Friend of mine just bought a pair of two faced 100s and one weighed out to 107lb!! Mine weighed 100lb & 102lb. I'd be curious to hear of other 'overweight' 100s. I'm curious to see how heavy these got.

Nice looking set of Roundheads. I'd rep, but I'm on spread.

I am in the midst of painting all my Roundheads.

I am still looking for some of those needles. :/ I lack pairs of 80s and 85s. But I have two pairs of 100s - some of the hardest to find. Go figure.

I don't have any 12s or some of the <10 lb dumbbells, but I don't really care for the small ones.

After York starting making plates overseas, were those made offshore ever milled? If so, how would you tell a pre-usa era plate from one made overseas since neither would have been stamped "USA"?

I don't think any York plates were ever milled outside of Pennsylvania.

Generationally I think it's:

Deep dish
milled York
milled York - stamped USA
Chinese - non machined
Canadian - non machined (current volume production)
Chinese - lathed (current Legacy)

Ok, I just thought that some US made plates weren't machined if they were already within tolerance. I wasn't aware that the legacy plates were lathed though, good to know.

True, but if you buy a set of plates some will be milled some not. If you're lucky they'll all be milled. I don't think anybody is unlucky enough to see a full set of unmilled. Milling isn't the only way to differentiate Pennsylvania plates from Canadian and Chinese.

Everybody gets excited for milled plates from the late sixties to the late 80's/early 90's. The unmilled 25-45 lb. plates are more interesting from that era since they aren't as common.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't milling only done to shave weight off the cast? It's conceivable to have a vintage set not needing milling, correct?

Yes. I've never seen a complete set without a few milled plates, but it would have been possible.

That's when it's time to do a dollar cost average. If item #1 costs $100, and the identical item #2 costs $20, then just sell one for $60 and call it a day.

Heavens no! Ask $120. My assumption is that there is always someone else out there who is more of a fool than me. I am not often disappointed. But it may take patience to find him.

Luckily the first one I bought was better than free after I flipped the generic weights it was sold to me with. Therefore, the hoarder in me doesn't mind having and hanging on to both.

thanks. the globes i've had for a little bit. the blue 60s, the 40 and 20 i just picked up. i feel like the blue's are a little narrower on the handle than the others. otherwise they're in great condition.

Great additions to the collection! Warm up with the 20s then 40s and hit the 60s and the 75s for a set each.
