spent a few hundred more on a a few minor things and fluids. Sold it for $4000.
The guy also had a 67 Chevy sitting there so I asked if it was for sale. He told me he offered it to a guy for $2000, and he never came and got it. So after I hauled the Yukon home I went back and drove the 67 30 miles home. Didn't do anything to it. Just listed it and sold it for $3500
I hadn't really decided what to do with the 02 TA I bought from a buddy for $2500. It had a rod knock, so I pulled the LS1 and t56 and sold them for $4000 even with a rod knock. Finally decided to sell the roller and got $1800. Sold some spare wheels for $600. So I made a nice profit for what little time it took.
A guy listed this for $1000. He said the engine was good, but the transmission had been removed to replace it and he didn't have the trans. The cats had been cut off too (I've been selling cats off 2500s for $400 each). The starter was out when I looked at it, so I didn't even bother try to turn the engine. It had 2 broket rods. But I still made $2000 profit parting it out and kept the cab. I'm using parts from 2 of the Duramaxes, and this cab to build a RCSB with a LLY in it.
I set the cab on a spare 1500 burb frame so I could sell the 2500 frame, but it's now sitting on a crew cab Dmax chassis that I need to shorten
I mostly only buy stuff to part out if I want some of the parts, but a guy came out to look at front end stuff for his truck. When he told me what happened I asked if he just wanted to sell it. I told him to let his insurance scrap it and I'd pay the buy back and give him a little extra. 6.0 truck with 180k miles. Frame was bent, so I parted it out. I paid $1800, kept a few interior parts, and still have the axles to sell, but I'm at $2000 profit on it. I love the gmt800s because I can double or triple my money by fixing and selling, or parting them out.

The 67 will have an all aluminum Pontiac in it with EFI. I like light weight EFI engines, and building an aluminum Pontiac is f***ing expensive. So all my other stuff gets LS engines with the exception of my 79 TA, which has an Olds 455, and my Cheiftain, which I'll leave the original engine in.
I would like to, but I've been waiting until I can build a new shop. I'm already so busy I don't want to take the time to make and edit videos. Everything would be a lot easier with a bigger shop where I could leave projects in one spot, and have room to work on them between all the other crap I do. The thing that sucks about my shop is that if I tie up my lift with something I'm fixing or parting out to make money, then I don't have any room to work on my projects. I spend more time moving cars around than I do working on them.

Theres this guy lasthumansgarage who doesnt edit chit and his videos end up long with some rambling. Its not ideal if you are after big view numbers and trying to be a "youtuber" but he doesnt seem to care too much about that. He still ends up with a pretty large amount of sponsors from companies sending him chit to get in his videos even if he only has a few k views on them. I guess the market is niche enough that its worth it for the parts companies to end him chit to upgrade his cars with because those 500-2000 views he gets are highly targeted potential buyers.

If you want alot of views then the videos got to be organized and shorter. This other channel this guitar player that i been watching since he was small time and blew up had a video on how to make it as a youtuber and was explaining initially his videos were way too long with too many different songs and he learned he got way more views if they were like under 5 minutes with just a single song.

My project E36 Compact. Runs and drives but has a whole laundry list o' $hit to get done. Now that I don't work at a dealership anymore finding a hoist is going to be a bit problematic. Doable on the ground but hoist is preferable. I've lovingly named it "Moneypit." Because BMW. And no, it's not named after Donut's Moneypit series. I named it before Jobe created the series with his NA Miata.

Also there's a lot of freelancers in Pakistan & India who will edit your videos for like $15 on upwork & fiverr. You just record anything and everything and let them put the vids together. I think you'll find an audience rather quick and US based viewers for car content bring in around $5-10 CPM or $5-10 per thousand views.
50 000 views per month is nothing crazy to achieve with your vintage and everyday car content so that's an easy $250-$500 for starters and it's only up from there if you keep posting. Include affiliates, sponsorships and that could 10x in a matter of 6 months.

I really try not to jump from project to project, but I've got so many that are close to road worthy, and I'm constantly waiting on parts, or need to save money for one car, so I jump to something else. It would be easier to do that if I had a bigger shop, so that stuff wouldn't have to move. I want to focus on the 69 Firebird now that it's on its suspension finally. It wouldn't take long to finish, but I'm at a point I need to throw about $30k more at it, and I can't easily do that now that we've all been laid off from Afghanistan.
So when I got home I decided to get my 55 GMC drivable. That snowballed and I ended up spending about $12k that I could've put into the Firebird though . But I want this 55 done bad, so I don't mind that I pushed the Firebird back more
I had all the stock 77 TA suspension and brakes on this. I was going to just rebuild the brakes and use the steel Pontiac wheels that were on it, but for what it was going to cost, it didn't cost much more to buy spindles that would fit the extra C5 brakes I had laying around, and get some 18" wheels and tires
I stripped everything out of the cab and cleaned it. I'm going to leave the body alone, but I'll paint the inside of the cab
I bought all new interior for my 83, but I've got some H2 seats I'm going to put in it, so I'll recover the 83 bench seat and put it in the 55 for now. I'll probably upgrade to an aftermarket bench at some point
I was just going to do a C notch and keep the leaf springs, but I decided to build a 3 link on airbags, and to get it as low as I want it needed a step notch
I'm just putting the rear on airbags for now and using manual air valves. This is mostly so I can put weight in the bed, but I might add airbags to the front later.
How I'm mounting the gas tank, air compressor, and battery

Everything on the chassis welded up and painted. I'm raising the bed floor 3 inches to clear the step notch, so I used 2x3" tubing to make the mount for the front of the upper control arm, and the front bed rail will sit directly on that cross member.
I decided not to cheap out on the radiator. I got this from RnD, which is where I got the one in my 67 GMC. This is a 2 speed fan. I've wired up 2 fans to have dual speeds by wiring relays to run them in series for low speed and parallel for high speed, but I've never seen a single fan with 2 speeds.
I had a 4L80e in this, but I had a spare t56 that needed a rebuild. I decided it would be more fun to have a 6 speed in the truck, so I rebuilt it and used a kit to move the shifter to the forward location so it will clear the bench seat
You have to install a new shifter cup on the shift rail and cut out the center of the rail. I had to buy a carbide drill bit to drill the shaft.
And here it is installed with the cross member I built

And then I got side tracked again when I started dragging more cheap trucks home.
I bought this 00 2500 with a bad 6.0 for $1500. I was going to part it out and put my black 1500 on this frame, but I've since decided I like it to much to part it out, so I'll put one of my good engines in it and sell it.
I built that 6.0 with rec port heads to put my supercharger on. Now that I have my black Silverado back, I'm going to put the supercharger in that. But I've always wanted a 6 speed auto in there too, and I can't easily put one behind the engine I built because it's a gen 3 engine (24x crank reluctor). So I bought this 07 Silverado for $1200 with a bad trans. The 6.0 in it is a gen 4 which has a 6 speed auto behind it already and has the rectangular port heads that my supercharger will fit. So I'll put this engine in my black Silverado. I've already got $900 back just by selling the cats, doors, and front clip. I've still got the whole chassis, t case, and cab with clean title.
I'd been keeping an eye out for a cheap LB7 donor for the Jimmy. Every one that popped up seemed to have engine problems for some damn reason. I mean I expect them all to have bad injectors, but they were all being listed with locked up engines. I bought this one anyway, and haven't pulled the engine yet to see what's wrong with it. I paid $4000 for it.
At the same time I was talking to the guy about the white one, another guy offered me both of these blue ones for $6500. The 02 had a locked up engine and 424k miles, but was in really good shape. The 04 had a good LLY but had been smashed on the driver's side
The red Sierra on the trailer I bought for $1000 just because lol. I like these red, and it runs and drives. I'll get back to that one later
So I decided not to part out the blue 02, so I found a vandalized truck with a good engine for $3800. I don't know who he pissed off, but they cut up his wiring harnesses, brake lines, and fuel lines.
Fixing the blue truck ended up being a waste of time. I'm gonna stop buying **** to fix unless it's pretty immaculate other that the repair it needs. Everything ends up needing more work, and even if the parts don't cost much, the time makes it to where it's not worth it for the profit. I keep a spread sheet of everything I own and what I spend/profit on vehicles I sell and part out. I've had to lump a bunch of trucks together with the blue 02 and vandalized white one, since I did some trading and parts swapping. Overall I'm still profitting, but those ones were mostly a waste of time.
I have a lot of people contact me about buying trucks once they find out I part these out. I bought this for $1000 because it jack knifed his camp trailer and just needed it gone. Made an easy $2000 profit parting it out, and put most of the interior into the red Sierra pictured on my trailer.

Well I think other than the other 10 or so trucks I drug home and haven't done anything with yet, that brings us up to the current project I was working on before heading to Qatar.
I bought this one for $1200 from a friend that was in a bit of a jam. 02, 2wd with 400k miles. Ran great. I sold the engine for $400 and put the cab on the frame from the maroon Denali that I parted out, and bought a matching short bed
The front body mounts on a SUV are the same as a pick up, so the cab bolts right on. I have to make new mounts for the bed
I shortened the frame
I put the 6.0 and 4L80e from the white Yukon XL in this. I bought a nvg149 t case, which uses a viscous coupler for AWD, and had a guy machine an input shaft so it'll fit the 4L80e
I put a 4/6 drop on it, and rebuild the whole front end and replaced all the brakes while I was at it
6" drop springs, drop shocks, and shock relocation brackets. I still need to install the pan hard bar and lower the control arm mounts
I still need to make mounts for the bed but here is how it sits
So this thing is AWD with a 4 link rear, 6.0 engine, 4L80e trans, and nvg149 t case, with a 4/6 drop, 20" factory wheels and 275/55/20 tires. I'm going to order a turbo kit when I get done in Qatar. I'm going to add power windows and locks, and I've got a bunch of better interior parts for it. It had tan interior, but I've got a mix of light and dark gray, as well as some Denali stuff to put in it.
