*I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, as in the rules it said take precaution in discussing illegal substances, but I thought this is a good place to ask, and I hope I don't offend anyone or come across as promoting or endorsing illegal steroids*
This is my first topic, I'm 14 now and I ask this out of curiosity. My school is very against illegal PEDs but does not ban use of legal substances although at our own risks. I recently found out about Whey Protein Powder. I did research on it and it seems pretty clean. Out of curiosity, if the Whey Product is 100% clean and the safe and correct amount is taken, can it still result in a positive test? This might seem like a dumb question, but i dont know anything really about supplements (I'm only 14).
*I don't want to take any supplements*

100% clean? correct amount? wut
It's powdered food... that's like asking if a hamburger or chicken breast is going to make you positive :\
They use whey protein in boxed mac & cheese, it's in baby formula and TONS of other processed goods that hundreds of millions of people eat daily. You shouldn't be using/buying supplements at 14 years old just to add simply eat more food your not going to get benefit out of protein powder vs just eating more protein rich foods.-- Microwaves everyday crew --

Sorry, I know it sounds dumb, I thought it might lead to increased testosterone levels then that might trigger a positive result.

OP's post contradicts itself constantly.
Bro you are 14 years old, dump the supplements and eat more home cooking. A SUPPLEMENT is there to SUPPLEMENT your daily protein intake, not replace it.
Read the ingredient profile, and if need be, Google every ingredient to be "safe". With whey, you are going to realize it's basically flavored powdered food, although some does have creatine, BCAA blends, etc. Might help if you include what whey protein you are taking, so people can help break it down for you; however you are 14 and shouldn't NEED any of this anyway.

Just look into what it is
Whey protein is the collection of globular proteins isolated from whey. The protein in cow's milk is 20% whey protein and 80% casein protein,[9] whereas the protein in human milk is 60% whey and 40% casein.[10] The protein fraction in whey constitutes approximately 10% of the total dry solids in whey. This protein is typically a mixture of beta-lactoglobulin (~65%), alpha-lactalbumin (~25%), bovine serum albumin (~8%)(see also serum albumin), and immunoglobulins.[11] These are soluble in their native forms, independent of pH.
Being a by-product of the cheese making process, and likelihood of animal rennet use, whey protein as well as casein products may not be suitable for consumption by lacto-vegetarians or observers of kosher dietary laws. There are, however, specialty producers of vegetarian-approved whey protein products produced using non-animal "rennet" (enzymes). These products are often also labeled as kosher and halal approved.[citation needed]-- Microwaves everyday crew --

Well actually it is very expensive to test for every know steroid, normal tests look for extremely low test - indicating that normal production has been interrupted. After that they may test for specifics, but the "red flag" is from a low number.
At 14 you should not be worried and no, food or powered food should not be an issue

Protein powder is not a steroid! It is powdered food.

Actually, yes (but please, dear god correct me if I'm wrong).
Let's take an organization that follows and tests according to the WADA banned substance list. BPI Sports' Whey-HD (according to the nutrition label) contains 'glycerol monostearate' or GMS. GMS is a banned substance according to WADA.
Therefore, taking Whey-HD the same day when you're taking a urine test that is following WADA protocols can test positive for GMS due to the trace amounts of GMS.
BPI Sports reps/anyone else: please let me know if this is correct. I do know that I've heard of a powerlifter in USAPL getting banned for taking BCAAs before and a specific ingredient within the BCAA product, so I don't think it's completely thrown out of the window that any product can include a banned substance.

In the 2015 WADA Prohibited list, section S5 "Diuretics and Masking Agents", the list states:
"The following diuretics and masking agents are prohibited, as are other substances with a similar chemical structure or similar biological effect(s). Including, but not limited to:
Desmopressin; probenecid; plasma expanders, e.g., glycerol and intravanous administration of...."
This is related to GMS, am I right?

Protein is powdered food. That is like asking if steak can cause a positive on a drug test.

Well, to be fair...while it's true that protein powder is just powdered food (usually dried milk protein)... There was a protein powder a couple years back that had 10mg per scoop of a certain SUPER oral that is now banned. Now...am I saying that it's prevalent, no. But, it does bear mentioning that it did happen once before. Nothing like something as innocuous as protein powder to give you hyooge gains. Lol
