We got the whole family in the only dry-ish room in the house. The cats are freaking out, baby won't sleep. And the poor guy that got stranded in my driveway finally made it home.

I'm sorry, Meg. While my issues are nowhere near your own, I've had my own bit of trouble with the storms last night. I'm Northwest of Houston. We didn't get flooded, but there was tons of cloud-to-ground lightning with the downpour that kept my kids up until midnight. On top of that, I think we had a lightning strike so close to the house that now my electrical is fuked up. AC unit, generator, pool equipment, electrical main breaker are all messed up. No school for the kids. So I'm chained to the house waiting for the revolving door of repair people today. I'm not letting it get to me too much because I know it could be worse.
Sorry again you were flooded! Hope it wasn't too bad? Hope you all are doing ok.

I'm just a mile north of the Heights. It's just the drainage can't handle 10" in an hour.
For a while our AC wasn't keeping up so that had me worried. Sure we'd get a new one but the time that would take would be unbearable this time of year.
And baby didn't sleep a lick last night so that didn't help. I'm exhausted!
I just finished shampooing and sucking up as much water out of the carpets as I could and mopped up all the tile. But doors aren't closing properly so afraid I have unseen damage. But it's the best I could do...I sure hope the insurance will just replace the carpet because my OCD cannot handle the stains...
And baby's daycare got a tree through the roof so they're closed all week. Just hoping another daycare can make room so I can get to work before week's end.Coming out of "retirement"...Meg is training for a Figure competition...again!!!

My town was destroyed by hurricane Ivan 10 years ago. I remember getting home from school and calling in late to my part-time job to move things in my basement because it was flooding. I started driving down this big hill to get to work and there was a lot of traffic backed up. It seemed like cars were turning around and flashing their high beams at me. As I moved around the bend I found out why. The bottom of the hill was a huge lake and there was an SUV floating in the middle of it with the water past it's headlights. It scared the crap out of me.
Sorry to hear about this!

Wow in your location you definitely got hit hard. Speaking of OCD...when my kids were babies I hated that they had to crawl on the floor. Just imagining all the stuff tracked in the house by us and our dogs. Yuck. I was constantly cleaning the carpets. Lol. Now I just clean them twice a year; right before each one if their birthday parties. Ironically I just did the carpets yesterday. Have in-laws coming for my daughters birthday this weekend.
Hope the insurance replaces yours for you!

The carpet stained from the muddy water and driving me bonkers! Good thing the kiddo isn't mobile yet.
I've stayed through a few hurricanes and none of those compared to the amount of water we got. Sure the wind is scarier... But at least the water didn't rise a foot every 10 minutes!Coming out of "retirement"...Meg is training for a Figure competition...again!!!

Oh jeez, sorry to hear you got hit with that. The pics I've seen of this are amazing, can't even imagine, would be raging hard if I had to deal with that. I hope everyone stays safe and gets some peace soon. May the insurance process be as smooth as a buttered ham going downhill on a Slip and Slide.
