    Quite simply, what do you propose should be added as a rule to prevent circumstances like this? Should they add a minimum ROM rule? It seems like that would be a bit crazy to give everyone of every height and limb proportion the same ROM minimum. Additionally, it would be near impossible to measure and judge. A maximum arch is often suggested as a rule, but how would that be judged and enforced? It would b quite difficult. The rules requiring butt on the bench and toes/heels down(depending on the fed) are easy to judge and enforce and limit this type of thing for the most part.

    The easiest to enforce rule I can imagine they add is requiring the humerus to be at least parallel to the floor when the bar is on the chest. Cant see it changing any time soon though. This "problem" certainly isn't very prevalent.

    I agree it's ridiculous. The rules allow it, which is stupid.

    Then again I don't know how you could prevent it. Make it so there can only be like one or two inches between your lower back and the bench? Who knows.

    I mean it's why people get away with saying they can lift all this weight as some sort of bragging point but they still don't look like they Lift.

    Good thing this is mostly females and who cares about women's sports lol

    Pretty much this. There's just no way to enforce it. These fools are few an far between though and nobody takes their benching seriously.

    Even if They were to make a humerus to parallel rule you're pretty much saying big guys can't compete too. Unfortunately there's just no way to get rid of these extreme arches and its something we have to deal with

    I dont consider any of those real bench presses. Im sure those benchers are strong as hell but those setups are crazy. Moving it a half an inch isnt a real press.

    I understand bros arching their back a little but these are way overboard.

    I hate that so much. Was at my sister's PL competition and this one kunt went exorcist mode on the bench. No joke. My sister blew her numbers away without all that chit.

    making the m unrack the weight themselves would sove the problems. you can't get a really good arch and keep it tight if you have to unrack yourself.

    Funny thing is that they removed OHP from powerlifting because it was easy to cheat on and people do more ridiculous stuff with the bench and it's totally fine.

    Thats why olympic lifting > powerlifting

    Powerlifting is a joke with all these "raw" federations that allow all kinds of tools. Raw should be absolutely no equipment besides normal clothing. No belt and no magnesium either.

    That's why totals are what matters not individual lifts. Also this typically happens mostly in the lower weight classes since the grip width limits are fixed and the shorter people dominate these weight classes.
