Any of you brahs done a dhcpd conf where you can set two next-servers and they're assigned based on the subnet/ipaddress of the client?

It most definitely is not the router. I'm typing this directly connected to my modem and am seeing these speeds

    Should be seeing 60/4

Called ISP again and the representative said he noticed problems with the upstream. That the number he was seeing was too high?

31dB on the upstream when he regularly sees 25 for other customers. (no clue what these mean, thought I should post though)

Not exactly sure if this is pinging my modem, but I ran it for whatever address is on my default gateway. These are the results.

Perfect use of GIF. Same feels I get when I come home from work/gym. Ready to smoke a bowl, relax, study, play some games, etc.. AND.... COMCAST IS DOWN. LOLZ

Like everyone said at this point I'd start troubleshooting hardware. Unplug all cables (check for dust in ports, etc..), Use different modem, Use different cables, see if anything changes.
    Are you not entertained?

Holy chit I went full mongoloid on that sentence. I meant that if I pxeboot a PC, and depending on if its on subnet A or subnet B it gets routed to Next-server 1 or next-server 2.

Haha, all good man. It's been a long Wednesday. It's funny you bring up that topic because we've been fixing our MDT server all day. Depending on what server is under-utilized that has MDT, or SCCM, whatever you're using. It's going to go to the closest server depending on subnet and location.

I'm a noob with all these addresses so I left them out in case I shouldn't be sharing them heh.

I ran one just now with zero packet loss.

Sounds like an ISP problem. Can you buy your own modem and see if it's a modem problem?

Don't buy a new one. It's the ISP's responsibility to provide you with a new one.

It hasn't been rescheduled (cross fingers), so I should be taking Sec+ tomorrow at 11am.

Anybody have a home server? I just bought the one in http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=170375941 and looking for a case/chassis. Can anybody give me a recommendation? I'm not terribly familiar with server mobo's/cases (hence me buying it to start a home lab).

I have a home server that is basically running as a file server and hosting my VMs.

Do you want a rack mountable case? Mobo's follow the same ATX form factor as regular desktop mobo's. Google the vendor's specs and buy a cheap desktop case that will fit it.

Rack mountable is probably unnecessary. I'll try to check out the form factor and just get a cheap case then. On spread.

Passed Project+ today. Took me 30 mins. Some of the questions were verbatim from my Practice test through UCertify (WGU).

Thanks. I have my PMP scheduled for July. Other than that I am just trying to finish up my classes, I think I have about 10 left. I have 12 weeks left in my semester and I have been doing about 1 class every two weeks. The math classes I should be able to do by the end of next week and I have another exam tomorrow.

Passed Sec+ brahs! I immediately called my contractor and asked to renegotiate pay. She said in April (my 1 year mark on the job) they would be open to discussing a pay raise considering my progress and performance reviews. That is if I don't get promoted between now and then. Next is Net+ (for school, not work per se)

Cryptography was my most worrisome category going in and my report said I missed some cryptography stuff. There's just so many encryption types and authentication protocols that are very similar/can be combined and some of the questions were pretty daunting.

My suggestion if your not already familiar with a variety of crypto stuff, check out the objectives and memorize the ports, protocols and encryption/hashing types and their uses in a given scenario, alot of the other stuff (at least to me), was pretty familiar like physical security and attack/virus types.

    Final update on internet problems:

ISP tech replaced (again) the cable going into the modem and also swapped the router. There have been no problems since.

Was it router or cable? World may never know.

I love school. Tax credits, 50% off Amazon Prime, discount on smartphone plan, 100% off Windows Server 2012, Office 2013, VMWare, Skillsoft access, and Lynda.

Not to mention the school's library.

I'm going to miss all this once I have my BS.

have you had a chance to check out lynda yet? if so what are your thoughts?

one of my web dev classes this semester doesn't require any textbooks but they want us to get a subscription to lynda. would have to pay for it out of pocket so not sure if it will be worth it...

I haven't had much of a chance to use it, but I think you'd be in good hands with their courses. I've seen some of their HTML/CSS stuff and it was helpful. High quality, easy to understand, comes with exercises, etc.

If the subscription costs less or as much as a textbook, it'd probably be alright. I can't remember how much money it was. You'd have access to everything else too.
